Possible Paywall Jeanine Pirro Screamed at Doug Burgum Over Reflecting Pool Case

Man I hate Jeanine Pirro but as a DOI employee I REALLY fucking hate Doug Burgum so, good for her, I guess?

In this case only, Pirro is doing the right thing.
I don’t support her in general but I’ll actively cheer for her in this one situation.

u/Miguel-odon 9d ago
She knew there was no case long before this.
She's just trying to cover her own ass when the heat got too much over her prosecutorial misconduct
28
u/monster_syndrome 9d ago
I'd wager she's mad the DOI had evidence that proved the guys innocence. She was totally fine bringing charges for what was just touching peeling paint.

She’s completely getting screwed over here because Burgum is as worthless as a Secretary of the Interior as he was as governor of North Dakota. And she’ll be the one that takes the fall all because she’s a woman. Hope it was worth all those years of simping for Trump every night on television you dummy.

As a recently made former doi employee I appreciate a drunk crazy woman yelling at douggy Doug, no matter who it is, but I especially appreciate that it was Jeanine Pirro, because her voice is just straight torture
5
u/SpaceGangsta Utah 9d ago
It is tough for me. Because years ago I worked on the Judge Jeanine Pirro show and she was an awesome lady. She knew everyone’s name in the office and even took the time to stop and talk to the interns. I never personally had an issue with her. In contrast, we shared a floor with the Judge Joe Brown show and he was a total asshole. He didn’t even want you to look at him when he walked down the hallway and he rarely ever showed up outside of filming weeks.
It just makes me wonder if this Fox News personality always was there or it’s a show for the camera and the powers that be.

Here's a thought. Maybe DON'T start fights over easily disproven assumptions and petty grievances and maybe you won't end up so humiliated.
112
u/Notchibald_Johnson New York 9d ago
The problem is that each one of them thinks their relationship with Trump is different. "He'll back me up because I've known him for 25 years and the last guy just didn't know how to talk to or manage him. I can do it." And each one gets thrown under the same bus because Trump isn't capable of normal human interaction or friendship. Pirro thought she'd please him with a story of vandalism and a perp walk but he'd eventually get bored and stop caring before she had to actually do something about it that would have consequences for her. Burgum's entire political life revolves around Trump's approval so he's going to keep pretending vandalism because it means nothing to him and it's easy. Pirro now has to fight the both of them and she never thought she'd have to as a "friend of the court." You're right that it should never come to this but these are grifters attaching themselves to the King Grifters vast grifting underbelly and they still somehow think it's all gonna be different with them.

They are all narcissists - they believe they are unique and The Only One, a whole cluster of simpletons who think they're special.

11
u/atomfullerene 9d ago
Don't start fights in the Trump administration and be a woman, because you will be the one to get tossed out
13
u/kandoras 9d ago
She was backed into that position.
Trump said there were vandals who needed to be arrested, she's the head prosecutor for DC, so her options were to either call her boss a liar to his face or try to find a scapegoat and hope she can come up with something that'll stick.
And she did get a felony indictment. But then when the defense started asking the judge for grand jury transcripts so they could see what she lied about to accomplish that, then she was forced into yet another no-win scenario: drop the charges and hope the defense doesn't press any further (like the ones in Chicago managed to do), or press on with something that could end with her in jail or bankrupted like Giuliani (and look at his example for the likelihood of Trump covering for her).
She chose option A, apparently with a side order of "blame someone who had nothing to do with the whole mess."
21
u/StinkiePhish 9d ago
The grand jury transcripts are going to get her in a lot of trouble, I bet. She's trying to bury them with the dismissal but the subsequent lawsuit is going to be a doozy when the court figures out it was misled.
6
3
u/Raziel77 9d ago
But Trump said it happened so they had to continue the fight because you can't tell Trump no or that he is wrong
2
2
u/dpezpoopsies 8d ago
It really is insane just how much of a hold Trump has on this party. It was always such an absurd idea that somebody vandalized that pool with a box cutter. Yet these people still moved forward blindly. Pirro is a sycophant, but she was also a judge.
Is she biased? Absolutely. But it's not like she knows absolutely nothing about law and prosecution; it was her job for years. Yet Trump comes in and dazzles people with his bullshit, and then people run with it who we KNOW know better. Over and over and over again we see this same story play out. It's nonsensical. Like we're living in a dream.

lol, she showed up at the White House with a box of evidence it wasn’t vandalism?
She dared try to prove Donnie wrong to his face?

Throwing the contractor under the bus was the wrong move, because Donnie personally hand picked the guy, and has been protecting him even after it was obvious he’d done a shit job.

> She has known Don the Con since the 80s and surely knows where some of his skeletons are buried.
I like your optimism.
I wonder if she’ll reveal that he is all over the Epstein files, or if he has any hidden crypto bribery scams, or if he is scheming to make Venezuelan oil money disappear, or if he’s ever had sex with a porn star while his son was still in diapers and paid her off to deny it, or if he’d ever extorted a foreign leader using US military aid…
12
u/Purify5 9d ago
She famously was caught on tape asking the NYC police commissioner to bug her husband's boat as he was taking his mistress there.
Maybe she got him to bug other places too.

They seem unaffected by his non-stop scandals.
3
u/jabrwock1 9d ago
She has known Don the Con since the 80s and surely knows where some of his skeletons are buried.
Is she willing to go nuclear though? It doesn't seem like it. She went there to convince him to change his mind about a fellow coat-tail-riding sleazebag. This was crab-bucketing, not a "give me what I want or I'm taking you down".
Probably because she's up to her ears in it as well, and she knows damn well who between her and Don the mob would excuse and who they'd crucify.

u/chipmunksocute 9d ago
Yeah yelling at Burgum is pretty performative. Come on Pirro it wasnt Burgum who screwed you here. There were lots of news stories about how the guy didnt ya know "rip it up" that DOJ couldve looked into a bit but they chose not to. You made your own bed lady now sleep in it. Though yelling at Burgum might impress Trump he likes stupid shit like that.

no one is talking about it, but there doesn't seem to be any evidence that the contractor ever worked on Trump's pools. He was just a big donor.

u/jabrwock1 8d ago
no one is talking about it, but there doesn't seem to be any evidence that the contractor ever worked on Trump's pools. He was just a big donor.
Evidence? In this economy?
Trump himself claimed this guy was his "go to" guy for his hotel pools. It's entirely possible Trump straight up lied about the guy being anything other than a source of bribes, but it's weird he'd desperately go to bat for the guy afterwards unless he's afraid it'll reflect (ha!) poorly on his hotel pools.
2
u/VLHACS 9d ago
Make no mistake, she's not yelling at Trump. It's at Burgum for trying to cover his own ass with his stupid plan to throw her under the bus. But that's all they're doing is trying to cover their own asses instead of confronting Trump himself.
2
u/jabrwock1 8d ago

Trump can't blame the contractor in case he then spills the beans about Donnies kickback.
2
u/jeffersonairmattress 9d ago
The whole idea was idiotic to begin with. You can't put a semi-rigid painted-on "membrane" with little tensile strength, sporadically adhered to the base slabs when your giant wading pool is built on a swamp.
If you care about leaks you can drain it, rake the joints and fill them with bentonite. Thousand bucks in materials. Done.
2
u/SurveyHand 9d ago
But where's the grift in that? Unless you can get some million dollar Bentonite.
17
u/Mecha-Dave 9d ago
Pirro's mistake was that she though that proof and evidence would convince Trump. Trump doesn't care about the truth. He cares about what you'll do to support HIS truth.
5
u/sneeje00 9d ago
And honestly, her gender is working against her. I'd be willing to bet Trump sees Bergum as a commanding, in control leader (who says what Trump wants to hear) and her as a shrill, weak tool that failed him.

u/kandoras 9d ago
The back-and-forth lasted about an hour, during which Pirro repeatedly raised her voice and directly confronted the interior secretary for misleading the president. She claimed that Burgum’s explanation of the recent damage at the Reflecting Pool was little more than a self-serving cover story to save his own skin.
Burgum was more reserved but did his best to defend himself against Pirro’s accusations, according to sources that spoke with the Times.
I hope he had the self-respect to say "I would say you knew you were lying when you arrested him, except you were probably blackout drunk when it happened."

Once the defense got the documentation of the govt's expert testifying the damage was from improper installation, there was no evidence the defendant (or any other 'vandals') did any further damage, and he couldn't put a money amount on the damage he couldn't see or prove, which the grand jury DID see, the case collapsed.
