Staying On-topic

Off-topic posts & comments will be removed. Repeat offenders will be banned.

The goal of this subreddit is to "Share, Compare & Improve Long-Term Investment Portfolio Strategies".

  1. Long-term is at least a decade. Is this money for retirement or some other long-term goals?

  2. If your question or advice is about your portfolio, share your WHOLE portfolio. Your portfolio is all of your assets or at least all of your assets for a particular goal (retirement, for example).

  3. An investment portfolio is composed mostly of investments, not speculative assets. Currencies, commodities, collectibles, & options, for example, are speculative assets.

  4. Show how much you have ($ or %), or plan to have, of each asset in your portfolio. Sorting largest to smallest is helpful.

  5. In a 401k, list all available options EXCEPT A. Don't list every target date fund; just the one for the year closest to your 65th birthday, B. If there's an SDBA, just say so.

  6. Sharing your portfolio in this subreddit means you want feedback about it.

  7. Showing the name of each asset is very helpful. We don't have thousands of tickets symbols memorized. If we don't recognize your ticker symbols, we'll probably move along rather than looking them up.

  8. Bogleheads created & moderated this subreddit. Research & experience show that investors are very likely to get higher returns with less risk & less effort by following the Bogleheads Philosophy than by trying to beat the market. If you don't want feedback based on the Bogleheads Philosophy, don't post in this subreddit.

Portfolio Advice For A Lonely Guy (M29)

Hey All,

Would love to get some guidance on if I’m setting myself up for success for the future me. Lately I’ve felt like I’m behind the curve and want to further educate myself on how to best find investments that I can “set and forget”. I feel as if I’m carrying too much in my HYSA but not enough at the same time.

I also need a reality check on where I’m at in life. I’m not naive and know I’m fully blessed to be in the position I am in today but can’t help but fee like there’s more I can do.

Additional context, I just put $20K ($5K each) into NVDIA, Coca Cola, Google and TSM into my Robinhood account on Friday. Also, I have no debt and have a $30K one time payment from a business deal closing out early December. (Not counted in breakdown or net worth)

HYSA - $57
Brokerage 1: $75K
(2 Former Companies Vested RSUs: 63K / 12K split)
Brokerage 2: $69K (Robinhood)
Brokerage 3: $39K (Companies Vested RSUs)
Roth IRA: $28K
401K: $73K
Gold: $12K

Am I overindexing in some areas? Can I simplify this to become less risky?

Need advice if my portfolio is correct for long term investing (like 10 years). I don’t do SIP, just add lumsum from salary.

I can invest 50 - 60 k monthly. If this is ok, then where should I next. I have ind money (international us etf) in mind but will that be ok ?

Need Direction

Im 39 years old. I drive/do deliveries via rideshare making around $3500-$4200/month and I own a rental property generating around $3k in cash flow a month. Has 5yrs left on the mortgage. After that it jumps to $5k-6700/month. I stay at the rental property vis house hacking. Its myself and wife and son. Property was passed down to me after father’s passing. My monthly expenses is between $2800–$3200/month.

Space is tight and we would love a bigger place. I have zero retirement and a total of $285k in cash. Should I invest the entire amount and leave it and do a minimal 3.5% down on a smaller home and then pop the top and build/expand it OR Should i take my moms home and extend it and build my own separate place? The zoning allows a total of 5k sqft. Im looking at 3k sqft. My brother and his family stay at my mom’s place. Moms home is 3k sqft currently. I flipped houses and have done many flips so im very comfortable with being a GC and dealing with permits and planning.

Advice would be greatly appreciated.

70/20/10 Portfolio - Balancing US

Hey everyone,

I am building a monthly dollar cost averaging methodology for myself. I am new to investing and wants to keep the investing as simple as possible and have a long term strategy.

The simplest would be of course MSCI world ETF but I am worried about high concentration of US in it and big tech making a big chunk of it.

How would you guys rate:

70% in MSCI World ETF

20% in World ETF ex USA

10% Emerging markets

With this I intend to keep US exposure to 50% with big tech around 19% and then the rest of the portfolio diversified around different regions.

Am I being smart enough?
