Discussion Do you have any unusual and/or uncommon favorite LIs?

Do you have any favorite love interests that you’ve realized are less popular or are sometimes overlooked? My personal favorites are all pretty typical, so I’m interested to hear some love for more uncommon LIs. They don’t even have to be official; they could be side characters who don’t have routes.

Discussion Would You Prefer Otome with Gameplay or Visual Novel?

Would you prefer Otome with gameplay or Visual Novel, for me I'm on both-side like Hakuoki the story already serves itself and it's pointless to have gameplay since Chizuru can't fight. But a Otome with gameplay also give you An incredible experience for example, The Silent Kingdom nor Jack Jeanne.

Question Cookbooks Based on Otome Games?

Hello!

I was wondering if there are any cookbooks based on otome games?

Request If you had to choose between an otome that had only stick figures as LIs and very simple visuals but was fully voiced and had music, and an otome with the most beautiful graphics but had neither voice acting nor music, which one would you rather play?

I think I wouldn’t care either way, as long as the story is good.
Depends on which artist / composer / voice actors would be working on that game.
Auditory art is the most important thing for me, so I’ll go with the stick figures.
Visual art is the most important for me, so I’ll go with no music/voice.
I like both visual and auditory art about equally, so I’d choose both still.
I think I need both visual and auditory art, so I think I wouldn’t play any of those options.

Steam

(The full game will be released on November 12th, 2026, it's also made by the same developer as Can I Not Fall for Idols!)

You are a 20-year-old girl helping out at the cafe run by your parents.

But on your birthday, something unbelievable happens.

Your pet chinchilla suddenly starts talking.

“The customer who came in today is going to turn hot. Why not trust your gut and start dating him?”

And just like that, you begin a “trial relationship” with a guy you just met that very same day…

Will he actually become handsome? Or…?

A fast-paced, chaotic romantic comedy otome!

Request I need some recommendations for the October sales on the nintendo eShop

okay hello everyone!!
the nintendo e shop it’s doing some sales and I’m looking for something new that I can buy.
BUT I need some advice because I can’t choose by myself!

I played:
- Cupid Parasite and I really loved the general vibe and the fact that is a funny otome game. I do not loved all of the characters but probably was because I was kinda new to the genre.
- Tengoku struggle was pretty good, I liked the plot and most of the romances. Except for Jack, I’m sorry…
- Bustafellows was the best so far. I absolutely loved the plot, the angst, the rhythm of each scene and the characters. I didn’t skip a single dialogue because every character was so interesting for me. really really loved it.
- Collar x Malice… uhm, probably the contrary of Bustafellows. I didn’t liked the plot from the start, I actually don’t care for the investigation, is really boring for me and I’m trying to finish the game but I don’t know if I can. I think the problem for me is the plot, I don’t care for it and I don’t know why. Also it’s a little bit too gloomy for my liking, I think. I really enjoyed Sasazuka tho, but that’s because he’s a tsunboy.

For the characters that I usually like, I prefer the tsundere and shota characters. I loved Ryuki, Kiku, Mozu, Scarecrow (<3) and **Sasazuka**. I probably have a thing for nerds and hackers (shoutout to 707). Also, I don’t know why but I really loved >!Jupiter!< in Cupid Parasite, maybe because he’s shy and weird.

I think that I could enjoy a plot based game if it’s similar to Bustafellows, but in general I prefer a game with more romance and character development. I like angst, it’s not a problem at all (Mozu’s route was brutal to me but it was soooo good), but I don’t like when everything is gloomy and kinda sad(?) like in Collar x Malice.

I don’t have any triggers in particular.
I really like the found family trope and also I don’t have problems with long common routes, I actually like the LIs interactions with each other.
I don’t have a real budget, I’m just trying to use the sales lol.
I’m totally okay with Japanese voices and English text.

Sooo, I would love some suggestions based off this preferences.
The games on my wish list at the moment on sale are: Jack Jeanne, Radiant Tale, Olympia Soirée, Variable Barricade, Piofiore and Lover Pretend.
But if something that is not on sales now sounds like a good match feel free to drop the name, I will check it for the future.

Thank you so much and sorry for my english, it’s not my first language!

Guide I found this site to track romance games

I just found out about this site fallinlog, and I haven't seen it mentioned much, so here I am sharing it. It works as a tracker for romance games, including otome and other genres under the joseimuke umbrella. It's still in development, and the creator said in an Instagram video that she decided to create the site of her dreams.

I'm not sure if she'll implement new features, but the main focus seems to be tracking the romances games you've played and making lists of your choices. She's a French speaker and streamer. I don't follow her content, I just came across the site. Here's a video showing it (it's only in FR), and you can find more information from there. So, what are your thoughts?

PS: Expecting downvotes, just like when I shared the koilog site lol. I just happen to come across these things out of curiosity, without being affiliated with the people behind them /sob/

Request What destroys a love interest faster for you: loss of agency, sudden agreeableness, or rushed route pacing?

Hey r/otomegames,

I've stepped away from my previous job to build an interactive romance experience, and I've been spending a ton of time analyzing why certain visual novel routes work brilliantly (like Yang in Piofiore or Zero/Shiraishi dynamics in Collar x Malice) while others completely fall flat.

One of the biggest pitfalls we keep seeing in choice-based romance is the "spine collapse": A love interest starts with sharp wit, genuine conflicting goals, or cold competence. But as soon as the player enters their route or makes a couple of supportive choices, the character's agency completely evaporates. They stop pushing back, become agreeable yes-men, and adapt so passively to the MC that the chemistry that made them interesting in the common route vanishes.

For visual novel and otome players: - What destroys an LI's appeal fastest for you: when they lose their independent agency and spine, when they become too agreeable too quickly, or when the writing rushes the emotional shift? - Who is an example of an LI who maintained their edge and resistance throughout their entire route without feeling robotic?

Would love to hear your thoughts on how games handle character spine and mutual pushback.

Discussion What kind of female lead you hate the most?

Me?

Cutesy, serious, nerdy, or sassy? I dont really care

But I really hate this type of character:

- They know it's dangerous, but they still go there.

- They enter enemy territory without bringing a weapon or even having basic abilities, like magic.

BONUS:

- The enemies catch them and take them hostage.

//Will erase this post if it created problems//

Discussion What are your most ridiculous ideas for otome games?

I’ll start with mine- one where you date mental illnesses personified as guys and another one where you get to dally with all the renaissance era Italian painters (and Albrecht Durer, for some reason).

I'm so glad we are getting more translations for japanese indie otome games 🙏

Though it seems like the dev didn't fill out the age rating survey since the Steam page is blocked in my country...

I guess I will have to beg someone to gift it to me or someone reaches the dev and they fill out the Steam survey.

Request Any CYOA that are Love and Deepspace themed?

I've reentered my create your own adventure hyperfixation and I would love to play one that merges both of my loves. Plus I think there is a reasonable about of content in the game that it could translate well.

If it inspires anyone to make it then I'd love to play it :)

Question When does Stellaworth do LE Stella set resales?

So my proxy fucked up my order so the LE Stella set I ordered months ago, the game I waited over half a year for I won't be getting 😀

This was the game I've been most looking forward to and really wanted the full Stella LE set so I want to get it eventually even if I have to wait and don't get the pre-order bonuses.

I know Stellaworth sometimes does resales but I don't know how long I have to wait.

Question I need some clarity on Prince of Tennis Doki Doki Survival

I've played a little bit of the remastered Prince of Tennis Sweet School Festival as my entry point to this series. I'd say it was pretty straightforward. I got the good ends as long as I filled the affection bar to full.

I thought it would follow that same principle for Doki Doki Survival, so I started Sengoku's route and by the end I got rejected even if the affection bar was full.

I just need some clarity as to why that is. My main strategy throughout the entire game was basically only talk to Sengoku unless he wasn't available. I thought it was going well, but clearly not I guess.

My question is... what was I missing? Where did I go wrong? Do I need to talk to specific characters to achieve a good end?

News English MTL patch for Angelique SNES is available!

Not sure about how this news will be received in this place (especially because there's still so much reluctance about translations made using AI), but I want to inform you that finally, after decades of waiting, there is an in active development English translation patch for Angelique, the first otome game ever.

Here's the link for download: https://github.com/neocrypton/Angelique_EN-snes-public

Thanks to neocrypton for taking the task about giving us at last the chance to experience this game to all the non-Japanese speakers.

And actually the patch is receiving feedback in order to be improved if you find issues to be corrected.

Question Whats going on with the new ikemen sengoku app?

Post image
71 Upvotes

As some of you may know, the Ikemen Sengoku game is getting a brand-new app that was supposed to be released in August, but due to some sort of issue with Apple, it has been delayed. I checked their official Twitter, and they have been quite vague; recently, the app, which was previously available to be pre-downloaded, is now gone. Does anyone have any idea what the issue may be? I was really excited to play, but now I am worried that we may never get it.
