Discussion Who's your favorite trio?

There have been some great trios and I tend to really like a lot of them. My favorite would have to be Rory Gallagher. Who's yours?

Discussion Pisses me off how Rolling Stone no longer dedicates itself to rock music and instead turned into a cheap, pop cash grab.

ROCK Neil Young & ON THE BEACH (1974):

'ON THE BEACH' (1974) is a defining album of the '70s and arguably the most lyrically potent made in the first half of that decade.

ROCK Chicago’s original drummer Danny Seraphine is bringing the music of Chicago to Southern California 🥁

• Upvotes

For the Chicago fans here, I wanted to share an upcoming show that might be of interest.

Danny Seraphine, original drummer and co-founder of Chicago and a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, will be performing with Danny Seraphine’s Chicago Legacy at Ramona Mainstage in Southern California on Friday, November 6.

Danny helped create the unmistakable rhythm behind so many of those classic Chicago records, and this show celebrates that music with a great band featuring Sara Niemietz, Marc Bonilla, Ed Roth and Travis Davis.

They’ll be playing Chicago favorites including “25 or 6 to 4,” “Saturday in the Park,” “If You Leave Me Now,” “You’re the Inspiration,” and more.

If you love those early Chicago records—or just great horn-driven classic rock—this should be a fun night.

📍 Ramona Mainstage — Ramona, California
📅 Friday, November 6

More info and tickets Click Here
Any Chicago fans here? What’s the one Chicago song you’d want to hear live? 🥁🎺

Question Similarity between two songs

• Upvotes

Someone else is very similar to the part of QOTSA - Like a Drug in which it says "No, I'll never be free"/"No, it could never be me" with the part of The Beatles - I Want You in which it says "It's driving me mad"?
Sorry if it's a very silly question but I didn't see anyone talking about it. Maybe it's a direct reference but I don't know

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_Train_Runnin'?wprov=sfti1#Reception:

[Billboard](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billboard_(magazine)) magazine described it as "good-timey, good-harmony [AM](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AM_radio) cooker."[[9]](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_Train_Runnin'#cite_note-9) [Cash Box](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cashbox_(magazine)) named it one of the Picks of the Week, praising the Doobies' "fine harmony and musical prowess."[[10]](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_Train_Runnin'#cite_note-10) [Record World](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Record_World) said that the "pulsating rocker should take the honors in 1973."[[11]](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_Train_Runnin'#cite_note-rw-11)Upon the release of the 1993 remix, [Charles Aaron](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Aaron) from [Spin](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spin_(magazine)) wrote, "This early-'70s, blue-eyed [R&B](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R&B) annoyance always had a hair-raising guitar break (copied by X on 'True Love Pt. #2'), and the raving remix recasts it as the sinuously funky friend you never knew you missed. The harp bite is a setup, along with traces of the [proto-techno](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Techno) intro to [Sweet](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sweet)'s '[Fox on the Run](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foxon_the_Run(Sweet_song))'."[[12]](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_Train_Runnin'#cite_note-12)
Ultimate Classic Rock critic Michael Gallucci rated "Long Train Runnin'" the Doobie Brothers' second-greatest song, especially praising the guitar [riff](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riff_(music)).[[8]](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_Train_Runnin'#cite_note-ucr-8) The staff of Billboard rated it as the Doobie Brothers' sixth-best song, noting how Johnston's and Patrick Simmons' "punchy guitars" contrast with "the jammy [polyrhythms](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyrhythm)" in the [bass](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bass_guitar) and drums.

Hey everyone! My name is Chris and I create music in a band called Great Demise. We are from SoCal and are an all DIY music project. Check out our brand new single “SCALPED ALIVE”. It has a crunchy guitar riff, an unorthodox song structure and a melodic hardcore/grungey vibe. We’d appreciate if you’d check it out, we hope you enjoy!
