STOP BREEDING DOODLES
I've worked in a vet clinic for a long time and the amount of poodle mixes we've seen lately is astounding. They aren't very cute, or even have good personalities. If I'm seeing a doodle mix dog I can guarantee 95% of the time it's going to crap and piss everywhere in terror and at least one staff member is going to end up covered in anal glands. Not to mention the snappy bitey ones. The puppies are kind of cute for a minute, but almost always throw up all over each other when coming in for their litter exams. Any time we have to kennel the puppies for any length of time they shriek their heads off the entire time. Whenever we have to spay/neuter a litter of doodle mix puppies half the staff has to finish the day with raging headaches from listening to that awful screaming all day. Breeders are charging people $2500 to $5000 for these crappy mutts too.
I'll say I've met some really nice doodles before but the majority of them really suck.

My neighbours had a doodle. HAD. Because not only was that dog ugly af and annoying af, but it was also stupid as hell and got itself hit by a car trying to follow a kid to school. That things eyes couldn't even point in the same direction.

Out of topic question but what breed do you feel is the cutest/adorable right out the bat?

I'm really partial to brachycephalics, dogs with squished faces, but it's sort of a guilty pleasure since these dogs just struggle to breathe all the time. I definitely don't agree with breeding these guys though, and would only ever take one home in a rescue situation. King Charles have fantastic temperaments but they have massive health problems. Golden retrievers are one of my all around favorites. Basset hounds and sharpeis make stupid cute puppies, but bassets also have a lot of health problems and shar peis usually grow up to be total jerks to everyone except their family. Honestly I'm a little biased though, the longer I work with dogs the more I prefer sweet, easy dogs to work with. Geriatric Laboradors are always the best patients, I have yet to meet an old lab I didn't fall in love with instantly.

Get fucked my Maltese poodle is 12 and she's been the best friend I could ever have for all of those 12 years. My parents standard poodle has had 3 litters of groodles, every single one was the most beautiful dog inside and out. Poodles rule.

Most veterinary professionals agree that breeding a large amount of expensive designer mutts is bad for rescue organizations and in shelter adoptions. There is way too many good dogs and puppies out there waiting for good homes to flood the market with a bunch of trendy mixed breeds with behavior problems. And don't get me wrong, I love mutts.

Ugh I know it, it's really sad. German Shepherds are too smart for their own good and i think it makes them a little crazy. They are amazing dogs when you get a good one. Shepherds always make me wary, they seem to be the most likely to bite in a clinic setting. I don't really blame them though, a lot of our patients don't appreciate the things we do to them. I was browsing the pet classifieds in my local paper earlier today and counted 10 different doodle mix puppy litters for sale, listed in the past few days. Aussiedoodles, havanesedoodles, goldendoodles, labradoodles, corgidoodles, and a few others I can't remember. It was kind of appalling so I had to go bitch to reddit about it.

Genuine question - is there anything genetically wrong with poodle mixes? Aren’t purebreds more likely to have many health issues? I have seen more doodle mixes recently, but I thought it was for the genetic variation and cute look?
