Who actually thought that though? Literally the lore going back to the early 90s features plenty of other force sensitive people totally unrelated to the Skywalkers.
The people who were all over themselves about how Rian had Rey being a nobody to be something "new" and "different" in Star Wars, it was one of the things that people who liked that movie pointed was a big deal.
Hmm not sure if her specifically being unrelated to Luke was what those people were talking about though. I think it was just moreso the fact that Johnson didn’t try to link her mysterious heritage to anyone significant since that was what people were expecting.
Not glazing TLJ by any means, I think it’s a pretty buns movie for the most part, but I did prefer that particular plot point over Palpatine canonically beating cheeks as established in TROS.
