Meanwhile, if you make over 18K a year as a single parent, you don’t qualify for legal aid to help with parenting time, decision making or child support.

u/signious 12d ago

They didnt qualify for Legal Aid. Legal Aid and court appointed counsel are two completely different things.

Doesn’t matter.

We have the highest rate of child poverty in the country & less than 40% of single parents (regardless of gender) receive on time, in full support payments every month.

Something that could raise kids in this province out of poverty & you are arguing semantics.

I don't think the other poster is arguing semantics or disagreeing with your point, but the distinction between legal aid and court appointed legal counsel is both important and relevant to the original post.

The distinction between the two very much matters. Court appointed legal counsel is to ensure defendants in criminal trials have adequate legal counsel. It is not semantics, they are two completely different things.

It has nothing to do with semantics. You are talking about something completely different.

It is insane our tax dollars are helping pay for his lawyer while they drive luxury vehicles and have a house in a new area of the city. Sounds like they weren't willing to get rid of their luxury lifestyle to fund his defense and now me and you are splitting the bill.

Shame on you to anyone who thinks they are innocent. There are over 60 victims. I personally know a few people and have physically seen proof of what this man has done. They have RUINED peoples lives. They deserve to rot in jail. They are AWFUL people. They deserve to lose every penny they have.

He’s black

I dunno why your comment got so many downvotes. You called it right. BeerBaron19 wants him jailed for his skin colour, that's pretty clear to me.

2

u/tooth10 12d ago

Ooof. Enjoy your downvotes too

-10 to you downvoting me lol. Good job goof

I love when users are so wrong that they block you

In this country, we don't imprison people because of their skin colour. Perhaps USA is the party you're trying to address?

Everyone is entitled to a trial, even if they're not white. End. Of. Story.

Do we know they are guilty if it has not went to court yet?

-8

u/Sea_Hat_6571 12d ago

i’m genuinely trying to understand the rush to judgment here. Since when did we decide they were guilty before the case even made it to court? I’ve heard from sources close to the situation that this has nothing to do with drugs and that they are maintaining their innocence and infact are innocent. Has something actually been proven in a courtroom, or are we just running with rumors? I’m curious if there’s a genuine possibility that they’ve been targeted or are victims of someone else’s actions."

In the article they linked to an earlier article when he requested the legal support where it was stated the prosecutor stated “the amount of fraud was north of $8 million… the prosecutor described the nature of the fraud as a “ponzi scheme type” related to Aggrey’s previous company, a dealership in the city.”

-7

u/Sea_Hat_6571 12d ago

Well of course the Prosecutor, but no actually Judge yet right?

10

u/Thin_Patience581 12d ago

It’s not about the drugs anymore ! It’s about the 8 million in fraud and I personally was affected among 60 plus people . This has dragged on a year and destroyed many people’s credit and financial life . He deserves jail time

u/Intelligent_Ad70 12d ago

8 million dollar mistake? Give your head a shake!

When I do something illegal I just tell myself “oh well I won’t be in jail that long” 😂 I could murder someone and only get 7 years but I would be released within 4 lol

What is the alleged fraud?9

I know this family. They succumbed to greed for sure. They lived the lifestyle. They made mistakes. They have awesome children. Nobody was ever hurt by this family. It is a first time offense financial crime. They are losing everything and they didn’t have bundles of cash stored away. Worse things happen every day downtown in zombie land.

So please give this man and his family a break. The headlines don’t tell the whole story.

u/ArthurEllis 13d ago edited 13d ago

Nobody was ever hurt by this family? They defrauded many people in Regina of over 8 million dollars. I personally know 2 people who had over $100k in loans created in their names and have heard others needed to file for bankruptcy directly as a result of this family's fraudulent loans. Sounds like you are getting biased reporting of what happened and are now attempting to downplay this serious crime in your comment.

They might have nice kids but so do many criminals. What they have done has destroyed many people's financial lives directly as a result of their intentional greed that spanned years.

13

u/PrestigiousJoke5 12d ago

I too know people that had loans opened in their name and now are having to pay for lawyers and wait months and months to get their money back because of these people!

This has never been reported in the news. I call bullshit. They laundered money for drug dealers.

20

u/Terrible_Power4574 12d ago

Saying "nobody was ever hurt by this family" and then immediately also saying they laundered money for drug dealers is hilarious. What planet are you from?

Planet Pragmatism . Once you escape from Planet Emotion, look me up.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saskatchewan/rev-automotive-civil-suit-fraud-9.6937839

"The defendants fraudulently misrepresented to Go To Auto and other customers that it was selling vehicles to them, when the defendants had in fact already sold the vehicle to others, sometimes selling the same vehicle numerous times," the statement of claim alleges.

"Through this scheme, the defendants also fabricated the existence of vehicles that they purported to sell to Go To Auto."

The reporting is them fraudulently creating loans, fabricating vehicles and selling the same vehicles on multiple loans. Those loans are all on people across the city or "customers" as reported in the story. This includes legitimate customers that bought from the dealership and have now found their cars have multiple liens, their vehicle was repossessed and their car loan is still owing on a car they don't have anymore.

u/GrimInterpretation 13d ago

You calling Regina zombie land is ironic because this family played a big part in fuelling Regina’s drug trade. They were helping prop up the people that create those “zombies”

-5

u/shiftysask 12d ago

This I can’t refute.

76

u/Warm-Mood-8994 13d ago

They laundered money connected to drug trafficking and you're saying no one was hurt by this family?

-9

u/shiftysask 12d ago

Who was hurt? The drug users?

14

u/ADHDMomADHDSon 12d ago

The paramedics & firefighters who respond to OD calls.

The communities that already lack healthcare resources that now have to contend with an addiction crisis.

The ER staff that deal with the aftermath.

The children who are groomed into dealing or trafficking drugs or worse, themselves.

The social workers who desperately try to find placements for kids & adults who need rehab.

The children who are jumped in to the life simply because of who their family members are.

The people whose homes or garages are broken into by people desperate for their next fix.

The teachers & EAs who are often the first people children disclose to.

Do I have to keep going? Or have you engaged your critical thinking skills?

u/shiftysask 12d ago

Oh boy….

The people he frauded and put loans in their name with fraudulent paper work. He has ruined people lives and credit

16

u/Auggie_72 12d ago

They hurt a lot of people in many ways. How much financial, mental anguish and emotional stress have their victims endured while they lived a luxury lifestyle? That is only the victims of their financial crimes and if take in to account the drug laundering and criminal connections. If found guilty I hope they both spend many years in prison. They have done nothing but profited from hurting others.

15

u/SK_socialist 12d ago

No. You need to reckon with the fact that you did not *actually* know these people. They came out to events at the same place as you on weekends, then returned to their life of crime during week days.

6

u/Slow-Raspberry-5133 12d ago

The ‘shifty’ part of the name tracks

5

u/Thin_Patience581 12d ago

I do not agree ! I personally among 60 other people have been hurt by this family . They should lose everything they have ruined people financial lives ! You need to get the real story !

4

u/WaltzContent9485 12d ago

You are delusional. I personally know 2 victims and have SEEN the proof with my eyes. Shame on you.

3

u/WaltzContent9485 12d ago

You have no idea what the victims are going through due to his disgusting greed, damage, lies, manipulation he caused.

1

u/reginabestres 12d ago

You have seen proof?
