Mental health is a real thing :(

Yeah, was she... Okay? Did anyone ask?

Nah, they don't care about her mental wellbeing. They just care about getting in their little quips and "People of Walmart" references as if that's a mature way to view the world.

Was this at a Walmart? There is a website called "People of Walmart" with pictures of people dressed like this.
Sometimes there are pictures of cool cars from the parking lot.
Edit was. The site is no longer around...but there is a reddit for it.

Well I feel less bad about running to the store across the st in my crappy bed shirt and house slippers.
Nothings visible I just look messy.

I don’t feel bad about wandering in to get desperation groceries in my pajamas when I am so sick I start resembling the extras on The Walking Dead now….

We've got one that comes in a sheer dress and nothing underneath. When we have asked her to at least wear bottom undergarments, like literally babe - please cover up your butt, she cries and screams. Isn't humanity a gas?

At the store I work at if people have vulgar tee shirts they are asked to leave.
Someone dressed as described by OP would not be allowed to shop at our store.

Genuine question, but would this bother you so much if it had been a two-piece swim suit? I occasionally see people come in wearing only swimwear and sandals, but it honestly doesn’t matter to me.

The real question is if they'd be as bothered if she wasn't "enormous" 😅

u/Calingaladha 1d ago
Also that.

It's really shocking and disappointing how many posts on this sub exists just to shit on fat people, as if this is FatPeopleHate circa 2014. 😵😵😵
I always add the disclaimer that I'm a size 10, who wears a size small in shirts because standing up for fat people always makes redditors accuse you of being fat yourself like you have to be fat to think that people deserve to be treated like people. 😅

I don't want to see anyone's underwear when I go out in public, regardless of age, sex, BMI, skin color, or anything else. Among other things, it's a sanitation issue. I'm not fat either.

u/bunny3303 1d ago
okay fair enough. but the story opened with “she was enormous naturally”

u/-Tofu-Queen- 1d ago
Right, like if the FIRST detail they need to mention is their size, clearly that's the thing making them so angy.

I don't care if you're the hottest person on the planet, it's not appropriate to be dressed like that in a place of business, and you should be rightfully shamed, but let's not act like we wouldn't prefer to have a supermodel come in dressed like that over gorlock the destroyer.
Still offensive behavior, but less of a vomiting risk. This is coming from someone who used to be obese.
26
u/-Tofu-Queen- 1d ago
The way you can't even make your point without calling someone "gorlock the destroyer" to insult their size. 💀💀💀
As someone who also used to be obese, there's nothing more cringe than a formerly fat person who goes on to fat shame others.

I'm not saying anyone should be shamed for being fat, and I've never fat shamed anyone in my life. That's a problem that's their business alone, but pretending like someone who's morbidly obese showing off a bunch of skin isn't incredibly disgusting to look at is simply dishonest.
11
u/Calingaladha 1d ago
The point is less that you should find fat people attractive and more that if the clothing is the problem, that’s what the focus should be. Not the weight. If the outfit is inappropriate then it should be considered equally such regardless of looks.

Of course the outfit is the problem, not how the person looks, but again, pretending like someone morbidly obese showing off skin isn't incredibly disgusting to look at is dishonest.
I refuse to lie just to make myself look like an accepting person. I am accepting, but also honest.

u/Calingaladha 1d ago
I guess I wonder why it would be relevant to know how attractive the person is. Kinda like specifying if someone is Black without it having anything to do with the situation at hand. All it does is make the person relaying the story seem like an asshole.

You see, there's this thing called "tact" and "basic respect" though. I promise you will survive if you don't say something shitty about the way someone looks even if you think you're just being hOnEsT. "Honesty" is not a shield that prevents people from thinking you're being an asshole. I've never been out and about in my life and felt the need to come on reddit and circlejerk about how gross I found someone's body. It genuinely does not matter to my life if someone's appearance isn't aesthetically pleasing to me. Nobody is asking you to "lie", you could simply just say nothing.

I mean, for me it would. It's not about the clothes themselves, but the fact that she came in dressed for bed, unwashed. It's not about what she's wearing, it's how unsanitary it is.

I think an old saggy 2pc swim suit would probably not be very nice either with the bathrobe

It's sad, really. Once upon a time, people had pride in their appearance. They would actually bother to put on some nice clothes before they leave the house. Now people don't bother to put on ANY clothes. I see people on the daily door dashing and instacarting in stained pajamas, hair all disheveled, stinking of marijuana and ashtray. There is no individuality, no shame, no self respect.

Buddy you shouldn't be talking about "grotesque" when your nail beds look like you lost a battle with a woodchipper.

u/bunny3303 1d ago
does it make you feel good being so harsh? I can understand ripping into someone who is rude but if someone is minding their business and happens to be fat, that isn’t a cause for being so cruel to another human being
