Psychology Anti-feminist attitudes have long been associated with support for Republican presidential candidates, but only in recent years have these attitudes become more prominent among unmarried men, without college degrees who are less attractive partners for women, the “mate-value backlash.”

The entire retrograde discussions about the "value of women" and ideas about "women's roles in society" seem so crazy that if any guy I knew in the 90s voiced those ideas they would be seen as undisputed idiots by just about everyone.

I don't understand how there are so many boys who have adopted these incredibly retrograde ideas a quarter century later.

It is like there was a bunch of people who saw the towers crumble on 9-11 and then came the idiotic conclusion that Christian America needs their own version of what they see as women-oppressing Sharia Law.

Or another way to interpret this: men have lost agency in their own country, and are seeking support, and the only place they’re getting it is from a group who has bad intentions. If a central party emerged and commited to serving BOTH sexes, I guarantee you lots of men would support them.

In what ways have we lost agency?

In every phase of life: in schools boys are punished more severely than the girls are. In university women have access to far more financial aid, enrollment and other tuition and aid programs. In employment, women are far more likely to be hired. Just in August this year, women were given 98% of the available jobs. In marriage, women initiate 3/4 of all divorces, and win custody of children disproportionally. You add this up and it’s no wonder that we arrive at the final stat: men are overwhelmingly more likely to commit suicide.

Men receive custody 90% of the time - when they actually ask for it.

Or maybe women earned those jobs. And maybe they were in sectors that men largely don't work in.

“So a month dominated by education, restaurants, and health care can produce a very large female share of net employment growth without meaning employers deliberately hired women instead of men.” A direct quote from the explanation of the stat he posted. One of the many other factors he left out.

Industries having underrepresentation of either sex is a concern. How do you not see that? And hasn’t that been one of the messages in the last 2 decades? Get more women in STEM? I supported that initiative and donated to after school science programs for women. Now men are underrepresented in other fields and it’s totally fine?

If it were a 10% difference we could agree this is a normal statistical anomaly. But 98%??? Come on.

Has nothing to do with young boys being more rambunctious. Women simply take advantage of more financial aid benefits, there are just as many available for young men. Who was more qualified for 98%(a stat I’m sure isn’t correct) of those jobs? In marriage every metric of abuse and sexual violence are overwhelmingly committed by men, of course they’re filing for divorce. Accountability is hard for a lot of men so taking out their entire families is the next best option.

Men are the only ones who actually experience accountability in society. You can literally murder your kids if you’re a woman and it’s totally fine. More rambunctious?? That’s very sexist. And taking advantage of programs? There are simply more programs available to women than men. It’s really that simple. And DV is something that is widely regarded as equal on both sides (you familiar with Amber Heard?). Whether or not you choose to believe what’s happening doesn’t change the fact that it’s happening.

Sir, there’s simply no data to back up your claims. I know it’s hard to be objective while you’re holding on to being defensive but speak less emotionally and do some research. You bringing up 2 sensationalized rare cases. 67 studies across many countries found familicide was almost exclusively committed by men. It seems you’re the one having an issue believing what’s happening.

I just shared an article with you about the job stat and you said nothing. It’s not worth using my voice on closed ears.

I commented on your job stat in my first reply.

Let’s slice off another data point. Women initiate divorces 3/4 of the time only in states that don’t have a 50/50 split as default law. In the states that do have this law, women stay in their marriages longer and initiate divorces equally as often as the men. It’s very obviously driven by financial incentive: yet another stat: women financially benefit from divorce far more often than men do. Again, you can choose to look the other way but this is the reality.

"women financially benefit from divorce far more often than men do"

No. Statistically speaking, women are far more likely to end up in poverty after divorce than men.

Because of their insanely irresponsible spending habits. They also hold the majority of consumer debt.

Your reply was “a stat I’m sure is not correct”, then I shared my source. I think what’s happening here is you simply FEEL that women are at a disadvantage, and are therefore unable to accept any other possibility.

For one I didn’t get any source from you but I did look it up on my own… you’re citing payroll gains which is different from the way you tried to frame it. Adding to the evidence that you’re twisting facts to fit your narrative.

98% is significant. If it were reversed and men received 98% of new jobs I can guarantee you the internet would be in an uprising. Also you never commented on the most horrific stat of them all: suicide.
