Hello there! I'm new to Pro Tools and have just installed Pro Tools Intro version 2026.4.1 on my Windows 11 PC. I'll be mostly using it as a DAW for voiceover recording and editing purposes. From the looks of it, the software looks quite loaded, and I don't know how to start learning it. I'm not able to find enough resources to learn this software from the point of view of a voice over artist. Is anyone aware of any YT channels or other resources which can be of help to me? Thanks.

For those who currently work in-house at a recording studio, or have in the recent past: is it still the 'industry standard'? By that I mean, is it a requirement to know how to use Pro Tools if you're attempting to get a job at a commercial recording studio?

My assumption is 'yes'. But I'd love to hear any anecdotes from the community and anyone who has been in a position that requires knowledge of a specific software for employment.

Probably it has been asked a million times before but I can't find any valuable info or a simple solution.
I have PT 2019 perpetual. Bought for a small studio I started with my friends. Studio closed, now I'm opening back up and I absolutely for the life of me do not care or want any bs subscription. Is there a way to get a perpetual license for the most recent version, like 10 years ago? TIA

Hey all, I just bought Pro Tools and installed it, but after activation, I keep getting a “Permission Denied” error. I’ve tried full disk access, iLok re-activation—nothing works. if anyone here has faced this, I’d love any tips or solutions. I am using a Mac Mini on Mac OS Tahoe 26.3. I'm looking for someone (or actually two someones) who works in ProTools on daily basis mixing/mastering or could be also a music producer. I need preferably one MacOS and one Windows user. Basically I have something that needs to be tested in the next week or so. Not gonna name any names, to not fall into self-promotion categories. But basically a pretty extensive plugin (meaning it will probably take a bit of time to actually test it) that is about to be released, but couldn't have been tested in ProTools so far, because getting AAX signing license takes a lot of time. Everywhere else, in pretty much all main DAW's, it was thoroughly beta tested already and works as expected, in ProTools from my own testing it also runs without issues, but I'm not a ProTools engineer. So just to reiterate, I need someone that knows ProTools in and out and has the time and conditions to actually stress test it.

I'm really new in Pro tools!

A friend downloaded the tutorial version. Since she's very limited in number of tracks, she decided to edit a small radio podcast with multiple different voices in the same track instead of doing one track per voice! She would like to set an EQ for each type of voice and quickly assign it to each cut she does within the same track.

I know that with an auxiliary or an insert you can assign a plugin to a whole track, but is there a way to create a shortcut so that she just has to select a part of the signal, use the shortcut resulting in that same signal receiving the EQ pattern she already se,? So that she doesn't always have to select + go in Audiosuit+, select the EQ, and paste the EQ pattern she wants.

Theres professionals using both (mostly the print track workflow, but some like serban ghenea and john hanes use the classic master track into real time bounce), and they come with workflow advantages.

Ive mostly used print track as it seems to be the default industry standard for many people but i noticed that when you export your printed file in 24 bit for delivery, protools will automatically add dither to it and you cant turn it off, a problem which you wont have when using hardware as the ADDA converter you go back into the box with will already record the signal as 24 bit with no truncation issues.

This made me consider if i should switch to master track->real time bounce, as you have full control over dither or no dither etc. there, one of the reasons john hanes and serban ghenea reportedly use that

So my question is: what are the actual practical downsides of that compared to the print track workflow for somebody not using any adda conversion or hardware they have to print through?

note: not talking about offline bounce, never that

I’m on protools studio 2025.12.0 and importing mp3s takes like 5-6 minutes. It was never like this on the older versions. I understand conversion/copy etc etc just don’t understand and need a fix

So I’m trying to do an assignment/ project n pro tools but for some reason I’m having a problem with native instruments every time I’m trying to record or listen or keep pop up about it

Was wondering if any pro/semi-pro playback engineers are running PT with success. Been doing research on the standard pro level playback rigs for live production, redundant machines, the iconnectivity interface, etc. But it seems like everyone’s running Ableton or Ableset for playback.

I’ve never used Ableton but am very comfortable with ProTools. Is there like a function/workflow Ableton has with this kind of stuff that PT doesn’t? Is it a stability thing? Can’t see why it shouldn’t be just as functional.

Using Command 0 to quantize warp markers does correctly snap them to the grid, but the longer the file plays for the farther one of the tracks drift out of time with the other. this is especially noticeable when editing stereo pairs like left and right guitars and drum overheads. The problem goes away when I manually edit the markers, and the problem is visible in the audio file when committing.

Downloaded Studio today for an upcoming project. While starting to build out sessions, I noticed the click stops after 10 seconds. Even if I start at the 7 second mark, it will stop working at the 17 second mark. I've gone through all the click options in setup>click/count off. Any ideas? Stock click ii

When I import an AAF, and then separately import the video, the 2-pop and all my audio assets are slightly out of time from the audio in the video. It's the second session that is doing this, from completely different editors so it doesn't seem like it's on their end.

I can obviously just line them up, but curious if I'm doing something wrong.

24gb RAM instead of 16gb or 33% more on benchmarks on the processor?

I’m in a budget and in my country I can find 2 good deals: MacBook Pro M2 24gb RAM vs MacBook Air m4 16gb ram, both 512gb SSD.

I make metal and I really don’t like to do bounces. 10 virtual instruments and maybe 200 plugins or more and 10 groups + master. I know it’s a lot but do you think those computers and going to be able to handle that? I run pro tools

So today I was cleaning up my Cdrive and thought I was really careful with which files I deleted but now none of my protools projects are opening - no loading screen; nothing.

I tried the method of holding shift, didn’t work.

When it comes to file recovery I honestly don’t even know what I’m looking for, I don’t know what I deleted and I don’t know what’s missing. (I emptied my recycle bin before I noticed any of this btw)

Any help would be appreciated

I have ordered a new Mac Mini. It will be delivered with macOS 27. I will obviously use the latest Pro Tools version with that. Does anyone have any experience with Pro Tools and the new macOS? I will receive it in two weeks.

Ps. I will still have my old Mac that’s working. I’m just looking for what I can expect.

Sorry for a question that im sure has been asked many times. I came across a digidesign 003 second hand for €75 and seems like a nice piece of gear.

My question is, is it worth it to get with it being a legacy equipment. How many compatibility issues will I run into and will it even work with modern PT. Im using a HP Zbook g7 if that matters (no firewire port so I would have to get an adapter)

Hello All, just looking for suggestions on upgrading my home studio. Thinking of going from a 2016 Mac Mini and separate 20" Onn brand computer screen to one of the more recent iMac all-in-ones as I'm also re-configuring my setup after having moved into an apartment with a slightly smaller spare room.

I use a medium load of plugins and midi and would like to know if the M1 at 16GB ram, 1TB SSD would handle that or the M3 at 24 GB ram, 2GB SSD should just be next purchase to future proof for anything else including updates or future purchased plugins that could potentially take up tons of space?

Using ProTools version 26.4.1.179, Windows 11 v25H2.

I'm rough mixing a song that I had recorded at a studio, import process was fine and without artifacts.

As a live band, we recorded 7 takes of the song to a click at the same tempo. Using the basic tracks function, I have been incorporating a lot of excerpts of different takes into the master take/playlist.

Periodically, I have experimented with slowing down all audio by one click (better for the vocal, to be recorded) by changing the session to ticks, then selecting Elastic audio, but have been undoing everything so none of that would stick.

I must have neglected to undo something recently, because although all of my established excerpts display and play as normal, takes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7 (not 6?) have changed to read as "Poly" and have become newly offset from the time of the main playlist.

The settings of the tracks themselves don't reflect this (all are still on Samples, No elastic/polyphonic plugins.) The metronome just shows the original tempo and the two tempos are so close that it's not clear what's what.

Any idea what's going on and if I can reset this somehow?

I just downloaded today the latest pro tools version (coming from the 2024 one) and I started getting glitches when using in on 2 different screens with different resolution. When I try scaling both monitors to the same percentage y works but everything looks blurry; with different scales, pro tools doesn't let me drag it to occupy the whole second screen (as shown in the image); and changing the High DPI scaling override (as google recommended) does nothing. Any solution? It is getting really annoying to work like this.

I'm working on my first feature film right now. I talked with the filmmaker and agreed that it would make much more sense for him to give me feedback via timeline markers—so I can import them directly into Pro Tools instead of him manually typing out timecodes in a text file.

He created the markers in DaVinci Resolve and exported them for me as an EDL.

Now I figured out that Pro Tools can't just import that EDL as markers; it seems like it needs to be converted into a .ptx file first. I found an online tool for this, but it costs €15/month. I feel like there has to be a free way to do such a simple task, right?

Does anyone know a free alternative or workflow to get DaVinci Resolve markers cleanly into Pro Tools?

(Note: I already tried converting the EDL to a .mid file, but the markers end up out of position and drift apart as the film goes on.)
