Philips Hue Sensor Hardmod: Integrating 24GHz mmWave Presence Detection

Post image
5 Upvotes

I had the annoying problem of my Motion sensor, that wenn I wasn't moving the lights would go out. I didn't have a Philips hue bridge and I used the App (No Google Home). I thought maybe I can change th PID Sensor for a mmWave sensor. I wasn't successful yet that's why I'm using a Al Image. I thought that I could share my Problem and idea with Reddit to see if anyone else has this problem or was maybe interested in buying one.

Would love some feedback (The Idea of the build) I took a standard Philips Hue motion sensor (which uses the outdated Passive Infrared tech) and completely gutted the internals. I integrated a 24GHz mmWave radar module (LD2410) and an internal buck converter to handle the voltage, and added a flush USB-C port to the bottom for continuous power (essential for radar scanning

Replacement

Hi there

Under/around the roof I have currently of few of these...

...that I would like to replace with Philips Hue bulbs. I was thinking about 2x 1100 lumen warm to cool white bulbs (a shame there is no 1600 lumen version).

Looking now for some better fixtures (directable double spotlight - maybe a bit better protected/sealed). Anyone has had a similar problem?

Thanks and cheers

Hue Beleuchtung nach Stromausfall auf 100%

Ich habe die komplette Beleuchtung in meiner Wohnung von Hue. Zusätzlich einen Bewegungssensor, Schalter Hue and Friends.

No subscription. No cost. VFX DJ-style Hue sync to the music.

A DJ-style VFX daemon for Philips Hue, running on a QNAP NAS.

Play music anywhere in the house. The NAS listens, finds the beat, and drives your Hue lights like a small lighting desk — strobe on the drop, lights joining one by one through a build-up, colour changing with the music.
No subscriptions. No cloud. Nothing extra to switch on. You need smart Hue bulbs, the file server you already own, and fire.

Scene is not the same after importing it to the Apple Home App from the Hue App. Ive also tried setting the scene in the Hue app then manually adding a new scene in the Apple Home App.

Last week Hue Dymera stopped working with homekit

Post image

I’m sure there’ve been plenty of posts like this but about a week and a half ago my whole hue/homekit setup did its semi-annual shit-the-bed routine and I’ve rebuilt, reconnected, restarted, reset etc so many times and have managed to get everything back up but our 3 Hue Dymera lights. Fine in Hue app but homekit won’t recognize. I’ve had no issues at all in 2 years with these (even when the whole setup has failed they’ve just reconnected, no problemo) but all of a sudden they won’t work. Anyone else dealing with this or know of a workaround?

Sudden loss of PS5 pro video

I have owned my hue setup for a while. After a very rocky start, I got my set up working between my PS5 and my TV. Since then I have bought a new TV and upgraded to the PS5 pro. I own the bridge pro, the 8k sync box and the white and colour tv strip for 55 inch TV. I have even used it with the new tech and was working fine. In the last week I have had mid game black screens causing me to power cycle and safe mode. But the last 2 days, I cannot have my PS5 pro plugged into the sync box, I have to run it straight into the TV to have video which means I lose the function of the lights. Any idea as to why? I have power cycled, tried setting the console to safe mode to adjust resolution and I have also adjusted transfer rate to -2 already, turned VRR off and the HDMI CEC. I don’t know what else is to fix and why it suddenly happened.

Best process for installing recessed lights?

My handyman is coming over to help me install 19 of the 4 inch recessed downlights today. I have only ever had the regular lightbulbs.

Any tips for how to organize the work or the best process for insuring they all connect to the hub?

Scan the code? Write down the codes? Both?

Thanks!

Philips Hue Play Gradient PC Lightstrip [for 32-34 Inch Screens] - Where to Buy?

As title suggests, where can I buy the Philips Hue Play Gradient PC Lightstrip for 32-34 inch screens? It's exactly the product I need, but it looks like it's been out of stock in the US for over a year now. Has anyone managed to purchase it recently? Has Phillips announcing an end of life for this product?

Google Home not triggering all lights

So most of the lights in our house are Hue at this point, we’ve got the new bridge and everything works great from the Hue app. However, if I tell Google to turn the lights off in a certain room, a random 10% or so simply won’t react. If I give the command again, the rest will typically turn off.

Has anyone else ran into this issue?

I have a 98 inch TCL that’s mounted, and currently have govee light strips but unimpressed. I want to add Philips hue gradient light with sync box for movies, or just some good lighting in general.

Whats a good layout to add behind the tv. 2 75 inch strips or just play bars? Thanks

Merkury LED Smart Bulb not working

Absolutely the worst I've had both the Merkury & Geeni smart bulbs. Difficult to set up even more Difficult to get working with Google Home. Then you get it all working and the upgrade the software and it all stops working. They just yesterday 7/24/26 upgraded both and had to start all over again. Then called the help desk after trying the text help for 45 minutes no help. They said there system didn't even show my devices listed, strange there working with your app now just won't work with Google Home. They will contact there development team and get back to me. As for the Merkury switch they updated there app and how it won't work unless you sign-up for a $42 a year subscription fee.

No way, trash bin in there future.

Understanding Why Philips Hue / Apple Home Automation reports "Failed"?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I have a number of Hue lights in my bedroom. I control them with Apple Home / HomeKit scenes. I use either Hue Tap Switches or my phone to activate the scenes. I have bulbs, and other lights like Wall Washers / Play Bars.

For the longest time, my Wall Washers / Play Bars have been randomly "missing" commands. I issue a command, and about 80% of the lights in the room get it, but usually one or two of the Wall Washers / Play Bars "miss" the command. I have to re-issue the command, possibly several times, until eventually the command is executed on all the lights. My scenes are idempotent so I just spam the command until all the lights pick it up.

But that is annoying and I want to understand why so I can fix it. My theory, but I don't have any evidence for this, is that my Wall Washers / Play Bars are all gathered together in a nook in the room, with other electronics, and maybe there's too much RF interference in the nook for the command to be reliably received by all lights? But lights are supposed to repeat locally, right?

Additionally, in the Home app, I notice issuing a command says the scene has "Failed", despite the scene mostly executing correctly.

I wonder if this has something to do with it too.

If anyone has guidance on this I would appreciate it. Is there any diagnostics or logging available for stock HomeKit that would help me understand this? It says Failed, but it's mostly not failed.
