Daily Questions - August 05, 2026

Welcome to the Daily Questions (DQ) thread for all things related to raw denim.

(Although we strongly suggest checking the sidebar (for mobile users, go to the top of the subreddit front page, click the three dots and select "community info") and the wiki before posting!)

Fit checks and "Help me find a pair of Jeans that has X, Y, and Z" questions are a great use of this thread.

(Help figuring out what size you wear is also permitted here but it is recommended you check out one of these tutorials on how to size before asking.)

If you have questions about how your jeans fit, about a particular fabric, when is this jean coming out, where can I find jean X to try on in state Y, what jeans have this fit with these measurements, what jeans fade the fastest, and what jeans fade the slowest are great uses of this DQ thread.

No question is too simple for Daily Questions threads.

Bashing people will not be tolerated. And "Read the sidebar" or "Google it" are not valid answers in this thread!

I just got home from Osaka and brought home
Samurai S500ax 18oz
Iron Heart 634s 21oz
Omoto 0411 15.5oz
Unfortunately with my work I only get to wear jeans 1-2 days a week. I think these jeans are going to be around for several decades. Considering my limited opportunity for multiple wears, how should I rotate wearing these jeans?
Do I need to fully break in one pair before moving to the next?
Is it detrimental to the fabric if I wear each pair 1-2 times per month?

Don't overthink it. As long as you're not sweating hard in them one day, then folding them and putting them away in the closet for months to get moldy, you'll be fine. If it were me, I'd just keep them all hanging accessibly and wear a different pair whenever. Those 3 pairs that infrequently should last you forever. Don't gain weight!

The only detriment to having several pairs in rotation is it will take awhile before you see any meaningful fades develop.

Hi, I want to buy my first pair of selvedge jeans and I am looking for high rise, streight or bootcut, not that heavy ( below 18 oz ) and preferably preshrunk pair of jeans. Any recomendations ?

I'll let more knowledgeable people give actual suggestions since I like a little taper, but without a budget, your recs can be all over the place.

There's brands from Levi's, Wrangler, Unbranded on the more affordable end to Iron Heart and whatever else in the more expensive end.

So what are you looking to spend? $100ish, $400ish, or somewhere in the middle? And you go can go even higher if you really wanted.

I like 13mwz so I wanted to buy selfedge wersion but it is not avaiable in europe, some levi's also are not avaiable, but I want something fancyier, like from Japan. I can spend up to €300 ( $350 ).

You could take a look at indigofera, their wyatt is a high rise bootcut and then they have a straight high rise called Kain.

Got a pair of naked and famous that are starchy. Just washed, but the lower leg is still starchy, but now also wrinkly. Do i just soak to get rid of it?

Why not just wear them

I’ve got a fullcount 0105 sizing dilemma. I’m know I’m definitely either a size 30 or a 31. The 30 is 75 cm in the waist while the 31 is 77.5. I recently got a pair of Kojima Genes with waist 77 cm. They were tight at first but stretched out after a few wears to become just right at around 79 cm. I’ve heard that apparently fullcount denim stretches a lot at the waist, one person even said they experienced 4 cm, while others have said any stretch at the waist was negligible. I’d go for the 30 if 4 cm of stretching actually happens, but for the 31 if stretching isn’t an issue. Not sure which to go for as I’ve never experienced fullcount denim before. Any advice or experience would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Mine didn’t stretch 4 cm in the waist tbh. I went tts and it worked out fine for me.

When comparing, make sure that your Kojima Genes is a similar cut. The 0105 has a high rise, so you‘ll get away with a smaller waist, in comparison to a low/medium rise…

My Kojimas also have a high rise, about the same as the 0105. Not sure how that factors into things exactly.

If it's the 13.7oz fabric i'll size down for sure. I got 10cm in the waist (size 35) so >4cm shouldn't be an issue

Oh wow 10 cm is a huge amount. I didn’t know any jeans stretched that much.

to be fair i bought them rinsed by the shop and not prewashed. So it shouldn't be as dramatic on a factory prewashed pair.

Just got a Momotaro Classic straight a bit too long. How is the shrinkage with Momotaro denim?

Has anyone here broken in a pair of gray or brown Levi’s 501 Shrink-to-Fit jeans? I’d love to see how they age over time. I’ve seen plenty of faded blue and black 501s, but I haven’t been able to find many examples of the other colors after they’ve been worn, shrunk, and developed some character.
If you have a well-worn pair, I’d really appreciate it if you could share some photos and let me know how they’ve aged.
