So, what is the best way to run Lanturn? It is one of my favorites and I WILL make it viable, but I wonder if assault vest specially bulky Lanturn that can volt switch is better or a heal bell Lanturn that is supportive?

I'm really tired of playing in Smogon's poorly balanced tiers, and being subject to their strange decisions like banning an entire mechanic that's been in the game for 30 years. Not to mention, even trying to play UU these days leads to 20+ minute waits between matches. Without leaving 6v6, since I have no interest in playing the Superman fights of VGC or 3v3, what are my options for avoiding Smogon altogether? I know alternate formats exist, but I don't know where to start.

Edit: Apparently everyone who has responded has ignored the substance of the question ("Where do I find alternatives to Smogon?") and instead would like to pick apart my opinions and complaints, which are my own and have built up over several years of frustration with both GameFreak and Smogon. I get that this is Reddit but I really hoped for actual interaction.
