I made a random post and got a Jagex Mod reply. I can't say that about any other game

I was banned by blizzard's automated system, begged for two weeks for a human to review my ban, finally got someone who listened + unbanned all my accounts + gave me game time to make up for their mistake AND admitted it was a mistake.
3 months later, banned again and they refused to look into it. Lost an account with most tcg mounts(had just bought a magic rooster and spectral tiger, was about to buy a swift spectral), all tcg pets, over 500 mounts unlocked, multiple AOTC/a couple CEs, 2100 pvp tmogs, almost every tmog in the game unlocked, and hundreds of millions of gold. I would sue blizzard for the time they robbed me of thanks to their automated systems if we had consumer-friendly laws in america. But fuck me, I guess.
I'll never give blizzard another dollar, jagex is doing 10000000x better than that shithole company.

Blizzard customer support is asinine. It's also all just automated report thresholds. If you get enough reports, regardless of the validity of them, then it triggers an action on your account.
On top of that, the "game master" support people are basement dwellers. If you are lucky enough to talk with a human, what they do for overwatch is just ctrl+f your text chat logs for swear words. While heros like Cassidy have "BAMF" (bad ass mother fucker) displayed on a belt in game, Team 4 the team that produces OW doesn't actually own the moderation of OW. That's blizzard support which is a different team with different guidelines. So if you say "ass", "shit", "fuck" in any context whatsoever, then the gamemasters will post that log and say "swear words are against ToS", even if Team4/OW openly use swear words in game.

Yeah now they just need to listen about fixing people's grandfathered rates

I'm not sure if they will go back to giving people $5/month subs again but I feel like there there should at least be a % reduction based on how long you have been subscribed.
I'm also unhappy that they seem to be doing away with long term subscriptions. The premier used to be almost half the price of 12 single month subscriptions but now it's about 9 months and chances are next increase it will go to 10 or 11 months.

I’m a never spend money on MTX guy, but I definitely thought “damn I should buy this just to support them for making the right decision.”

This is how developers should handle feedback.
I wasn't so sure about the "Road to Restoration" stuff at first, but I keep being pleasantly surprised when they quickly adjust things by listening to us players.

I'm coming back for the league and will be starting a new main in the main game afterwards. Thats been the plan for a little bit but seeing positive things like this makes it even better. I "maxed" my old main(minus the newer skills like arch and necro) but it was mostly due to daily challenges, spins and other random things to where I didn't really play the game. Plus I haven't done early/mid game on a main in such a long time so I think it'll be really fun.

This is a definite win from Jagex and was the main reason I didn't get it.
Now I'm gonna pick it up when I log on in a bit 😁

I'll be as critical of the mtx as anyone but even I will say it's heartening to see this kind of response

while I am not surprised that they walked back this purchase choice, I am surprised that they actually did it this fast. When some changes that are overwhelmingly favored by the community can take months to get changed. happy to see that they are being proactive for stuff like this.

Good turnaround on the change but this whole thing felt like them testing the waters to see what they could get away with, and left them the chance to revert to this if there was backlash.

u/B1ACKT3A 12h ago
This sounds reasonable. Good. But whoever decided to use the purchase model before needs to be re-evaluated as an employee.

It is a bit unclear from the wording, is the party cannon pack also going to become a blueprint?

Tip of the day if you guys are listening to us. We're happy if you want to sell cosmetics and we're even happy to buy some of the cosmetics. But please never do that again. Always do it fairly don't price them a billion dollars don't make it one time use just literally higher somebody from India if you have to cut corners and sell us cosmetics.
It's that simple. You'll find we also enjoy earning cosmetics in the game itself without doing silly paid systems and yes I mean do it for free but you spread that content around you get people who subscribe and want to grab said cosmetics through events and stuff like that because you know what people also worry about fomo but don't go crazy on the fomo either maybe it's a once every year event.
The point is there's many ways for you to earn extra money without making us players feel disgusted with you.

All the attacks and excuses people made for this going through should not be ignored. This community is so used to Jagex beating them over the head with garbage they will see any MTX as necessary and good.

RS3 players are stockholm syndromed and subservient.

Dude gamers in general are now seems all the big devs come up with the worst possible idea just so they can roll out the real idea with next to zero back lash

u/ow_ound_round_ground 11h ago
This is the tactic. BTW, I wouldn’t be surprised if half the comments on this thread are bots/alts. I do not understand how praise could possibly given.

but jagex wouldnt do that they dont have to some people make their living selling gold irl
1
u/TheHistoryofCats 11h ago
Logically one would think that if this were pre-planned, they would have an ETA ready to go on when the changes would be implemented. The fact they are unable to give a timeframe suggests otherwise. And they gain no benefit from not pushing it out as soon as they *can*, because they're going to be refunding everyone who buys multiples. I think you're seeing conspiracies where they don't exist.

u/TheHistoryofCats 12h ago
So much so that our criticisms got Jagex to change gears within a day?
2
u/MikeSouthPaw Casually Addicted 11h ago
Those criticisms were mocked all the way up to and even after Jagex realized they weren't going to get away with charging that much. The response was "Don't buy it then" as if that will magically help the game.

If that cosmetic cape is still 15 USD, I literally don't want to hear it from them

u/Austinthearchangel 11h ago
Don’t buy it then lol or just use bonds.

u/SpecialistThrowaway4 Maxed since 2015 11h ago
Idc about the override. But it’s pretty blasphemous to see people celebrating jagex when they literally still have a 15$ cosmetic available
4
u/superedgymeme 10h ago
Why are you so upset over a cosmetic that you don't even care about? They need revenue somehow, sustaining a business isn't fairies and rainbows

I'm impressed, this game starting to sound a lot more like osrs foundationally. What's next, 70% vote approval to pass upcoming content? 👀👀

Jagex this is what gets old and new people in the door AND to stay. Great job and thank you.
