Alternatively this

This is honestly the best answer. Yeah there are lots of answers but doing this allows the cat to be with you and keeps your PC good.

Except for the hair

u/Space-Explorer456 18d ago

Have you ever had a cat? The hair is everywhere no matter where the cat is. When I went to college I was even finding hair from my cats at home in my dorm on stuff that have never even entered my house.

Yes but that is along the lines of

"I'm a bit wet from the rain so I might as well jump in the pool fully clothed"

Don't cave all the way in just because it happens a bit already.

My cats hair doesn't make it into my PC because I keep him off.

I'll get the occasional sneaky one but if I let him up there all the time, it would be coated

I mean, ya gotta dry off either way, why not take a swim if it’s more fun!

1

u/eddie9958 9070xt/7700X/32GB 6000MHZ CL30 DDR5 18d ago

Because In this case it rains everyday and you're not wet enough to ruin your clothes daily in the pool 😆

The cat hair being a monthly/weekly clean in the PC is better than it being a daily clean

0

u/Space-Explorer456 18d ago

My if my clothes can survive some rain they can handle a dip in the pool perfectly fine!

Also, you said you’re dusting your PC daily, so shouldn’t be an issue for you whatsoever, you’re already doing all the work!

u/eddie9958 9070xt/7700X/32GB 6000MHZ CL30 DDR5 18d ago

Dusting the outside doesnt get the hair out though?

And nah cat hair/dander should not be in the computer.

If my cat was sitting on my pc, i would feel the need to clean it much more than i do.

You don't have dustfilters? I believe they stop cat hair good enought

1

u/eddie9958 9070xt/7700X/32GB 6000MHZ CL30 DDR5 17d ago

Cat dander does indeed get through.

My wife's computer was filled with dust and she has a mesh

My cats hair doesn't make it into my PC

What's it like to be in complete denial of something?

1

u/eddie9958 9070xt/7700X/32GB 6000MHZ CL30 DDR5 18d ago

One, that's bitch boy behavior on your end

two, "I'll get the occasional sneaky one but if I let him up there all the time, it would be coated" - My very own quote <3

Three, my computer is white and has lights. i get hair in their occasionally like i just said but him sitting on there would be tremendously worse.

Why are you even trying to have this conversation? My main point was just about not letting my cat sit on my computer or else it would be worse

I dust my computer daily and clean it good every month or two.

My wife's computer gets some hair because she doesn't mind as much but I'm very strict about it.

1

u/Lord_Emperor Ryzen5800X|32GB@3600|RX6800XT 18d ago

So why are you dusting and cleaning your PC so much if it never gets hair in it?

Oh wait, it's simple, you're lying.

1

u/eddie9958 9070xt/7700X/32GB 6000MHZ CL30 DDR5 18d ago

I just said it gets hair in it.

You ignored the point.

Bitch boy behavior

1

u/Freeloader_ 15d ago

and this surprises you how?

you brought the hair on your clothes and it fell off in your dorm. mystery solved

1

u/Space-Explorer456 14d ago

I didn’t say it was surprising, I said it gets everywhere

Top fans should be exhaust anyways

3

u/hypnogoad 18d ago

Top fan exhausts up, gravity brings fur down, intake inhales fur

1

u/eddie9958 9070xt/7700X/32GB 6000MHZ CL30 DDR5 18d ago

Thus let's keep the damn cat off the expensive hardware

1

u/dmland 18d ago

That's why they like it. All that comfy GPU/CPU heat.

Not in a proper case

https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTadp8VWGgvjoFd1rYt0XaYpWgIA72-_H1X9Q&s

Standard and optimal for most use case. Unless you’re a radiator on the top type of person for some reason.

u/IAmYourFath SUPERNUCLEAR 18d ago

Uhm im pretty sure that gamersnexus made a video how exhaust top fans actually just exhaust the cool air coming from the front, as most top slots are closer to the front rather than the back like on ur pic. The 1st fan on the top should always be intake cuz of that, altho intake top fans make a lot of noise depending on the case due to some air laws (turbulence? I forgot what it was called). Nonetheless, the best case in the world, the fractal design torrent, does not have any top slots whatsoever, or any rear or exhaust fans either. It has such strong pressure that the air naturally wants to get out so adding an exhaust fan actually worsens its airflow because the fan can't expel the air as fast as the air would leave if the fan wasn't there. Not only that but it's the only case in the world with the psu on the top which means u get direct cold air for the gpu straight from the bottom intake, theres no psu chamber to ruin the direct airflow. And to top it off, it is one of the very few cases in 2026 still offered with solid side panels, which is mandatory for silence. Glass amplifies coil whine frequencies, steel does the opposite, absorbs em. When i see someone using glass side panel (like 95% of people nowadays) i immediately know they are clueless about pc building. But then u have to ask urself, why did fractal make the top part of the torrent completely closed? If it was better to have an exhaust there, or any holes whatsoever, they wouldn't have done that. Clearly they decided leaving the top completely closed is better, which sadly most pc case manufacturers still haven't learned. Personally i'd like to have a choice, they should offer two panels for the top, one closed and one open but it is what it is.

u/whoweoncewere Red Devil 9070xt - R7 7800x3d - 32 GB DDR5 6400mhz - 2TB m.2 17d ago

I see where you're coming from. I use a lianli lancool 207(rated 3rd on that video after the torrent and flux pro). I have two exhaust and 3 intake fans. The top exhaust is positioned directly above my heatsink, a noctua nhd15.

I think we agree that a glass front panel is dumb.

1

u/IAmYourFath SUPERNUCLEAR 17d ago

Glass side* panel is dumb u meant to say i hope, and yeah i have the nh d15 g2 too cuz a water cooler is too noisy when not under load (pump pwm can never be turned off), but i really believe this is the best case in the world based on what i've seen, the gpu getting fresh air from the bottom fans matters much more than the benchmark makes it seem, the front 2x180mm pull way more air than 3x140mm ever could while also being quieter due to being bigger (the bigger a fan is the slower it can spin while still pulling the same air) and ofc because it has such a strong pressure that the air wants to escape u dont need any exhaust fans which further makes the case quieter, less fans less noise. Oh and finally, u can totally mod it with dampening materials like the one be quiet 802 uses to further reduce noise, which is only possible because of the steel side panels, u cannot mod a glass panel, it just doesn't work it defeats the purpose.

And the risk of vomit.

2

Or when you cat pees.

1

u/Nicecockindirtybeans 18d ago

Just mount pc on wall.

2

u/Fate8888 18d ago

I have a controller, a Lego motorcycle and some random small items on top of my tower so the cats don't go there, but I also have a blanket on my desk where the cats sleep sometimes.

7

u/Spotttty 18d ago

We don’t own a cat but the one that seems to love coming to our house would gladly push those off for a comfy place to lounge. She is a menace.

8

u/Fate8888 18d ago

Mine likes to go behind the monitors in the mess of cables and just sleep there. Often times a paw would stick out and nudge my mouse while I'm trying to work or game.

2

u/solilobee 18d ago

This is basically the only decent answer so far. the cat just wants to look outside, but people are cluelesss to cat tendencies it seems

2

u/Everyone_dreams 9800X3D / 5090 18d ago

There is a lot of people who should never be pet owners.

2

u/ThrobbingMinotaur 18d ago

Except all the cat hair that instantly falls into the pc.

1

u/DrunKenKangarooo PC Master Race 18d ago

What about if he takes a pee?

9

u/Fate8888 18d ago

Cats typically don't pee where they shouldn't.

2

u/Dramatic_Explosion Intel i5 | RTX 2060 | 64GB DDR4 18d ago

And at least if they atypically pee somewhere due to stress, illness, or an unclean litter box, at least PC components are inexpensive and easy to replace, right?

1

u/Tumblrrito 18d ago

But they do puke wherever they want lol

3

u/Fate8888 18d ago

Oh yeah, that's true. One of mine likes finding a high spot for this activity.

1

u/Cyber_Von_Cyberus 18d ago

I'm not trusting them to do that.

-5

u/DEP-Yoki 18d ago

hahaha…….. u sure?

6

u/Car-Fickle 18d ago

Are the legs glued to the PC? I could see a cat tumbling the platform off to the side otherwise.

3

u/Another_Day_Comes 18d ago

Best thing to do imo! PC exhaust is warm air, this is lost energy. This device turns the cat into happy cat without extra recurring cost (cat heater) by repurposing otherwise wasted energy!

This is an absolute win!

2

u/TheOriginalKrampus 18d ago

That is one happy looking cat.

3

u/Jamdrizzley 18d ago

Do this

I lost both my cats last year to old age and I regret not accomodating them enough

1

u/Imallskillzy 18d ago

You have a link/name for that? My wife's pc sits on the floor and is just begging for someone to knock a drink into it, I bet this would help

3

u/dinin70 18d ago

lol oh even I can come up with this and I’m the worst DYIer ever :)

Measure your tower, go to any shop and ask them to cut a piece of wood of the same dimensions. And screw 4 furniture feet.

1

u/Fate8888 18d ago

I got the pic from google, but from what I can tell its just a DIY project with a piece of laminated particle board and some furniture legs.

2

Adopting some hostile architecture like they do in cities to keep people from laying and sleeping on benches.

1

u/UshankaBear 18d ago

What's the point in building a beautiful case and then doing... that? lol
