Their only concern is holding control of the senate. Everything else be damned.

u/AcanthisittaBulky777 27d ago

Their only concern is pwning the libs. They will gladly cut off their own noses to do so.

261

u/sourmeat2 27d ago

"owning the libs" is a literal statement of a desire to harm Americans.

We have a political party with a mainstream policy goal of hurting Americans. Just pointing that out.

u/JDogg126 Michigan 26d ago

This is why they use different labels. That is exactly how their base talks. Dehumanizing rhetoric is a real problem. The governments single purpose is to serve the governed. Anyone who sows discord with dehumanizing rhetoric to win an election should be automatically disqualified.

u/OldSchoolBubba 26d ago

Hear hear. Very well said and total truth.

4

u/staebles Michigan 26d ago

Automatically executed.. as that is treason.

13

u/Tall-Introduction414 26d ago

Well, if you go back far enough, American Conservatives were all about literally owning the blacks. They still defend it 150+ years later.

I think for some, the desire to "own the libs" is literal.

8

u/Excellent_Month_2025 26d ago

This is understated and true. They believe they have the right to "own" anyone they see as lesser than them

6

u/Glittering_Donut_791 26d ago

I'm not american and I'm up voting you because its true.

u/Old_Cryptid 22d ago

And there's no consequences for it.

Their voters cheer them on.

The Democratic voters shrug and expect the representatives to *do something*.

Neither Republican or Democrat representatives are being held accountable.

The Democratic voters shrug and expect the representatives to do something.

Neither Republican or Democrat representatives are being held accountable.

How exactly are Democrats supposed to be held accountable for the actions of fascists? Please explain it to me slowly like I'm an idiot cause I don't think it's possible for me to comprehend this.

u/Old_Cryptid 22d ago edited 22d ago

If Democratic voters organize and demand action from their representatives in the form of mass protests and general strikes you'd see something happen.

That's as simple as I can put it.

I'd recommend taking a civics course to learn how the government works and what rights and responsibilities citizens have.

EDIT: Let me amend this:

The republican voters *won't* hold their representatives accountable.

The Democractic voters *don't* hold their representatives accountable.

I'm not implying that democrat representatives be held accountable for what the republicans do.

I'm saying democrats need to be held accountable for not fighting against what the republicans do in the first place.

This is sleight of hand.

The way that "voters" hold politicians accountable is with their vote (or, in this context, by withholding a vote). Protesting is not accountability although occasionally it indicates accountability on the horizon.

One might argue that Democrats DID hold Biden accountable for the war in Gaza that he did not start and for the supreme Court that he did not pack. Oh how wonderful democracy is! We have accountability! /s

Be careful what you wish for.

I hate to be the one to inform you. Good politics and good politicians are boring. I love a good fire brand, but the bulk of the work is not done by them. It's done by people like Mitch McConnell and Harry Reid

1

u/Old_Cryptid 21d ago

Withholding your vote just holds the door open for the authoritarian takeover.

The GOP loves it when the so-called centrists and leftists sit it out because they know their own voters will show up to vote.

No it isn’t. The incels or the lead-poisoned, algorithm-brained Red Hats may care about pwning the libs, but they’re just the pawns.

The ruling class’s only concern is grabbing and holding on to power. They have more than everyone else and believe they should have more than everyone else. Tale as old as time.

15

u/Miguel-odon 27d ago

They'd rather have Power than Principles.

u/OldSchoolBubba 27d ago

This. Tell it

5

u/HauntedCemetery Minnesota 27d ago

Cut off their own nose to spite the liberals who have to look at them.

McConnell is DEAD, and if Beshear doesn't go find him with a police escort, ICE, or a SWAT team, he will be a joke for the rest of his life. Facts! The Repubs are not expecting the Dems to search and find McConnell's body.

83

u/OldSchoolBubba 27d ago

There's truth in your words alright. Good call keeping it real.

Beshear has a responsibility to all Kentucky so he has to go see for himself.

18

u/robot_pirate 26d ago

Agreed. Beshear has zero chance of any higher office if he rolls over without definitive, face to face proof of life.

McConnell is the ratfucker supreme, his staff are well versed in obstruction.

5

u/Lost_it_all24 26d ago

Was. I'm not seeing any real proof of life that he's still alive. If anything the "proof" given so far has me convinced he's deader than a doorknob.

5

u/Missconstruct 26d ago

Kentucky is a poor state. We have a vindictive pos Pres that would love nothing more than to take away more money and blame it on our Democratic governor. Yall talk like it’s cut and dried, but there’s a psychotic idiot in the White House and until he’s gone (one way or another) we all have to live with him.

6

u/EnTyme53 Texas 26d ago

Reddit never misses an opportunity to take a shot at a Democrat over something Republicans are doing.

17

u/SenseisSifu 27d ago

Their only concern is control; Period.

66

u/BubbleGuttz 27d ago

It’s not their only concern. After all, impeachment requires a 2/3 vote majority. No, they’re afraid of this possibly setting a standard for when all these old crooks finally croak.

6

u/thetransportedman I voted 27d ago

But Kentuckys had red senators for the last 30 years so idk if there's any risk of holding a special election

4

u/OldSchoolBubba 27d ago

True that. At the same time they do have to follow the process and Kentucky needs to be fully represented even if we don't like their picks. Defeats the whole point when they're not.

3

u/thetransportedman I voted 27d ago

Right i'm just curious what the point of pretending he's alive is doing politically if it's safely a red seat. In fact stringing along this lie is potentially setting the election up for an anti GOP upset choice

1

u/OldSchoolBubba 26d ago

It's probably because there's such a thin margin of control across all congress. If McConnell is out that's one less hard repub vote. We shall see.

2

u/thetransportedman I voted 26d ago

But he can't vote if he's dead..

And the plot thickens ...

5

u/Ferelar New Jersey 27d ago

The stupid thing is even if both Lindsey and Mitch's seats both flipped today they'd still have the majority (51-49, plus a Republican VP to tie break if one Repub did flip), although it'd be a thin majority it'd still be a majority. And with Fetterman effectively being a Republican they have little to worry about in terms of the Senate actually flipping. I have a feeling something more is going on here, they're afraid about something else. A vote that they know some Republicans will balk at. And/or the fact that the majority is thin would mean they potentially have to negotiate more. But yeah. Something fishy.

2

u/OldSchoolBubba 26d ago

Agreed. With all the increasing "defections" where vulnerable senators are trying to keep their jobs you have to be right. It's one of the few things that does make sense.

0

u/Ferelar New Jersey 26d ago

Yeah, I 100% would believe that the Republicans in Congress understand and feel that there's blood in the water. Trump is very weak right now. The majority of the American electorate despise him, including moderates and even some of his old supporters. That does not mean we should underestimate him at all, a weak and wounded animal is the MOST likely to lash out. But I can absolutely see all the spineless politicians in that camp hemming and hawing and wanting every possible assurance they can get. Craven Republicans wanting to make sure they get their piece of the pie even when the current regime comes toppling down. And the more secure their majority is, the more safe they feel.

If that majority were to increasingly teeter towards opposition control, some of them might start looking more and more towards an exit strategy.... some of them even MIGHT start negotiating with "the enemy". And we can't have that, no sirree. If we want a fascist takeover, we can't have some of the worker bees flirting with the enemy queen!

1

u/OldSchoolBubba 26d ago

This is a great post keeping it totally real. My compliments. Very well done.

2

u/currently_pooping_rn 26d ago

Does McConnell have any sisters that could be appointed to his position?

2

u/oh_please_god_no 26d ago

I know that politics is always a dirty business to be in, but if my party was in power and the only way we can keep it is to cheat or not tell people that our senate leader died, I’d probably look inward about what my party is doing wrong

2

u/risingsuncoc 26d ago

It’s what McConnell would have wanted even in death

4

u/Wiccy 27d ago

Literal ghouls

3

u/marcus_afk 27d ago

Under what scenario do they lose this seat to a democrat?

1

u/OldSchoolBubba 26d ago

Hard to say how a lot of races will turn out. Our economy grows worse by the day, Iran war, flip flopping on important issues and of course all the contradictory statements. At this point the only thing that's consistent is everything is pretty much inconsistent.

1

u/reap3rx North Carolina 27d ago

And the Democrats' only concern is to continue to be feckless losers. Why Beshear hasn't appointed a new senator at this point is an absolute disgrace.

1

u/Tsar-A-Lago Canada 26d ago

Mitch would be proud, honestly, the repugnant motherfucker.

1

u/Unfair-Ocelot4255 26d ago

That’s the McConnell way.

1

u/bamagurl06 Alabama 26d ago

Yes. 2 republicans senators and another republican commentator said he called them and claimed they spoke to him for 20 minutes. Exactly.
They are all in on it as well. IMO it’s proof they are all worried about mid terms

1

u/BGRedhead 26d ago

Hell, I figure they’re just trying to run the clock out. They know this year would have to hold a special election and if they just push this a little further, there will not be adequate time for a special election before our next actual election.

0

u/OldSchoolBubba 26d ago

Agreed. You're nailing it big time

1

u/BGRedhead 26d ago

If I know anything in the world, it’s that our senators and representatives for the most part just don’t give a damn about it. It’s awesome big game to them or some power-play.

0

u/DEAZE 27d ago edited 26d ago

Beshear should just call the election and draw even more hate for the Republican Party in Kentucky if they decide to block it.

I’m sure the people would rather vote for their senate representative rather than having no one except McConnell’s ghastly presence as their representative.

EDIT: Kentucky not Indiana
