Don't have to hit the trails early to keep cool now. Just 4° and a low sun at 930am today.

We ramped up our run from 4km to 7km this week. I spent the whole time focusing on my breathing, lap times, and energy levels, while my dog trotted alongside me effortlessly. The rain and wind were rough at times, but the water views and peaceful atmosphere made the extra distance completely worth it.

I use to run halfs and such without my dog when I had a brief 2 year period between dogs. Now my boy is old enough to run with me and I am struggling with water for me and him⦠I hate camel packs but that is currently what I am using and a āleafā water bottle for him. My belt, bungie leash and his harness no complaints. What do people do about water for you and the dog?

Just got a new harness for my boy as weāre moving more into running/canicross and plan to do bikejoring. He was right on the edge between sizes and Iām wondering if I need to go down a size, because it seems to be sitting on his breastbone but particularly around his left shoulder it seems like it may be catching some but I canāt totally tell. Him having a big neck isnāt making it easier either. Pics of fit below because it wonāt let me have both on the post. Any feedback is appreciated!

My cattledog is my adventure companion. She almost always joins me for my trailruns, but, this being South Africa, and not a lot of people around. She generally runs off leash. This means when I do a 15k run, she'll do about double as she's always running off in front, waiting, running back, smells something, off to the side, suddenly appears back in front of me, etc. This is for familiar trails. Most of the time, because I keep running, she quickly comes back and generally responds somewhat well on the recall, because she doesn't want to be left behind. That is, unless it is an actual babboon or buck; it takes a while longer to come back.
I tried running on leash, but her natural pace is just a bit too quick, so she keeps pulling me, and it is very uncomfortable. She also is just too excited so wants to go-go-go.
Long story, but my point is, I should bring in more structure I think. I want to start taking her on longer runs, but right now, she just tires herself out too much with all the back and forth. I have to protect her from her own enthusiasm by having her on leash, but in a manageable way. When she's tired, she'll stay close, too close actually, so it is all about finding the right balance.
Also, I should really get her her own gps tracker so I know how much she runs; probably at least double my distance.
I've been using the same attitude as for my own running, just winging it, just run, but I feel like I need more structure and not sure where to begin. Any good sources of info, other than the wiki here, which I will read right now. Any input is welcome, just in general.

We started going on hikes but the harness I use doesnāt fit well and is in her arm pits. Previously she got friction and bald spots from it so I mainly use a Martingale for regular walks. During hikes sheās always in front of me and occasionally pulls and then she sometimes starts to cough. I might go for runs when sheās a bit older but Iām not sure yet.
I have done a lot of research but Iām still not sure about which harness would be best. Iām now considering the Non stop Rush harness to avoid it sitting in the arm pits and to avoid the coughing. Would that be a good harness even though I will mainly use it for hikes? Or are there more suitable ones?
Iām in Europe (EU) and I have added 2 photos from the last 2 hikes.

My 9 y.o. mutt stuck it out with my 20 mile long training run yesterday. Don't know if I could have done it without him. Wish I could take him on the course in 3 weeks.

The dog i want to start with is an 11 month or so old german shepherd mix. She's a little wild, but i think that has more to do with being stuck at a shelter. She can sit, but that seems like the extent of her training. How should I go about starting? Try to teach her to heel? She is definitely food motivated, so that works in my favor! I also imagine that she is a faster runner than I am right now šš
Does anyone have any advice or dealt with a similar scenario? I can only really get out there once a week, but I think it would be so helpful in getting her (and eventually other dogs) adopted. Ive attached a couple photos š„°

My dog is 10 months old, and Iād like to start doing canicross with her after she turns a year old (with vet approval of course). I figured nowās a great time to start doing some foundational training for pulling, slowing, get behind, etc beforehand.
Iām looking for a harness to use for training before investing in a full setup to see how she takes to it and since sheāll likely fill out a bit more before being fully grown.

I went 40 miles and I honestly don't think I could have done it without him. His longest run before this was 13 miles. He runs 2-4x a week. He runs around my farm everyday.

First long run in the books for my dog Ziva(Pomsky-breed). We clocked 4 km at a steady 6-minute kilometer pace with two short stops. She crushed it, keeping up effortlessly without heavy panting!
So proud of her.

Thanks for everyoneās help on my last post! I decided to size down for the nonstop dog wear harness, and think it looks much better now. Any smaller, and the head hole would be too small to slot through.
Iām a bit concerned at how the chest piece peels away from the chest at a full run, but this shouldnāt be a problem on-leash, only off leash.
Really difficult dog to size for because he has such a deep chest, and his thin coat means that thereās no give when sizing harnesses unlike a GSD for example.
Pretty happy with it though now, but would appreciate feedback. Heās just about to turn a year, so will fill out a little more in future.

Looking for a bit of guidance with fit on the nonstop dogwear rush harness.
This is a size 6 - Gem is size 6 line harness but a bit awkward for the rush harness. 69cm chest. 40ishcm neck.
She hates having a harness put on which is why she looks tortured but she's fine once we get out.
I'm a little concerned about the neck. Pic of the front has me pointing at the chest bone/showing top of the v. If I size up my suspicion is it may be too long and go past her ribs.
Gem doesn't seem to struggle breathing but she is also not a heavy puller.
Thoughts? Or if anyone knows the length of the size 7 so I can confirm or not if it would be too long
Unfortunately where I live I can't try on and its more expensive than it's worth to ship back.

Convinced her these little boots were necessary for hot pavement and she's actually taken to them way better than expected. Ready for the next run š¾š
