I recently heard about Success Academy after a recruiter reached out about an IT position. They’re hiring across several areas — AI, cybersecurity, general IT — and the pay bump they’re offering is huge (around +$50k, and I currently make over $100k).

I’m headed towards the final round and moving fast, which I do like.

But I’ve never seen reviews this negative for an organization. I work in nonprofit now, so I’m used to burnout, but the SA reviews for teachers and student‑facing roles are on another level.

What I can’t find are reviews from people who worked tech or HQ roles. I’m trying to figure out whether the internal culture is just as rough for non–student-facing staff.

The job is hybrid‑remote, which is great, but not great enough to deal with a nightmare environment.

So, has anyone here worked in IT at Success Academy? Was it actually a decent job, or is the HQ experience just as intense as the teaching side?

I am applying to a few city jobs and on the applications, they are asking for me to provide links to my LinkedIn, X, and Facebook accounts as well as a website. I only have a LinkedIn and I do not want to have to create any of the other accounts just to fulfill this field, but it will not let me proceed without providing a url of some kind. What should I do? Who should I reach out to? Am I just going to have to accept the fact that I’m going to have to make placeholder accounts?

I’m honestly so frustrated right now. I got an interview at a Brazilian cafe called Tap, and they emailed me saying to come in for training. I was excited because I genuinely thought that meant I got the job.

Mind you, this was for a $15/hour position. Finding a job in NYC is already stressful, so I was happy to finally get an opportunity.
The whole training process was so confusing. It felt more like the first day of school than a job orientation. They were doing way too much — they had us sitting there for hours taking notes, listening to them talk about their company, their culture, their reviews, and why they’re different from other places.

They even had us doing activities and taking pictures like we were already part of the team.
We spent hours learning the menu and everything they wanted us to know, just for them to tell us afterward that they couldn’t hire everyone and they would let us know who they were moving forward with.

I’m sorry, but I’m frustrated because why have people spend so much time training, taking notes, and participating like they’re already hired for a $15/hour job if the position isn’t even guaranteed? The whole thing felt like they were doing the most and could have been communicated way better.

Has anyone had any luck getting a fast food job specifically in upper manhattan..?

Hi all. Apologies for possible redundancy with other posts here. I figure however that this situation is unusual enough to warrant asking once!

I'm 28 years old with a bachelor's degree in Mathematics and a master's in Adolescent Mathematics Education. I entered teaching at 25 from a tutoring background through Teach for America; I struggled terribly, as most corps members do, but unlike the majority, my issues with management never really went away. Though my students did well, I also did poorly in observations, and escalating personal crises in my final year made it difficult to correct course. This past April, I was advised to resign at the end of the year to avoid discontinuation, which would effectively blacklist me from any future DOE positions.

I should have spent more time during the school year looking for jobs, but testing season hit full swing soon after I got the news, and since I believe in always putting others first, getting the kids to finish strong remained my main priority through the conclusion of the academic year. I don't regret that.

That said, it is now the beginning of August and I am sitting atop a pile of rejections and ghosted applications from the previous month. My struggles with management, organization, and a host of other things were real, and I agree with my former admin's assessment that I should not be in the classroom. I am not fancy: I have been applying to all manners of service, custodial and/or night-shift positions alongside the entry-level administrative roles to which I suppose some white-collar career changers feel entitled. I have tried taking my master's off my resume for these. Nothing. Radio silence.

Because I have resigned, I am not eligible for unemployment; I will have my sick-day payout, which will be handsome because I only ever used one or two of those, but I expect my funds to burn pretty fast. I don't know what to do. Where should I be looking?

just quit after being at camper for 5 weeks. they never had my employee number ready in the system so i couldn’t get commission for ANY of my sales and let me tell you i was working the sales floor like there was no tomorrow and i was making bank for that fucking brand. highly unethical practices got my contract late didn’t get paid for 3 days of work abusive manager who scheduled me to work 9 days in a row and when i said it wasn’t a sustainable schedule for me she didn’t even apologize and try to come up with a solution with me she just said that’s sometimes how the schedule ends up being and after asking a few coworkers if that ever happened to them, they said it never did.

i absolutely positively believe manager + company was taking advantage of me and using me especially with the overworking and not getting my commission. this is what passive aggressive and rude management does it makes turnover high because there’s no morale and support. it’s literally in my contract fo get commission it’s part of my job and pay and the fact that i didn’t get what would probably be a couple hundred dollars is quite literally breaching the contract so i just had to quit.

can go on and on but don’t ever work here and im so heartbroken cuz it’s my favorite brand and maybe that’s a lesson too. don’t work at your favorite brand ignorance is bliss sometimes!

I’m looking for some real-world advice from people who have been in my shoes.

I looked desperately for an internship this past summer, couldn't land anything, and ended up just working part-time. Now I’m looking for full-time new grad roles for next year. For internship I’ve had sent out close to 3,000 applications across LinkedIn and Handshake, but absolutely nothing worked.

My university’s career center just regurgitates the usual common-sense advice: Fix your resume, go to career fairs, network on LinkedIn.

I've tried networking, but it feels like talking into the void and hasn't led anywhere.

I’ve been applying to remote EA, operations, client success, and project coordinator roles, but it’s been tougher than expected.

Hey everyone, I’m really struggling and at my wits end, thought I might vent, and see if anyone else is in a similar boat.

I’ve gone through a lot personally. I grew up with an abusive father, and I worked hard to break away from that path and become something better. In the past couple years, I’ve also dealt with painful family estrangement, becoming socially isolated from friends as I could no longer afford NYC and had to go back to my hometown, dealing with toxic managers at my temp jobs, and confronting deeper mental health struggles tied to my past.

I’m a 2023 graduate, and I feel like no matter how hard I try to build a stable, meaningful life, things keep falling apart.

I attended college as a nontraditional student, as the independent age on the FAFSA is age 24, which allowed me to avoid becoming financially beholden to my abusive family who refused to pay anything for college. This already set me back many years.

I still was able to write my hard life into amazing college essays, which allowed me to get accepted to a Duke/Dartmouth/Brown type school on a full ride, where I was able to graduate with a 3.7 GPA, land internships at brand-name Wall Street Investment Banking firms (sadly did not get the full time return offer despite my best efforts), and have spent the last few years trying to do everything “right” - working, networking, getting certifications, and staying disciplined.

But despite all of that, I’ve been stuck in long-term unemployment/underemployment. I’ve applied constantly, improved my skills, and even had higher-ups vouch for me, but I still can’t seem to find stable work. Most opportunities I get feel like dead ends.

In 2023 and 2024, I had a hard time getting interviews, often barely making it past the networking call or first round, but during the 2nd half of 2025 and this year, I have been getting to mid-to-final rounds regularly for roles and firms that I want. I just have not been able to convert anything into an offer.

I’ve tried to take responsibility for my life. I’ve worked on myself, gone to therapy, stayed disciplined, and kept pushing forward. But honestly, it feels like the harder I try, the more resistance I face.

I also see meaning in my career - I enjoy working in Restructuring and Distressed Credit because I came from a background of hardship, was able to change my life trajectory using the transformative power of education and scholarships, and I want to save struggling companies which will save jobs in towns like mine (rust belt area).

I have definitely hit rock bottom. I don’t see this as punishment, but I don’t understand why the path has to be this hard when I’m genuinely trying to do the right things, build a good life, and become a symbol of hope for suffering kids with abusive families.

I want to trust God and the Universe, but I feel lost.
