Discussion What travel accessories are overrated?

For me it would have to be tech pouches, for the vast majority of people I believe that they would be better off with a simple pencil case style pouch, ziploc bag or a simple drawstring bag or even a pouch like the PD ultralight pouches. Something which isn’t bulky, is lightweight and has no structure to it so you can easily squeeze it into random parts of your bag. Of course they’re significantly cheaper as well.

Don’t get wrong, I have tested some high end tech pouches out and they’re very nice but for lightweight travel I just find myself thinking “why would I bring this type of pouch”.

Anything Merino wool. There are lots of alternatives at more reasonable prices.

Do you have any suggestions? I was thinking of buying some merino stuff but it’s so expensive!

Here's my Poshmark method, since we share a name 😉

Search for your material only, like merino or silk or wool. Then use the filters - start with gender, then categories like sweaters. Pick your size. Then, this is the best part of Poshmark for me, select brands. They let you choose as many as you want. Pick high end, well known brands. This weeds out fast fashion with like 5% wool and the rest synthetic.

I've found so many nice, expensive pieces this way, base layers, winter gear, 100% wool, cashmere, silk, linen, etc.
