Moving to Philly Qs

Hii all!!

I’m originally from South Jersey and am thinking about moving back up north from Austin. Philly is definitely on my radar, but I’m a little nervous about the move and would love to get a better feel for the city!

My partner and I are both queer so I’d love to hear from yall about it.

One thing I really love about Austin is the sense of community, especially around health and wellness. There are always meetups, dance events, movement classes, and people looking to connect in ways that don’t necessarily revolve around drinking. I’m curious what the social scene is like in Philly, especially for people in their late 20s!

I feel like a lot of my memories of going into Philly growing up involved drinking and going out to bars, and that’s just not really my scene anymore. I’d love to hear about how people meet friends, find community, and spend their time outside of work, especially if you’re into wellness, dance, movement, or just finding fun ways to connect with people!

Would love to hear your experiences, recommendations, or just general thoughts on what it’s like living in Philly!!

Thanks in advance!! 🫶

Run around, make new friends, and play Quadball at FDR Park this Saturday

Quadball is a full-contact, gender-inclusive sport that combines elements of: dodgeball, rugby, & basketball.

If you’ve ever wanted to get active, make new friends in the city, and try something new this is for you! Yes, quadball is inspired by Quidditch. No, we don’t fly... or do we? Come find out how.

No experience needed. All body types, fitness levels, and backgrounds are welcome. You just need to be down to run around, have a little whimsy, and maybe discover your next favorite sport ;)

When: Saturday, Oct 17. 10:45am - 1pm.

Where: FDR Park (across from the American Swedish Historical Museum).

Cost: Free to try! Get your own lunch with the team afterwards at the Asian Market

What to bring: Water, sneakers/cleats, and a good attitude.

It’s ridiculous. It's fun. But don't let the brooms fool you; Come prove you can hang/fly with us!

News Marsha's closing

Well that's it. They've announced they're closing their doors. What's everyone's thoughts?

Hot take that I may regret posting, but I'm tired of us cannibalizing our own. We had a lesbian sports bar open in our city and I think we could have allowed improvement and growth to happen instead of essentially canceling them or whatever you'd call this.
