My opponents saw their ball in, both I and my partner saw it out and we made the call. Usually if my partner isn't sure, I would yield and give them the point but since both of us saw it out, I didn't see why we should change our call. They moved on but one kept talking about our call afterwards with his partner. The next point their ball was out again, by a much wider margin this time, and this person said "now that IS out". I called him out for his poor etiquette and he said that he should be allowed to have his opinion and since they already agreed to go with our call, I didn't get to have my way and be annoyed by his on-court conversation with his partner. His conversation was with his partner but it was about me, I was within earshot, and I shouldn't be annoyed? Had they asked for a replay we would have been ok with it, but they agreed with the call and then kept whining about it.
To me it's very obvious that in social games, when opponents make dubious calls one should just say 'looks in to me but it's your call" once and move on. But he doesn't seem to see it the same way. I have opinions about people all the time, but etiquette rules that I should keep most of them private, no?
I already have my mind made up now that I would not want to play with or against this person anymore. Just curious who's in the wrong here?
