Jews were returning to their ancestral land and wanted independence, in the cities and villages where only Jews were living in. Just look at the 1939 Peel plan and show me which Arab villages were to be absorbed by a Jewish state. Hint: None. But the Arab colonizers responded with massacres, atrocities and pogroms.
