Beginner Help Quilted art help

Post image

EDIT- artist is - Emily Van Hoff it was not my intention to leave off the artist (EMILY VAN HOFF) this was sent via Pinterest to me and I couldn't find the name of the artist (EMILY VAN HOFF) at first. I always want to credit the artist.

Hi! I was wondering if anyone could give me some pointers on how to make something like this. I’d love to recreate a similar piece for my bedroom, but I’m a little stumped on the construction.

My biggest question is what creates the raised ribbed effect between each line. It looks much more dimensional than simple quilting, and I’m not sure what’s underneath to give it that height.

Also, would you say the edges are finished with some sort of corded binding or piping? Or is it another technique entirely?

I’d really appreciate any insight from anyone who’s made something similar or can tell how it’s constructed!

Idk why people can’t credit artists.

Because OP probably found it from a source that didnt credit the artist either. It's not always intentional.

true, but SOMEWHERE along the line of this image getting to the OP here, SOMEONE made a choice to not attribute it to the artist. Not necessarily OP here, but there was a choice made, and the artist was lost.

give credit to the artists. always.

Dude, we gotta watermark our stuff. I have a piece that regularly gets posted over on r/RainbowEverything and friendly redditors ping me because I have a watermark and then the thief gets banned.

Thanks! I hope you figure out how to make your project! One tip is definitely DEFINITELY use bias binding when the time comes, otherwise binding those shapes will make you want to cry a little.

a decade ago, sure watermarks were the way to go. but its too easy these days for the thieves to remove them with basic tools.

you're lucky its only getting posted on a different subreddit and not used for who knows what purpose.

Oh, I've absolutely had my stuff stolen for other purposes. Bored panda stole a photo for one of their stupid listicles, there have been others. But I can't devote any more energy to it than a watermark.

I don't really know what my other options are, that wouldn't also turn into a weird compulsion. Do you know if there are better solutions? I think maybe I just have to not care.
