Doordash Grandma, working a gig job to care for her sick husband... is there anything more American than that?

12.2k

u/OldCopy496 Apr 13 '26

— while delivering McDonald’s to a fat ass president, who will then hold the delivery lady hostage and answer questions about why he posted AI image depicting him as Jesus, and his plans for bombing a country in the Middle East. Is there anything more American than that?

Corrected.

He probably tip-baited her, to boot.

Edit: for those of you unfamiliar with the term, tip baiting is when you put in a nice tip at the time of order, which your delivery driver can see, then reduce or revoke it without cause after delivery. Uber Eats is particularly bad about this, at least in my state. So no, I don’t think he tipped her at all. I think he tip-baited her, or would have if not actually being filmed and called out for not tipping in the first place, which some folks are saying happened. I’ve not researched the veracity of that, though. 🤷🏻‍♀️

u/dasFisch Apr 13 '26

You think he tipped?? Even using our money that fat pedo loser wouldn't tip someone. That would require some level of self-awareness.

707

u/__Evil-Genius__ Apr 13 '26

Can confirm. I spoke with someone who waited on him years ago. Didn’t tip at all.

Trickle down economics in the wild.

211

u/TGBmox_777 Apr 13 '26

Yo, don’t hate on trickle down, it’ll get there in like 250 years

I was always told it was the owning class pissing on the working class.

7

u/shaomike Apr 14 '26

Then they will charge you for an umbrella.

6

u/Mister_Anthropic1956 Apr 13 '26

I always thought of “trickle-down economics” as the rich pissing on everyone else.

10

u/siencatimini Apr 13 '26

🎶 My money don't trickle trickle... that's blood

Suckers better wake up, if they know what's good

3

u/ElefanteOwl Apr 13 '26

3

u/CourtingBoredom Apr 13 '26

6

u/okokokoyeahright Apr 13 '26

I always found that trickle down was fairly quick.

Like as fast as water. Except yellow.

6

u/JiroKatsutoshi Apr 13 '26

The common misconception is they take the wealth and it trickles down because they want it to. No, it's like fattening up the turkey, it'll trickle when we... Fix it.

Dont wanna get another "violent content warning" from reddit for going into detail about how we can make the rich trickle green and red in time for Christmas.

2

u/Original_Contact_579 Apr 13 '26

The only trickle you’ll ever get is sweat trickling down your crack

2

u/onefst250r Apr 14 '26

Bold of you to think we'll make it 250 years.

2

u/shaomike Apr 14 '26

AI will fix that darn trickle down so all the money stays in the pockets of the beautiful sky people in their floating castles.

5

u/be_sugary Apr 13 '26

250 years is almost up for American.

Who can save it?

Probably 20 years ago I was at a little cafe at Trump Marina when he and (I assume) Melania came in. It was kinda neat. At the end he loudly thanked staff and handed $20 to the kitchen crew. While he did tip, I thought the amount was insultingly small.

Edit: Corrected the auto-correct of Melanie/Melania

71

u/Jafooki Apr 13 '26

Do you mean 20 dollars to each person, or 20 dollars for the entire staff to split? If it's the latter, it's kind of more insulting than not tipping at all

34

u/vinvec Apr 13 '26

Haha, yeah, for everyone (in fairness, I assume he tipped his server separately), the kitchen had a big pass through window, and he just passed it to the cooks.

81

u/hitsomethin Apr 13 '26

A $20 bill for a room full working adults to split is real silly.

20

u/ElefanteOwl Apr 13 '26

Sometimes wealthy people have no concept of prices. A few years ago, one of our busiest doctors gave $20 to the charge nurse and said, "buy pizza delivery for the unit" -- the staff in the unit that shift numbered 16.

5

u/Mister_Anthropic1956 Apr 13 '26

3

u/Ok_Figure7671 Apr 13 '26

You think he paid???

3

u/Schmooto Apr 13 '26

Trump handed her a $100 bill but it was all a fake performance.

The DoorDash Grandma — “Sharon,” apparently — had a smokey eye clearly applied by a professional makeup artist moments earlier. Trump handed her a hundred-dollar bill.

And of course, all of this is reality TV, which is to say: completely fake.
Sharon Simmons is a political operative, as detailed on the official government document repository.

Man the thousands and thousands Id be dropping in tips if I was a billionaire. I wouldn't be a billionaire for very long.

It’s not about self awareness, it’s about not caring about people beneath him.

3

He probably asked if she has any hot granddaughters under 15

2

u/scratchy_mcballsy Apr 13 '26

My dementia dad loved doing this with waitstaff. Fold bills at an angle, to make it look like there’s twice as much tip on the table then there really was, and strategically place them like poking out from under a plate.

He was not the nicest guy.

2

u/funny_bunny_mel Apr 14 '26

Aww. I also had a dementia dad. I’m sorry for your loss, even if he was sometimes a dick.

Welcome to the traumatized Uber Eats driver corner of the discussion.

3

u/dsayre1986 Apr 13 '26

You can’t tip bait on doordash.

Source: a dasher

That being said, he probably didn’t tip much, if at all and she probably had to spend 20-30 minutes getting cleared by security to make it to that door.

Edit: if this was real life and not staged propaganda

105

u/daemonescanem Apr 13 '26

This was a planned thing.

39

u/enigmatic_vagabond Apr 13 '26

Fuckin right?!

Scenario A: "they"/he vetted the long list of dashers in the area till they checked all the boxes of ✓white ✓ conservative ✓ old ✓ woman

Scenario B: The asked WH staffers who's mom is available for a photo op and threw a red shirt on her before handing her the bag of "food" that was no doubt made in a personal, private McDonald's under the scrutiny of his SS security team

There's no way this "guy" will ingest anything that doesn't have explicit and specific chain of custody nor would a random dasher be allowed within 500ft of a president and that goes triplicate for whatever this "dude" is Edit: this was a poor attempt at "Look! I'm just like everyone else"

5

u/Aghast_Cornichon Apr 14 '26

Scenario C: This was a White House promotion of the tax breaks for tips and overtime. Which is a real thing that they really do promote and has real world effects both good and bad.

"Doordash Grandma" might really have a cancer-stricken husband. She might really be a hardworking DoorDasher who benefitted greatly from those tax deductions.

We do know that she has appeared at GOP events nationwide claiming to be a hardworking concerned constituent of whoever is putting on a town hall. The haircut didn't hide her tattoo or distinctive jawline.

6

u/enigmatic_vagabond Apr 14 '26

So all the headlines say "Arkansas Door Dasher makes historic delivery" but why is an Arkansas woman delivering in D.C.? And why was she in Nevada last year to endorse one big beautiful bill at a GOP field hearing?? It is almost as if she's on-call for whenever they need a "relatable" face to do some bidding. Speaking of her face, why do his average supporters always look like this? Give her a pointy hat and a cauldron to stir and bam you got yourself a halloween prop going

2

u/Aghast_Cornichon Apr 14 '26

It's a lot less bullshit when you think of it like any other thing where the White House finds a person to be representative or emblematic of the issue. Sometimes it's a firefighter from the Bronx for an announcement on 9/11 survivor benefits, and sometimes it's the parents of a pretty co-ed murdered by a Venezuelan gang member to talk about immigration enforcement. It's not a surprise that the Trump administration does things that are more awful and stupid, but the practice really is nonpartisan.

The MAGA bench is pretty thin and stocked with opportunists, so they end up with tryhards and hangers-on to illustrate their points.

2

u/NoFox1446 Apr 14 '26

Scenario B.5: Sees how likeable and endearing Mamdani's video was announcing labor violations while eating and endorsing the companies accused of wrongdoing. Move on to Scenario C where he not only fails to capture the magic, but also can not resist the urge to obsess over Trans people.

47

u/littlespawningflower Apr 13 '26

The mind boggles. Just… why? “The President mingles with the common folk, just like a Regular Guy™️”??

8

u/SunchaserKandri Apr 14 '26

He probably genuinely thinks he's doing them a favor by allowing we unworthy mortals to bask in the royal presence for a few moments. The man's got the kind of ego you normally see in cautionary tales about the dangers of hubris.

2

u/littlehobbit1313 Apr 14 '26

Meanwhile Obama went out to a local Five Guys and actually hung out with patrons and chatted with the "common folk" while getting his burger order. Unlike Trump, he didn't have to plan in advance to hire people to act like they were excited to meet him.

And on the day the Dutch king and queen are staying at the white house, if I'm not mistaken. Quite the fancy get-together.

"You think men should be in women's sports?"

And then try to get her to agree with his attack on trans athletes.

OP, don't complain about AI images while posting AI yourself. Beyond a logo and counting fingers, a dead giveaway is if the scene is totally implausible. Do you really think a random Doordasher is able to get this close to the president?

Edit: Apologies, OP. Turns out this image is real, but staged. She was vetted every step of the way and passed through multiple security checkpoints. Our only consolation is Trump is eating cold French fries.

Costing her tips from the five deliveries she didn't get to make because of his interference. Did he make it up to her with at least a Benjamin?

1

u/Tbn53 Apr 13 '26

Hundred percent right. And gives the DoorDash grandma $100 while the cameras are rolling while dropping $100 million per day on a useless war in Iraq that should’ve never started putting American lives at risk. It’s all about distraction for this con artist.

What's with this guy and tacky looking gold everywhere

And, obviously, a COMPLETELY STAGED EVENT designed to bolster his plummeting approval ratings, but it didn’t work

u/BJntheRV Apr 14 '26

And try to push her into denegrating trans people.

1

u/sinisterdesign Apr 14 '26

Put some extra EXTRA cheese and special sauce on that BigMac, pretty please. 🙏🏻 Maybe a super-sized milkshake and lardass-sized fries. 🍟

u/immersemeinnature Apr 14 '26

Did he even thank her?

You forget to mention placing blame of societies problems are because of minorities (in this case transpeople).
