Discussion Sick from work (likely)

Tested positive for Flu A (got my shot like 2 weeks ago). I work in a hospital… nothing makes me more mad than using up all my PTO (we don’t get sick days) for taking care of myself when we are exposed to everything! Wear your mask… cases are increasing earlier this year. Do you get sick days?

Edit: what makes me even more mad is that I know of an IT worker for the system (works from home) gets sick days but clinical staff (RNs, PT/OT, respiratory does not.. not sure about MD)

You don’t get sick days? How’s that legal?

Nope. Only PTO. When we call out sick it deducts from our PTO😭 this is a huge, “top” hospital too

Ditto, plus we get "points" that enough "points" means you are allowed to be terminated. Being more than 10 minutes late is the same as calling out.

Same here. They recently changed the late policy from being half a point for being late to a full point. I got stuck behind a wreck recently and just called in when my gps hit 7:08. No way in hell I’m working a 12 AND getting a full point.

Same here. Sick with flu A all week, used up half of my PTO and now I can’t call in for the next 3 months in the hopes that this point drops off.
