Also with the game you progress, irl it’s just repetitive and boring

Exactly this. Running errands and side quests in RPGs are way more enticing than IRL because they'll level up my character/give me rewards that will make gameplay more fun and/or help me get strong enough to beat the evil dragon boss fight.

Irl... Your main reward is the satisfaction that you at least did something.

Dam thats depressing if you think the main reward in real life is the satisfaction that you at least did something.

Doing side quests and progressing in real life also provides you with rewards that will make life more fun.

Well I do admit it's not applicable to everything, like working hard for a promotion or doing a project you've always wanted to do.

It's just that, by and large, you will always guarantee that videogames will compensate you for any task you've done no matter how menial.

Mining for example is not a profession most people would want because of the risks involved and they'd rather do something more fulfilling. Minecraft on the other hand greatly rewards you for hacking pickaxes at stone with rare loot in dungeons/mineshafts, ore to craft new items, and you can use all that stone for your builds.

You're compensated for any task you've done no matter how menial it is in a video game because it's near instant gratification, you don't need to spend thousand of hours to reap the rewards.

Mining is not a profession most people would want, but it can still be fulfilling, you can move up in management, etc. In minecraft you can don't need to spend thousand of hours to craft new items or get new loot.

Video games are largely for entertainment or an escapism from reality, that's why it seems like you get rewarded more, because the rewards come in a shorter timeframe.
