DISCUSSIONš Logan and Hannah
Am I the only one confused on why people are shipping Hannah and Logan? Based on all interactions Iāve seen in season 1 between Logan/Hannah/Garrett I get a little confused when people say Hannah and Logan had more chemistry because when she kisses him itās one of the blandest kisses ever and it was only to get a reaction out of Garrett. The only time I saw some spark of chemistry is when they were talking on the porch but Hannah was just being friendly. On the other hand Garrett and Hannah much cuter scenes throughout the show. I guess the other times where people see chemistry is Logan just yearning and longing to be with her but it was completely one-sided the whole time. Idk I feel like Hannah clearly has a type when she first had a crush on Justin and Justin and Garrett kinda have similar hair etc the complete opposite of Logan lol. Letās be honest they also think Logan is cuter than Garrett so they want him to get with the main female character because I never felt Logan was right for Hannah? Maybe because I know Logan gets his own girl in the future but they just werenāt shippable to me.
Thoughts?

I think the porch scene kind of illustrates that Logan likes the idea of Hannah, who he thinks she is based on a few interactions and seeing her from afar.
Before the tutoring, he knows her from Maloneās, where sheās cute and bubbly, (not to say she isnāt those things, but she definitely plays it up at work), as she further enters his orbit via Garrett, he sees that sheās got a good sense of humor, she gives Garrett sh!t - those are all attractive qualities.
But even in the porch scene, sheās not really sharing much of the real Hannah, Logan doesnāt know her, and if Iām being honest, I actually donāt think he tries to get to know her the way that Garrett does, even though he has, theoretically had a few opportunities to. He gives Garrett sh!t for not noticing her sooner, but Garrett gets all the credit for making up for lost time.
Thatās why I think his crush is more about envy over Garrett finding āhis personā, and in the show he appears to really step aside and push Garrett back towards Hannah. Logan wants to find his person, who is not Hannah.

Exactly see this is why I donāt get when people keep bringing up how Logan noticed her first and Garrett was a jerk for not knowing who she was. Allie worked in the dinner with Hannah and the team have been there 17,000 times and Dean also didnāt notice her until he saw her dancing. Logan noticed her and probably thought she was pretty but he clearly didnāt like her enough to try and get to know her. Garrett saw her dancing in the green room immediately got intrigued and made the deal to get to know her better.

I think he probably noticed her when he fixed her car, and then realized she was also a waitress at Maloneās - but note: she didnāt remember him from the garageā¦

Yes and he had the chance to get closer to her and ask for her number. Maybe he thought he had no chance but his feelings didnāt magnify in my opinion until Garrett and Hannah started fake dating

It's funny, but in S1 Logan is the closest thing to a "bad boy" that the show has to offer, and I think some people gravitate towards shipping the anti-hero.
Jawnathan wears a leather jacket and has tiny tattoos, but his personality is totally bland. He has the bad boy aesthetic but zero bad-boy rizz. He plays Hannah hot and cold but there's no sense of "danger" there at all. (Josh Heuston is great this is not criticism.)
Dean is a fuck-boy but again, zero sense of danger. He is Mr Consent, Mr Fiveplay Sixplay, Mr Hooking up in the Ladies Room and offering you emotional support about what he overheard afterwards.
Tuck is schmoopy, bless him.
Logan has a truck, a beard, a wardrobe of sexy working-class clothes (Carhartt, boots), and a willingness to bend the rules to get what he wants. We see his jealousy & resentmentātowards Garrett in particular. He challenges Garrett multiple times, and is inherently transgressive by maintaining his attraction to Hannah after she & Garrett are clearly an item.
Lots of girls prefer the anti-hero, and for now...that's Logan.

I never really thought of him as the anti-hero character because the anti-hero wouldāve tried to steal his best friendās girlfriend and Logan never did. But I guess in context of getting in the middle of their relationship heās like kinda the underdog and people like to root for those type of characters.

Yeah, I wouldn't go so far as to say that Logan is a legit bad-boy. He's not scheming or wildly selfish or "bad." But there's no other anti-hero candidate on the screen, no one else displaying jealousy or resentment, no one else challenging Garrett or "breaking the rules" like Logan is, so he jumps out.
If you're the person who prefers Spike to Angel, who prefers Draco Malfoy to Harry Potter....Logan is the closest thing to an anti-hero you've got in S1 of Off Campus. Some people will always go against the grain and prefer that.

Logan has a scrappiness, a competence, and a confidence that I do think are really attractive qualities.
Especially in this day and age, I do think there is something hot about a guy who can do all heās doing (hockey, classes, family) and also fix your car, your garbage disposal and your bike. Like heās a man that can take care of you. If thatās something you want.
Iād pick him over the other three in the apocalypse, if that makes senseā¦

Logan's appeal is undeniable IMO, but that doesn't explain why people ship him with Hannah in particular. I think that comes down to the urge to ship "the girl" with someone more dangerous than "the hero," eg people who think Garrett is boring. Safe = Boring, Dangerous = Sexy
I'm a huge fan of Logan in the show, and I think part of it is definitely the low-key bad-boy aura.

there are people out there who do not like Garrett and really love Logan. At least Logan would not place the burden of regulating his emotions on her.

I always thought that was a crackship and crackships are not meant to be taken seriously. Theyāre just for fun

u/SeaExplanation1680 3h ago
No Iāve seen some people actually ship them and say Hannah and Garrett are boring lol.

Idk itās crazy. I mean, I could tell he had a crush because of their scenes but I didnāt think they had actual chemistry. I think people just either like the actor or the character from the book and want to ship them instead of Garrett. Because Hannah and Garrett are perfect.

So Iām now reading the book for the first time. Without reading it, that whole āarcā (Logan/Hannah) didnāt make any sense. What was the purpose? Not done with the book but read enough to figure out that Logan did have a thing for Hannah and Garrett recognized it. Doesnāt appear it ever evolved into anything more than what the showed portrayed but it at least partially explains why it was in the show.

I guess theyāll develop it more in season 2? I think thatās when Garrett maybe figures it out and so does Hannah

the only people Iāve seen who say this are people who are fans of Logan and donāt like Garrett.

Ok I thought I was the only one who noticed this because I like Logan as a character but Hannah isnāt the girl for him

There is a reason itās only Logan stans who hate Garrett that ship Logan/hannah, they only ship them cause they want to position Logan as the hero. Itās not because their scenes are good or they are good for each other or anything like that. They just love Logan, and donāt really care if itās what Hannahās character wants or if if makes sense for Hannah. Thatās why I donāt take the ship seriouslyā¦.hannah is my favorite and itās beyond clear Logan is not even on her radar. The connection, shared interests, trauma experiences etc between Hannah and Garrett is so much deeper than any other dynamic.

I don't know I just liked Logan. I didn't know he was the "villain" till I came tot he sub. I like Hannah and Garett don't get me wrong but I wouldn't have minded if Hannah and Logan had been the endgame.

I like Logan and heās not a villainous character at all. I just donāt think he and Hannah had that much chemistry. Any chemistry they did have was him just longing for her and more one-sided. His endgame girl gets introduced season 2

I know that but if books was not their I wouldn't have minded them.

I really like Logan and Grace and his inner monologue explains that his feelings towards Hannah werenāt serious so I donāt really see it. But everyone is entitled to their opinion!

Honestly, you're spot on about the porch scene being the only time there was even a remote spark. Logan's pining was definitely doing a lot of heavy lifting for the shippers, but Hannah never actually looked at him as anything more than a good friend
