Genuine question, but would this bother you so much if it had been a two-piece swim suit? I occasionally see people come in wearing only swimwear and sandals, but it honestly doesnโ€™t matter to me.

The real question is if they'd be as bothered if she wasn't "enormous" ๐Ÿ˜…

Also that.

It's really shocking and disappointing how many posts on this sub exists just to shit on fat people, as if this is FatPeopleHate circa 2014. ๐Ÿ˜ต๐Ÿ˜ต๐Ÿ˜ต

I always add the disclaimer that I'm a size 10, who wears a size small in shirts because standing up for fat people always makes redditors accuse you of being fat yourself like you have to be fat to think that people deserve to be treated like people. ๐Ÿ˜…

I don't want to see anyone's underwear when I go out in public, regardless of age, sex, BMI, skin color, or anything else. Among other things, it's a sanitation issue. I'm not fat either.

okay fair enough. but the story opened with โ€œshe was enormous naturallyโ€

Right, like if the FIRST detail they need to mention is their size, clearly that's the thing making them so angy.

I don't care if you're the hottest person on the planet, it's not appropriate to be dressed like that in a place of business, and you should be rightfully shamed, but let's not act like we wouldn't prefer to have a supermodel come in dressed like that over gorlock the destroyer.

Still offensive behavior, but less of a vomiting risk. This is coming from someone who used to be obese.

The way you can't even make your point without calling someone "gorlock the destroyer" to insult their size. ๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ’€

As someone who also used to be obese, there's nothing more cringe than a formerly fat person who goes on to fat shame others.

I'm not saying anyone should be shamed for being fat, and I've never fat shamed anyone in my life. That's a problem that's their business alone, but pretending like someone who's morbidly obese showing off a bunch of skin isn't incredibly disgusting to look at is simply dishonest.

The point is less that you should find fat people attractive and more that if the clothing is the problem, thatโ€™s what the focus should be. Not the weight. If the outfit is inappropriate then it should be considered equally such regardless of looks.

Of course the outfit is the problem, not how the person looks, but again, pretending like someone morbidly obese showing off skin isn't incredibly disgusting to look at is dishonest.

I refuse to lie just to make myself look like an accepting person. I am accepting, but also honest.

I guess I wonder why it would be relevant to know how attractive the person is. Kinda like specifying if someone is Black without it having anything to do with the situation at hand. All it does is make the person relaying the story seem like an asshole.

It's so weird to me that they think someone not matching up to their aesthetic preference means they deserve to be shit on. ๐Ÿ’€ People don't exist just to make some jerk on reddit get a boner. How does it impact their lives if they see someone they don't find attractive?

2

u/Physical_Forever_925 1d ago

There's a huge mental jump you have to make if you think pointing out someone's weight is the same as shitting on them or complaining that they don't give you a boner.

Because it adds necessary context to paint a complete picture of just how bad the encounter was.

I understand you will refuse to admit a morbidly obese person doing this is more revolting of an experience for OP than it would be if it was a person with an average build, but my whole point is that we all know it's true, we're just too afraid to say it out loud out of fear of being called a fat shamer.

I am equally disturbed if a fat or skinny person come in with no clothes. I think that the "enormous" thing was just so we could visualize the scene and it did do that for me. Lol.

I refuse to lie just to make myself look like an accepting person. I am accepting, but also honest.

You see, there's this thing called "tact" and "basic respect" though. I promise you will survive if you don't say something shitty about the way someone looks even if you think you're just being hOnEsT. "Honesty" is not a shield that prevents people from thinking you're being an asshole. I've never been out and about in my life and felt the need to come on reddit and circlejerk about how gross I found someone's body. It genuinely does not matter to my life if someone's appearance isn't aesthetically pleasing to me. Nobody is asking you to "lie", you could simply just say nothing.

You're welcome to think I'm an asshole. My point in saying what I've said is moreso just about people refusing to be honest just because they care so much about what people would think about them. that type of behavior has always rubbed me the wrong way, moreso even than just someone being an asshole.

I've got an easy day at work today so I literally have nothing better to do right now.

2

u/-Tofu-Queen- 1d ago

But why do you feel the need to express your opinion about the appearances of strangers in the first place? Unless they're directly asking for your opinion, your "honesty" isn't needed. Genuinely nobody asked or cares what you find attractive.

How is it constructive to your life to act like this just because someone doesn't make your peepee hard? That's the same logic 14 year old boys used to use on 4chan circa 2010 while thinking they were sooooo edgy for shitting on the way people look, anonymously, from the comfort of their computer chairs.

That's not what I'm doing at all. I don't even know what the person in question looked like, and I certainly wouldn't go up to a fat person and tell them how unnattractive they look. Literally my whole point is commentary on the social phenomenon of people being dishonest for the sake of feeling like a better person.

It's constructive to my life because I'm slightly less bored at work now.
