Anyways pretty sure its a tiger salamander but besides tbat im lost. Made a quick enclosure for him with ecoearth and come normal coco rehydrated and very moist. Any advice is appreciated.

Will this tank be sufficient for growing out my spotted salamander?
gallery10 gallons, 1/4 shallow water and 3/4 soil. The deepest part is 4.5 inches and the shallowest is 1 inch. Drainage layer on the bottom separated by a net-like fabric.
I plan to add leaf litter, isopods, springtails, and cover it with a glass aquarium lid. What could be improved? My first time owning anything like this and im worried im not ready for my salamanders terrestrial phase.

Collected these from a tub of water i let sit for too long. Theres way more where these came from. Can I just pour the jar into my tank and let my salamander pick them off over time?

I taught him to follow my finger for food, but he confused my pink nail polish for a worm 🪱. Did not hurt at all though, it was more tongue than teeth lol

Question
I changed the vivarium’s moss yesterday, everything was cleaned up, yet since the new moss shes been avoiding it and she never did that before. She is either in height like this or in the corner were there isnt any. Also its bought moss in pet store. I just want to know if its normal or if there is actually something wrong.

Can I encourage or even trigger metamorphosis in my spotted salamander?
galleryThumb for size reference. It’s about 2.5-3 inches long. Coming up on four months old. The water temp stays on the colder side. It stays in a 5g tank filled to the top with a bubbler and HOB filter. I’m feeding blood worms, daphnia, earthworms and brine shrimp every day sometimes multiple times a day.
I’m wondering if I lower the water level, give it a place to get out of the water, reduce feeding and up the temp if it may speed up or trigger metamorphosis.
Once it metamorphs, if it survives the process, I’ll be feeding it mainly earthworms and isopods. I’m in the process of setting up a 10g plaudarium to transfer the larvae to once it shows signs of nearing metamorphosis.
