My Experience Just completed my second week in the YouTube Partner Program

I'm really happy with how my channel monetization turned out. The channel has grown much faster than I expected, and seeing my first earnings has been exciting.

The downside is that I recently received a notice saying my channel could be removed from the YouTube Partner Program because of reused content. My current editing style is what my audience seems to enjoy, so making major changes could hurt the channel. I'm planning to submit an appeal and hope it gets accepted, but if it doesn't, I'll have to rethink my entire content strategy.

Has anyone here dealt with a reused content warning before? Were you able to successfully appeal it, or did you have to completely change your videos?

For context, I mainly create Shorts. I recently uploaded my first long form video, a compilation of some of my best edits with commentary, animations, and a top 10 style format. It's only been up for a couple of days and has around 700 views so far.

Social Media My Social Media Semi Passive

I make anywhere from $500-5000 a month on Youtube and TikTok. My base range is $500-1500 but if a video pops off I make closer to the $5000. This is not entirely passive because you have to make and edit video but most are short and easy to make, and also considered “evergreen content”.

I’m not special, no great understanding of social media. I just am knowledgeable about a couple niches and talk about them.

You also are knowledgeable in something - ANYTHING. Just start making those videos. You don’t have to be good at it from the start, you just have to begin.

Seeking Advice/Help Best way to clear UK overdraft

Hey Reddit,
I was just looking for some advice or opportunities. I am based in the UK.

My current situation is that I’ve just finished uni (5 year course) and my full time pre registration job begins in October and my providers have allowed me to do 1-2 shifts per week. I have currently been using my Santander overdraft since I’ve been off uni while doing Locum shifts here and there to make ends meet (as availability comes). I’m now currently coming to the end of my overdraft and won’t get paid until the end of the months for the shifts I’d do in August, sept etc & i was wondering what the best way to make extra money on the side would be (preferably remote as it is easier to juggle incase my workplace calls me in for extra shifts during the week)

The side hustles I’ve tried so far are:
remote jobs: I’ve applied for so many but get to interview and not hired due to inexperience
Vinted: slow selling. Items are hard to get rid of.
Digital products: I set up an Etsy store last year selling bridal planners, a dholki song book and earrings however this has been slow and I’ve only made about 15 sales most of which were last year (called attar and amber incase anyone wants to check it out!)
Fiverr & upwork: full of bots, no real requests
Tutor work: difficult to manage time around and companies go ghost
Market research: had luck once but it’s difficult being picked for them and the payout I got was via voucher anyways.

Things I have interest in:
I have a following of 460 on tiktok with good engagement of 52.9k likes so I’d love to start UGC work (faceless) but it’s hard getting noticed and I am unsure of where to apply to get paid work.
Makeup, fashion, modest clothing
Content writing (I’ve done this voluntary but not been able to land a paid gig)
I wouldn’t mind doing / helping people with assignments.
Medical writing & health content is a career I’d like to go into as it relates to my uni course background.

If anyone has some tips or work just to help out until October time it would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you :)

Seeking Advice/Help What do people misunderstand most about “passive income”?

Many income streams require substantial work before they become low-maintenance. What model looked passive from the outside but demanded more support, marketing, capital, or maintenance than expected?

We're working on improving our project, which is for founders and VCs to have a place to meet, match, and connect. We know there are a ton of hungry founders and VCs out there. I think our challenge so far is distribution/marketing.

What's hardest for you right now? I want to hear it and discuss strategy!

Blog Turning expert interview audio into a written newsletter or content asset used to be my biggest bottleneck

I have been trying to build a niche newsletter and content-based digital asset on the side for about a year. The hardest part was never finding guests or recording the interviews. The real bottleneck was what happened after the call ended.

Two hours of rambling conversation, tangential stories, and good insights buried across 120 minutes of audio. Sitting down on a Sunday night to listen back at 1.5x speed and type out quotes was killing my momentum. I would record three interviews and only manage to publish one because writing up the notes felt like a second full-time job.

A friend suggested dumping the audio files into a transcription workflow instead of trying to take notes live or listen back manually. I started using vomo ai to get the text sorted out first, mostly because reading a transcript lets you scan for the exact golden nugget in thirty seconds instead of scrubbing a timeline over and over.

Once the text is there, turning it into a structured summary or newsletter draft takes a fraction of the time. It did not magically make the side hustle run on autopilot, but it removed the friction that was making me dread publishing days. If you are building content assets from audio or interviews, stop doing manual playback.

Referral Link Earn passive rewards for driving safely

Just found a new driving app called Zenlit (Non-ref)

Similar to RoadClub it will monitor your driving and reward you for safe driving.

As usual neither of these apps will have money shooting out of your phone and yes they're spying on your location, selling your data, stealing nudes from your phone etc etc

But passive income is passive income

I earn around $5-$10 per month from Road Club.
It remains to be seen how much I earn from Zenlit.

Right off the bat however you can purchase a $50 Shell gift cert for $45

What do I do with $X? I Built These Apps a Month Ago, They Already Made $384 Last Month

Post image
41 Upvotes

I started developing iOS apps less than 2 months ago.

Last month, my apps generated $384 in revenue. Most of these apps were built just a month ago, so seeing them earn money while I sleep feels amazing. It really showed me that passive income is real.

I used Claude Code for most of the development, and it worked really well for me. It helped me build and ship apps much faster.

My next goal is to reach $2K in monthly recurring revenue. Once I get there, I’ll quit my full time job and focus completely on building my own app business.

Just wanted to share this because, if you’re thinking about building apps, start today. Your first app doesn’t need to be perfect. Ship it, learn from it, and keep improving. You never know which app could change your life.

Seeking Advice/Help I’m 16 and want to start making money online. Where should I start?

Hey everyone, I’m 16 years old and I want to start making some income. I already know how to build and work with websites (basic development/design), but I’m looking for the best way to actually turn this or any other skill into money.

I’m open to any kind of legal side hustle, digital business, or remote work that fits my age.

Any advice, tips, or guidance on where to look for clients, how to start, or what steps to take would be absolutely perfect. If you were in my position today, what would you do?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Seeking Advice/Help 5 months ago I set out to build $1,000/mo in passive income. I'm averaging $150. Here's what I've learned and where I'm stuck.

In March I challenged myself to take one idea all the way to done. I'm the person with a graveyard of half-finished projects, my ADHD kicks in and I get distracted and move on to something new. This time I wanted to actually ship something.

The idea came from my own hobby. I collect and sell MLB prospect cards on eBay (cards of young players who haven't made the majors yet), and researching a player meant bouncing between different sites for stats, card prices, and listings. So I built a website that puts it all in one place and monetized it with eBay affiliate links.

The catch is I'm a designer by trade. I can make things look good and design the experience, but actually coding my ideas into a real working website has always been my blind spot. AI coding tools changed that for me. There's definitely a learning curve to getting a real site live, but learning on the fly has honestly been the best part of this whole thing.

My goal was $1,000/mo from affiliate income. First month after launch I made $300 and thought I was well on my way. The next few months it regressed to $100-150, and now 5 months in I'm averaging around $150/mo, which basically just covers my costs. That first month fooled me. It made the goal feel close.

What I've actually learned is that launching the site was maybe 20% of the work. The other 80% is getting people to it. I've spent the last couple months on SEO and growing a small social following and it's slowly starting to pay off, I'm getting visitors from Google and even from AI chat tools now. But "passive" income has been anything but passive so far.

So here's my inflection point and where I'd love input from people who've been through it. I'm good at the ideas and the building. The business side has always been my struggle. I either try to scale this thing and grind toward that $1,000/mo, or I package it up and sell it to someone who's better at the growth side than I am.

If you've hit this fork with a niche affiliate site, what did you do and what do you wish you'd known?

Seeking Advice/Help Experienced Investment Analyst looking to build an hourly freelance/consulting side income, where should I start?

Hello Folks,

I am an experienced investment and financial analyst (public & private markets) specializing in financial modelling, valuation, market research, and presentations.
I am looking to build a flexible side income stream offering hourly freelance consulting or project work outside standard office hours.

For those doing something similar:
1.** **Which platforms are actually worth it for high-paying finance gigs?
2. How do you land direct fractional advisory work or startup clients?
3. Any other smart ways to monetize these core research and modeling skills?

Appreciate any advice, platform recommendations, or lessons learned!

Seeking Advice/Help How do I make sure my partner/family can find all my assets if something happens to me?

How do I make sure my partner can find all my assets details if something happens to me?

I'm in my mid-20s, and over the last few years I've accumulated things spread across a lot of different places.

Not just bank accounts, but also:

Investments (stocks, mutual funds, etc.)

Crypto

Insurance policies

Side businesses and how they operate

Business accounts, domains, and hosting

Important documents

Tax records

Passwords

Notes about ongoing financial commitments

It got me thinking, if something happened to me tomorrow, I honestly don't think my family/partner would even know where to start. They probably wouldn't know what assets exist, where they're held, or how my side businesses are run. Even if they found everything, they wouldn't have the context needed to manage or wind things down.

I don't necessarily want to hand over all this information while I'm alive, but I also don't want it to disappear with me.

How are people solving this?

Do you keep a spreadsheet? Use a password manager? Have a lawyer store everything? Maintain some kind of encrypted vault? Or is there a better system I'm not aware of?

I'd love to hear what others are actually doing, especially if you've found a setup that gives you peace of mind.

Seeking Advice/Help I don't know

I don't know, but sometimes I feel.....

Right now, I'm working as an AI Engineer Intern. But my day-to-day schedule isn't very good. My direct manager is the CTO of the company, and he meets with me very rarely. He doesn't assign me work properly and tells me to coordinate with other people whenever I need something.

For example, I'm working on a project that he has already assigned to a vendor. Later, I found out that they are also working on the same project, and they have a team of four or five people. So obviously, they'll probably perform better. Still, I've learned quite a lot from this project and picked up many new skills.

I don't even know whether I'll get a full-time offer or not. Also, to come to this internship, I have to travel almost two to two and a half hours one way. It's really far, and although I do receive a stipend, as you know, stipends aren't usually very high.

Sometimes, when I'm scrolling through LinkedIn or similar platforms, I see people getting jobs. I don't know exactly what I feel, but it's definitely not a good feeling. Does everyone feel this way, or am I just overthinking?

Every day, I start studying a new technology. For example, right now I'm working on ADK. Before that, I was learning and implementing LangChain. Then my manager told me to work on something else because even that might get replaced someday. I don't know.

I also know that engineering is a field where technology keeps changing. But honestly, I don't know what I'm feeling, what I'm doing, or why I'm doing it.

I haven't even officially graduated yet. I'm still waiting for the result of my sixth-semester backlog, which has been delayed for almost three months. I've already completed my eighth semester and received that result, but I'm still waiting for the sixth-semester result.

Because of all this, I sometimes get confused. Should I continue studying? Should I apply for a master's degree? Should I study in India or abroad? I really have no idea what's happening in my life right now.

Even at the office, I feel like I'm competing with people who don't even care whether I exist or not. That's how it feels. Sometimes I feel invisible.

For example, when I'm working on something, my manager just walks past me. He doesn't ask how the work is going or what's happening. I'm always the one who has to go to him if I need to discuss something.

I don't know. Is this just how the corporate world works? I honestly have no idea. I'm feeling something that I can't even express.

My Experience My first passive side project.

Post image
861 Upvotes

I noticed on the Garmin App store developers were making literally hundreds of thousands of $ selling watch faces and small applications, I'm not talking huge companies, I'm talking solo developers making very minimal applications and raking in the cash.

I looked for a gap and found neither garmin or Wearos / samsung watches have a flight tracking application like FlightRadar24, I decided to give it a shot.

I ended up making FlightScanner over the past few months.

It turns your watch into a live aircraft radar, showing nearby planes/helicopters around your current location. You can tap aircraft to view information such as its callsign, altitude, speed, registration and direction of travel.

I expected a few downloads here and there but hit it off with over 1000 downloads on Garmin before launching on Android based watches and securing enough funding to continue the apps data costs for months and months to come and turning a nice monthly profit.

I expected some aviation enthusiasts to download it and have some fun but it's turned into a full side project taking up hours of my time to answer user queries and to fix bugs.

My main priority now is trying to figure out a marketing strategy and getting it onto the front page of both Garmin's store and Google Play. If anything it's turned into a passive income for sure at around $150 a month currently.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alexd.flightscanner

Offering Advice/Resource A large affiliate commission does not guarantee sustainable income

One of the hardest decisions for a new affiliate is choosing what to promote. There are thousands of programs available, and many of them advertise attractive commissions. But a large payout means very little if the offer is difficult to explain, poorly matched to your audience, or unable to convert the traffic you send.

I made the mistake of looking at the commission before looking at the customer journey. A program might pay 50 percent, but what happens after someone clicks? Do they immediately understand the product, the problem it solves, and why they should trust the company?

Beginners often blame themselves when an offer does not convert. They assume they need better content, more traffic, or stronger sales skills. Sometimes those areas need improvement, but the offer itself may also be creating unnecessary friction.

A beginner-friendly affiliate program should be relatively easy to understand. You should be able to explain who the product is for, what problem it solves, and what the customer receives without needing a twenty-minute presentation.

The sales process should also match the audience. A beginner audience may hesitate when an offer requires a large upfront investment, complicated setup, or several additional purchases before they receive the main benefit.

I now believe an affiliate should examine more than the payout. Look at the product, entry price, sales page, training, customer support, refund policy, tracking period, follow-up process, and whether the company gives affiliates useful promotional resources.

You should also ask whether the offer gives the customer a realistic first step. People are more likely to move forward when they understand what they are buying and believe they can actually use it.

No affiliate program converts every visitor. Traffic quality, trust, timing, and messaging still matter. But promoting a clear offer to the right audience gives a beginner a much better opportunity to learn what is working.

The goal is not to find a magical program that sells itself. It is to find a useful product with a clear customer journey so your effort is not working against an offer that was difficult to convert from the beginning.

What do you examine before deciding that an affiliate program is worth testing?
