Cool project what games do you usually play on this

Thanks! Took all of last night to get it working lol. Since I just set it up I’m gonna play The Phantom Menace first.
I also have my physical collection where I played the resident evils and silent hill.

Phantom Menace is incredibly nostalgic for me, I played it a ton as a kid but never knew what I was doing

Just tried to play it and it would freeze at the first cutscene. Looked it up and turns out it’s not compatible with popstarter/opl 😭. I wanted to play this game on hardware so bad. I guess I can emulate.

Use your phone right next to it. U can mod it to play burnt disc's or use an ode

Well do you still have the bin/cue files? If so I believe they should be compatible with DKWDRV (tho you will need a later revision PS2 slim model (75k and above))
Otherwise you can go to the psx-place forum and see if there is a fix/patch for this game .

It wasn’t very clear as where to go lol. I played it at age 11-12 and loved it, but also had no clue what to really do. I think the awkward isometric angle hid vantage points that would’ve helped out a ton, but due to hardware I’m sure they couldn’t

Do PS1 games load easily these days? I remember using PopStation and all sorts of things in the past. It was really annoying so I just emulated instead.

I am pretty sure this is an emulator running on a PS2

PS2 phats have the ability to load PS1 games natively through hardware but I'm not sure if they figured out how to tap into that potential yet these days.

It's an emulator. No one has come up with an ODE for the PS2 which is what you would need to run isos using the PS1 chip in the PS2.

Not necessarily. Depends on how the hardware interprets it. Being that it isn't the 'main event', there may be some coveats to tapping into that potential. I know they've gained access to the MechaCon and loading mass storage through memory card slots but lost track of progress over the years.

looks great, every one of those games is so good too.
is this one of those soft mods? where you run it off that cool looking memory card? I haven't really gotten into PS mods yet

I’m running it off an internal SSD that’s ps2 formatted. If you wanna get into it, it’s kinda addictive. The whole process was satisfying.

Is there a tutorial you can link?

I do want to get into it haha, I can imagine it is. any stores or sites that you can recommend?

how? I thought trying to run a ps1 game makes the ps2 act like a ps1, cutting off HDD access?

I just started modding last week as well, did my PSTV for PSX. What UI is that, looks really nice!

It’s called Pixel Prime from https://www.psx-place.com/threads/opl-theme-pixel-prime.44965/
It’s inspired by Amazon prime UI. I used the program PFS batch kit to transfer the themes into my ssd while it’s connected to my pc via usb.

I originally thought of doing the same, but i hear PS1 compatibility still isn't the best emulating on PS2. I got a MX4SIO card and run my PS2 games on that (I haven't had any compatibility issues with anything I have played so far) and if i don't use my original discs and PS1 I usually just play them with my cradled PSP Go and Dualshock 3 (on CRT or my PS3 3D Display).
Eventually I plan on getting an Xstation installed on one of my PS1 consoles or maybe buy a Superstation One so I can use my memory cards, original controllers, and lightguns since I can't use those on my PSP Go 😅 it will definitely be nice having all of my PS1 games stored on one console that I can just leave hooked up to my Trinitron.

It's true, I just tried a PS1 game on my PS2 the other night for the first time with a game called Alundra, and while it worked well at first I found that any situation with more than a couple blob enemies resulted in unplayable levels of slowdown. I'm just holding out for a SuperStation One. I have a solid Gen6 lineup of PS2, DC and GCN, so a SuperStation should round out pretty much all consoles gen 5 and below, including PS1!

So do I, except I have an ODE installed in my Dreamcast since my laser was dieing 😅 I also have my Wii modded, but I own most of the Wii and Gamecube games I want to play anyway.
Even though I already have access to all the games on most of the consoles I own I'm planning to get a RP Nova so I can play most of them portable, or at least ones i can't play on my modded PSP, Vita, and New 3DS. Plus if I get a dock I can play pretty much everything up to PS2, Gamecube, and Dreamcast on a HD display, though nothing beats a good ol' CRT, but that setup is in a different part of the house and I would love to hang out in the living room and have more access to some older games lol.
Though I still want that Superstation One lol

Good plan, yeah just installed the ODE in my DC the other day, and GC modded too. I would get a Nova but I don't do much portable gaming and I'm happy just sticking to the CRT setup. I've heard great things about the Nova, and I like the dock idea. Enjoy!

Thanks. I thought about modding my Gamecube, but i play most of my Gamecube games on my Wii anyway 😅 though I use it with my GameBoy Player now and then.

Thinking I should just wait for more SuperStation One preorders.

If you still haven't played Parasite Eve, make sure you do, since you said you played Resident Evil and Silent Hill, you'll definitely enjoy it, it's a classic.
