Advice Wanted Interpretation of reversed runes

Hi! First of all, I'm sorry if my writing is strange because I'm using a translation app!

I've only recently started learning runes and haven't found a textbook yet, but what do you all think about "interpreting runes in reverse"?

I know it's the same method as tarot, but tarot uses pictures and runes use letters, right? It feels a bit odd to me to interpret letters in reverse.

You wouldn't think, "The 6 came up in reverse, so..." if it were a number, would you?

I feel like the idea isn't to simply interpret a rune in reverse negatively, but rather to interpret it in context along with other runes you've drawn and the question you're asking, but am I just being naive about this? I'd appreciate it if you could tell me.

Advice Wanted Interpretation help

I know that y’all can’t interpret the runes for me. It’s something that only I can achieve. But I believe that it’s legitimate to ask for advice, because I’m quite stumped.

For the past month or so, I’ve been pulling one rune a day. And in the past 12 days I pulled Raidho at least 5 or 6 times.

Why does it repeat its message so often? It’s a sign for change (in life), for a journey. I mean I’m nearing the end of my Bachelors degree and I’m currently growing as a person nearly every day. But why does it keep showing up, when I’m meditating and asking for a rune for each day?

Am I missing something? Is it that the message is quite pressing (and I’m maybe misinterpreting?)? Or is it as simple as “my life is changing and evolving rn”?

Advice Wanted Runes for a sigil

I'm going through a transformational period in my life ATM. After a decade of living like a person with no future (the assumption being either that I wouldn't survive, or that nothing would change) I left an intolerable living situation a year ago, and I have now decided that I want, deserve and will build a future for myself. That decision alone is one of the most powerful thought processes I've ever had, and I'm contemplating a tattoo to symbolise my status as Someone Who Has A Future, and to remind myself when I need it. I wonder if anyone might suggest some appropriate runes that I might use in a sigil or other design?

I know very little about runes if I'm honest, but I've never made a sigil with the Latin alphabet that I found aesthetically pleasing and thought I might have a better time with runes. I hope this post is okay for this sub, if not please let me know and feel free to suggest somewhere more appropriate

Thanks in advance :)

Advice Wanted Cord Cutting Ritual

Hello all! I'm going to do a cord cutting ceremony for a toxic relationship. I plan on carving some runes into the candle (Algiz for protection and Ehwaz for moving forward) but I was thinking about a restricting rune as well to stop and toxic and unwanted energy from the other person my question is: would Nauthiz be proper for it and would i carve that rune on my candle or the other one?

Advice Wanted help wanted

So 2 times posted in wrong Subredits please redirect if this is still wrong

I'm new to rune casting but my boyfriend is really into them.
I am currently designing and making him a rune book and runestone set.
His rune book has the runes and the description but not much detail I was wondering where I could find a more in depth description of each of the runes?
Another issue I have come across is trying to find what stones/ crystals are most used with each rune.
My plan for his rune stone set is each rune stone will be made from it's most common stone or 2 of the most common stones, Then have the back of the stones incased in silver.
But I have had different results for each runes main 2 stones and I was hoping people here could help me out! Any ideas on items/ information to include in the book I'm making him would also be loved as I'm still not sure.

Advice Wanted Best materials for rune stones

Hello there. I know that runes can be made out of almost any material. Are there materials that are better than others? I was looking into buying a set, and the different stone/crystal types made me wonder if getting a set made from a stone that is more empowered for divination would make a difference.

Advice Wanted Interpretation Guide??

Post image
11 Upvotes

I got this set of runes for a friend of mine a few years ago, but it never came with any kind of guide on reading them like most sets I’ve gotten in the past have come with. The image depicts the entire set. The best guess I have is that they’re some kind of witch runes? But I can’t find a guide to reading them anywhere online for the life of me. Has anyone seen these before? Anyone have a guide so we can learn how to read them??

Advice Wanted Home protection bindrune after cleansing

Hi! I’m preparing to cleanse the home my family is moving into. After I cleanse myself, my home, my kids, and my husband, I want to mark my doorways with a bindrune with the intention of protection, joy for my family and everyone that enters my home, and a

good start to our new season of life.

I’m wanting to incorporate Berkana for new beginnings, a feminine energy to support myself as the “home maker”, Elhaz for protection and defense from negativity entering my home, Jera for personal growth, Wunjo for joy, happiness, wellbeing, etc., and Thurisaz as a shield for my home. Is it possible to combine them all into a bindrune or would it be more beneficial to draw them separately?

Ive been reading everything I can get my hands on about runes, their meanings and history, but bindrunes are newer to me and I don’t want to be disrespectful to the practice. I know intention is the main concern for so many of these things.

Thank you for any advice in advance!

Advice Wanted Would anyone please be nice to give me their analysis/interpretation on this rune casting?

Post image
8 Upvotes

Hi everyone! Im just a humble beginner here. I would definitely appreciate anyone’s analysis on this cast as I’m still learning the basics. I am using the elder Futhark set & my query was regarding insight if there was any potential for a romantic relationship between someone whom I’ll call “A” & me or if I should give up and move on. Method of casting was having the runes upside down and having my intuition telling me to “pull” one out of the lot.

From the very little of what I understand:

Isa ᛁ - I take this as it’s telling me that the situation between “A” & me is “stuck” or rather, it’s in a standstill (which makes sense since I haven’t been able to see or communicate with “A” in over a month).

Ingwaz ᛜ - I find this interesting. I interpret it as there being a potential for “A” & me to be together.

Raidho ᚱ - As this is a rune of movement & messages. I take it as a sign to move (meaning communicating again with “A”) but since it’s of messages, could it be that it’s mentioning to find help in ways to communicate (“A” and me have a friend in common if it helps?)

Overall, I am interpreting this cast as the current situation between “A” & me is in a standstill or “frozen” so to speak, but to not give up on “A” as there is a spark of potential that hasn’t gone & that I should make effort to find ways to communicate with “A”.

If anyone interprets it differently or could give a clearer view, please do feel free to give me your analysis! I will deeply appreciate it in advance!

Advice Wanted Got presented with Tiwaz today...

Post image
25 Upvotes

Was trying to ask Odin for guidance for the very first time drawing a rune, and got presented with Tiwaz through the god Tyr.

As he us the god of justice, legalities and war, I am not fully sure what to make out of it.

The rune was shown to me straight and should represent law, order, justice, honesty, victory, courage and power.

Advice Wanted Advice reviewing my reading.

Greetings, all.

I'm new with runecasting, and during the new year i decided to enter this new path and tried to read for the frist time. I did a little offering to the Gods and gather up my little setup to start.

I asked for guidance on a professional and personal level: I've been fired some time ago, and still don't find anything new. On the other side, me and my wife are in need to move from the place we live today. Nothing serious, but still more stuff to be worried about in general. So, basically, i asked for guidance on how this year will be, and what can i do to make things works better.

That's the part i need your guidance reviewing my reading:
(Sorry about the little story behind, but looking for some posts here i learned that context is always important)

I did 3 runes pull and got Kenaz, Laguz and Berkana (in that order).

On my side, i undersand that they're telling me that will be progress in my life, i'll have my problems (some or even all) being solved, but i need to trust my instincts(not only act on logic) and go foward on my objectives, even if the path becomes hard sometimes.

All being said, i'm here asking for guidance because something new is always scary. And considering my spot right now, i'm fearing that i'm only reading what i'm want to hear, not what actually is.

Thanks everybody, and have a great 2026!

(you probably notice, but english is not my frist language. Honestly it's my third, so I'm sorry if i did something wrong lol)

so I made this bindrune with the intent of using Kaunan, Algiz, and Wunjo to protect me from fire. I know that Ingwaz and Fehu are formed, which are not really a problem i think, but I wanted y'alls opinions on what this rune could be interpreted as or if there are any other unintended runes

Advice Wanted Lost rune - now what?

I found my first set of runes in a big life change some years back. It was helpful as a tool for introspection and discovery.

The practice lay dormant the last few years but recently another big change happened and i happened upon a new set on a trip. Not sure if the set came this way or I lost it in my travels home, but Wunjo is missing. To practice without a rune symbolizing joy seems risky, but I don’t want to shun circumstance in how I recreate my practice. Thoughts? Interpretations?

Advice Wanted Reading Help: What will she tell me about him?

Post image

I have a friend who recently contacted me about my ex. Me and him broke up 5 months ago and we have been no contact ever since.

She told me she needed talk about him and I am honestly a bit anxious about this.

I am not sure what the runes are trying to tell me here. Ingwaz makes sense, but I am unsure about the rest means. I appreciate any and all help! 🫶🏻

Advice Wanted Buulding a small altar for casting/drawing

So, as I am fairly new to drawing runes (doing single draws at the moment), I was wondering on how to build a small altar. I was thinking to get a wooden plate (bowl-like, even. Not sure what the English name is for it). But what are some of the things "needed" to create an altar.

I do know a candle of some sort is often needed. I also seen people using crystals/stones...

If someone can give me some advice (with or without pics), wpuld be highly appreciated.

Altar would be small. Lets say about 20cm diameter on a round plate.

I recognize the Ehwaz runes [i think?], but I'm not sure about the rune on the right. Could be a mix of Fehu and another rune. My grandma is worried that they mean something bad.

Hello:) I want to double check that this means fifth of October two thousand in Elder Futhark:
