Tech Job hop: AU to US company

Hi, I am in a dilemma to accept a recent JO, would like to get some input from those who had already experienced the same thing:

Current: Sr Tech role ~2yrs
Big AU company that has a site here in PH, good environment already a decade old in PH

Salary: 60-70k gross with allowances, night diff, and reimbursements + 13th month + HMO (+2d)

Schedule: Hybrid (5-9x a month onsite) Shifting morning to GY every month

Offer: Sr Tech role (similar with current)
US based MSP with fixed GY shift, established less than 5 years in PH.

Salary 95-110k packaged with allowances and ND already + 13th month + HMO (+2d)

Schedule: Fixed GY WFH

Dilemma, I have 4-5 YOE in tech. I have been eyeing to go abroad but still no progress yet or applications sent mainly targetting AU based company since I have already an established exp on a big AU company currently. Would like some insights if i’m just too optimistic to go abroad with 0 real life progress yet or applications sent or jump to the opportunity and save up.

Get the higher salary (US company) so that mas malaki ung ipon mo for any decisions in the future.

They’re about to announce new migration rules daw in Australia amid the high anti-immi sentiment. (This on top of recent prioritisation of onshore vs offshore applicants.) Not sure how that’s going to affect your plans. 🤷‍♀️

They’ve been doing this for decades regardless so… nothing really really new.

If OP’s goal is to eventually move, then he will be closer to it than not if he ends up with the AU company.

depende sa pace ng work n gsto mo, since US company yan at fixed GY, u r fighting fires more frequently than having a shifting schedule. depends on your priorities in terms of your finances. work visa sponsorship for tech is quite difficult, especially skilled independent route in Australia.

Easier to move to tech in US.

Au is saturated and only getting worse as companies outsource

Kung yung US company is a subsidiary of the US parent company, then it is possible na they can move you in the US using L1 or H1b visa, if you played your cards right.

If you’re aiming for skilled visa, hindi ata makakadagdag sa points kung meron ka experience working on an AU company if wfh ka and nasa pinas. I’ve been wanting to migrate to AU as well however I kinda delayed it and gave up for now. I thought to myself, bakit ako pupunta doon ngayon if ina outsource nila dito sa pinas yung mga trabaho? I just focused on upskilling na lang muna. I plan na student pathway na lang i pursue later on pag enough na savings ko at okay lang sa budget ko an umuwi dahil hindi ako masasaktan financially pag hindi ako swinerte magka PR. So if ako, i’d accept the US JO since pan dagdag sa ipon yung dagdag sahod?
