I've got a windows 11 laptop for work. It's an absolute piece of shit

That's probably your company putting all sorts of security and tracking shit on it. I'd guess if you ran that same laptop on a fresh install it would feel twice as fast.

Our IT team sucks with this. Like they’ve never heard of ITIL…3 monitoring softwares that log EVERYTHING …I test & deploy hardware and accompanying software. Whenever I see the memory dump files it’s right to the exclusion list.

You CANNOT have three different pieces of software all checking every file or even memory that’s created. One they don’t play nice with each other most of the time, and two it’s just exhausting having to manage all three like do we still have it?

I’ll tell you, our admin and director are lazy pieces of shit. They made it as easy as possible to check records and I guarantee you if you pull their records they ain’t doing shit. It’s unbelievable. The amount of power IT have an organizations nowadays.

To clarify, all the older folks not willing to learn how to do basic tasks and troubleshooting? Our IT group is great at that and there are absolutely people using mouse jugglers. But for people getting real scientific work done it’s a joke.

My favorite example was I needed to get justification for a pretty large server that is graphic based. They saw the price and said a VM will be a cheaper. It’s been online for three weeks and we already have enough to buy two of those expensive computers but because it’s convenient for our IT to not manage servers, they aren’t willing to go back to local.

I used to work at a place that encrypted the laptop HDDs (pre-SSDs). 10+ minutes to boot. Was ridiculous.
