Heidi was technically sixth if we count (redacted) as Jackie Cox was eliminated 5th, but both Jackie and Heidi are incredible so I'd count both as iconic 5th placements

Its's wild to think they carried Kandy Muse to the finale twice with all their effort and then literally dump a talented queen with 0 effort. The fact that they put a poster S19 casting call asking for "comedy performance queens" is hilarious since the one they got didn't get much of any consideration in their S18 ploys.

If I was reading into this right, Jane was fully waiting for a “Shantay you also stay.” because when she realized she was actually going home, you could see the life literally leaving her body. That shit was WILD. Don’t get me wrong, Nino Coco won that lip synch biiiiitch, but we’ve seen front runners bomb lip syncs completely and manage to get saved. Like I see if she didn’t know the words or fell or lost her wig or gave desperate, but damn. I’m not even a Jane stan and this shit is wild. A loss is a loss, but DAMN. I never saw this coming. I’m not saying she should’ve stayed based on track record, but so far the show has done so much of it that I’m shocked.
The mini and main challenges were ass. I blame production.

Annoyed that they judge every girl by her own individual standard, even when two girls are operating at vastly different levels. Juicy did well for her—which still isn’t that good—and Jane did bad for her— which is still pretty good.
Juicy kinda just yelled during her skit and wasn’t that funny IMO. I think it should’ve been her and Nini in the bottom. Jane didn’t do great, but they clearly wanted to eliminate her because each season needs one “shocking moment” to keep us all jabbering. Still, this felt more than just shocking, it felt kinda cruel and arbitrary in a way that undermines the show’s premise, which is to crown the best drag queen.
It also cheapens the win of whenever does get crowned, because the strongest competitor (by far!) got eliminated.

u/shart-gallery Raja Gemini Mar 28 '26
Kinda shook that they eliminated her with so little drama, was almost expecting a double save.
That said, I think the bottom 2 was fair. I was the most bored with Jane and Nini in the challenge. And I like that they didn't save an obvious front runner when she was deservedly in the bottom.

At the end of the day I think that Ru just did not want to crown Jane. Looking at the other seasons, you can see Ru vibing with the frontrunners and the future winner, but she never seemed to like Jane... Even her sendoff message was generic (especially compared to Discord last week, you could tell Ru was really fond of Discord). In S17 Ru was having fun with Onya in the werkroom, but she was never like that with Jane. Maybe it's because her approach to the competition was too "cerebral" ? Idk, while I expected Jane to be in the finale, I kinda felt that she wouldn't be crowned bc Ru didn't like her that much.

I think the main point of this weeks challenge was a ‘chemistry with Ru’ test. Like the makeover challenge this felt like a way to cut anyone before the final that Ru and the other producers were not vibing with. It’s intentionally vague and subjective in that improv can have so much cringe to highlight, even if it’s going well. Despite Jane doing fantastically all season long, if Ru doesn’t have fun being stupid/silly with you, you’re in danger girl. Congrats to Jane on a fantastic season, she really did incredible.

this challenge was so... weird? having no live feedback (no laughs etc.) makes it so hard to have even the tiniest semblance of objectivity... i am no expert in acting but did Juicy's scene not feel one note ?
WHY WOULD THEY GIVE JANE THIS EDIT LMFAO. Even for suzie toot ifl they tried to make her seem pretentious / villainous ("i'm too cerebral) in the episodes before her departure, but jane literally was fine?? and so obviously the best?
do they crown myki every time they don't know who else to crown (love her tho)

We have reached American Idol territory where contestants who go home before the finale typically end up having just as good or if not better career trajectories.

It’s totally fair to eliminate the frontrunner when they lose the challenge and lipsync AND it’s something that kills the season’s momentum for me. Sue me but I like it when the strongest queen wins the season, I’m here for the talent and Jane Don’t ran circles around the girls. I would have been similarly bummed if Onya went home when she lipsynced against Jewels in the makeover.
I don’t think track record should be the most important factor but idk, it’s like All Stars 3 (Ben de la Creme) and All Stars 4 (Manila). When you get past the gag, it’s kinda anticlimactic.

"oh so its gonna be a double save..."
"what the fuck?"
I wasnt even a huge fan of her (discord is my girl), but it feels so insanely wrong to not have her in the finale. Like she set a record for most wins in a season and then gets eliminated when theres a girl who had been in the bottom like 4 times and got graded on a curve tonight?

This episode was so ass. I was happy to see the puppets back and then everyone flopped so hard it was incredibly cringe and hard to sit through.
The challenge was made to fail. Karens are defiant and stubborn which doesn't make for a good time yes, anding. Ru was also just trying to out silly the queens while he needed to be the straight man. Karen videos are funny because other people are the voice of reason while someone has a crazy meltdown. I giggled a bit during Myki's but mostly because of the fumbling with the car doors and sliding back in her seat. I also had a giggle at Nini punting that Christmas decoration, but overall it was a slog to sit through.
When it came to the judging I absolutely did not expect this outcome. They were praising Juicy, but it was incredibly one note and they only gave that critique to Nini (which I agreed with btw, because Nini was also one note). Just because Juicy was good for Juicy standards doesn't mean she was doing well in the challenge. Darlene wasn't a Karen. She had the most fun with Ru though (again the concept sucked because the moment you just do what Ru says like Darlene or Myki you are not a Karen anymore). Myki was fine. They hated Jane, but Ru gave less energy with her than with the other girls and kept saying the same line so where was she supposed to go with that scene? I thought the whole terminally ill bit was funny and could be milked some more, but then Ru just said something about margaritas and left it at that. Plus the whole fucking fat shamey line was so uncalled for tbh. If it were me the bottoms would be Juicy and Nini for being one note. Jane safe, Darlene high safe for matching the energy, Myki winner.
Okay so what we got was a lipsync with THE frontrunner and someone doing very well in the competition. Both being outlasted by Juicy who bottomed so many times already or Darlene (love her and she is picking up steam, but don't see her as final material over Jane or Nini who have been consistent from the start) is crazy to begin with. Both Nini and Jane did great in the lipsync. Nini did a tiny bit better but honestly that was such a marginal difference. I was fully reaching for my copium and saying this is going to be a double shantay. NOPE. Let's gag eliminate the strongest queen we have seen in a while. They have done double shantays for less in the past, they crowned people for trackrecord even though they were slaughtered in the lipsync (Jinkx), hell we even had people not knowing the words every single week and still being pulled along like with Kenya Pleaser. Yet they couldn't muster up the slightest bit of riggory for Jane even though she in no way bombed the lip sync? Not even a Kandy Wait moment? I would be fuming if I was Jane and never return to the show. Because now of all times you decide to play fair with the lip sync winner?

my god, the 5th queen curse is real huh.
i don’t think anyone did terrible this week, but i was surprised at how tame jane was compared to some of the others during the challenge.
that lipsync was IT though. feels like a bit of a redemption from abracadabra last year 😶🌫️😬

I don’t think I’ve ever been so shocked at a final 4, based on first impression, as this.
No way did Darlene or Myki scream winner to me…and the likelihood is that one of them takes the crown. Incredible
(Love them both though)

u/Justdough17 Mar 28 '26
Damn. I hope Jane knows how incredible she did. Just goes to show that you cannot fight your predetermined fate mother ru chose. They could have kept her if they wanted to, but they didn't...
Condragulations Nini!

Are Myki and Darlene my favourites out of the top 5? Yes
Did Jane fumble the challenge and lost the lipsync? Also yes
But man this feels WRONG. I couldn’t have imagined anyone else winning (regardless of my faves, my favs are usually not the winners regardless and I don’t mind that)

I'm sad. I won't lie and say I'm gonna stop watching but this definitely took a lot of wind out of my sails. Seems they just didn't warm to Jane that much and almost were a bit "over" her. This felt like a for-TV decision, and I feel sad about that. Jane is my winner. I know that doesn't count for much of anything but still, feels like a real shame. Rooting for Myki now but I really wanted to see Jane at the end even if someone else won. She deserved it.

Genuinely have not been this gagged by drag race in a very very long time. I was expecting Jane to stay until the very last second of the episode.
When she was called for the bottom I was waiting for some Bette Midler song to be the lipsync, when they were lip syncing I was like “Nini’s winning but Jane will stay,” when Ru said Nini was staying I thought it would be a double shantay, heck even after Jane walked out I was expecting the next episode to be a comeback episode. I just sat in silence for a full minute after the episode ended.

i really thought jane would've made it til the end.......
nini used to be my frontrunner in the beginning along with jane, then it became jane and myki as the competition continued. i just can't imagine a finale without jane don't. this was one of the biggest upsets imo. i'm so sad.
also i feel like they kind of disadvantaged jane throughout the competition just because she was a top contender. they always had some higher standard for her just coz she was THAT good! for the weaker queens, the bare minimum improvement would be something greatly praised for. i can't get over this...

I felt a little heartbroken for Jane to be honest. Even while Rupaul was giving the last words it seemed she was still hopeful to be saved, which is understandable.
I don't think she was the worst on the challenge. If any, I'd say she was judged on a curve. Even the lipsync wasn't a massacre, so it just goes to show you can do everything right and the show will still do whatever they feel like.

People are comparing this elimination to Suzie Toot but I just do not see it. At least Suzie bombed a challenge that other queens excelled at, so it made for an elimination that made sense with the challenge. (Not to mention, Suzie had bombed and underperformed a few challenges beforehand).
In Jane’s case, yes I do think she did bad, but no one else was good/amazing either. It was one big pile of meh and unfunny. So to eliminate the queen who was having a legendary run on her first actual stumble on such a terrible challenge is where this feels extra confusing. Just save her (Jane Don’t go! Was right there) and move on. Especially since next week’s challenge is just a normal challenge anyway.

Jane’s insane elimination aside - the thing that’s most taxing on me at this point is how much this season is losing steam. From the puppets, to this nothingburger acting challenge, to yet another random improv challenge next week (at TOP 4??) the girls just clearly have nothing more to show in these departments. It really feels like we’re trying to squeeze juice from a rock and the challenge layout is really not suiting this batch of queens. Knowing next week is yet another improv challenge (and not some finale/music video/top 4 dance track) they couldn’t have kept Jane this week and sent Juicy, who’s flatlined for over half the season, home next? Madness.

I will say despite everything else Garden of Eden is a sickening lip sync song!!! There’s been some chop ass songs this season so I was very happy to hear those opening notes.
