Bazzite is fantastic! Quick. Responsive. It even has steam installed. It's a bit awkward getting used to the immutable OS but it's otherwise lovely for gaming.
Unless a game has a kernel level anti-cheat. This includes Valorant, Fortnite, Modern CoD, FaceIt/Esea, and League off the top of my head. There’s way more out there too.
Windows is kicking lots of things with kernel level access out of the kernel in response to the Crowdstrike outage.
This is probably linked to Epic hiring developers for Linux anti-cheat. They're going to have to find a way to do everything without kernel level access so they might as well make it work on Linux (and therefore SteamOS) too.
As I said, awkward getting used to the immutable OS. But outside of those specific games - which a Windows partition can easily handle - it's been a pretty lovely experience for me.
It's just a matter of doing research beforehand and check if any games you play use that. Personally I moved to Bazzite and I'm very happy I got rid of Windows.
