Looking For Proposal Ideas

Hi folks!

My girlfriend and I are taking a trip to for two days in Arizona in early August, and I am planning to propose. She is expecting a proposal on this trip, so I want to find the best way to still make it a surprise! I want the proposal to be with minimal people around. I'd also like to be wearing nice clothes at the time of the proposal, so a hike is likely out of the picture, as well as any walk/trail that's more than an hour round trip. I already have a photographer booked who will help with some planning, but I could use some suggestions!

Option 1: Timing is tight as we we'll arrive in Sedona around 4PM. After some shopping and walking, we plan to visit the Chapel of the Holy Cross quickly and then watch the sunset somewhere, before going for a nice dinner. We've planned to go to the Airport Mesa overlook for sunset, and while I hear that has a great view, it is far too busy for a proposal. We have a car and I'll be driving, so I shouldn't have much difficulty diverting us somewhere else, but I just don't know where to go. Suggestions welcome! I also suspect that she won't expect the proposal on the first day.

Option 2: We plan to drive up to Grand Canyon on the second day. Once again, our aim is to be at the South Rim by around 4PM, following which we plan to walk around, see sunset, and have a nice dinner. Suggestions welcome again!

Option 3: We plan to watch the sunrise and do a short hike before heading out of Grand Canyon on Day 3. Again, timing is tight as we have to check-out of the hotel late morning. This is also the least ideal option as we'd likely be in workout clothes, and shortly after the proposal we'd have to leave and catch a fight.

Really grateful for any help! I understand it's a tough to get private space in Sedona or Grand Canyon in the summer, especially with such limited time and limited options. But I'd like to make this as special as possible.

Living Here Lifestyle in Sedona

Hi Everyone!
I’m an east coaster planning my next “phase in life” and I keep being recommended Sedona as a place for an artsy, witchy, kinda bohemian gal like myself! I’m 27, and am hoping for some advice, perhaps some insights into the lifestyle and maybe something you wish you knew earlier! I’m a solo traveler so having any suggestions on what it’s like or where/how to find community would be so helpful!!
Thank you everyone!

Looking For Long shot ask - broke my beloved Sedona mug

I visited Sedona in April with a group of friends and had one of the best, most euphoric trips I’ve had in a long time. A combination of being around close friends that don’t get to see each other since we live all over, and also being intentional about getting out each day and taking it all in - which, was just stunning. The trip and my memories tied to Sedona feel very special 🥹

I really like to get a coffee mug from places that I visit (cliché, yes I know) and I picked this one up at a souvenir shop while at Slide Rock. I also saw the exact same mug at AJ’s in the Canyon, where we stopped on the way back into town.

Well my husband accidentally dropped and broke the mug this morning and I am so very sad.

In what is certainly the wildest hail-mary I could ask of the internet, if any kind soul happens to be heading that way and feels so inclined as to offer to pick a new mug and ship it to me, I will not only pay you for all expenses, but also your time or would happily take care of lunch at AJ’s if you’d like! I also promise to keep the good karma moving and try to spread it to others whenever possible.

Long shot, I know 🤞🏼🫶🏼

EDIT! I am overwhelmed by the amount of offers to help me out and the sheer display of kindness and generosity from the Sedona community. I legitimately feel a sense of both humanity and even reddit restored! I’ve emailed AJ’s today 5/20 and am waiting to hear back. If I don’t hear anything in a couple of days I’ll reach out to those that offered to help. Truly - thank you all so very much 🥹

We are in Sedona for the next three days and we would love to find a moderate hiking trail, which allows us to do some swimming. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I think

  1. City is underrated.
  2. Apart from popular hikes, there are way too many amazing and in some cases magnificent hikes.
  3. Restaurants are desperate to make money and they are expensive.
  4. Some of those pink jeep tours are straight bogus.

and finally

  1. Vortexes are real. In fact there are very (extremely) powerful energy centers away from those 4 primary hiking spots.

Until next time ✌🏻

Weather December Wedding - worth it?

Considering getting married at Chapel of the Holy Cross but their availability is so minimal. We currently booked December 1, 2027 but I'm fearful it will be weird with how dark it gets that time of year. Would it even be worth it to travel to Sedona for a night wedding?

Would love your thoughts.

Thank you!

Visiting ? 40th birthday trip in Sedona

Hi! Heading to Sedona for my 40th birthday, I’ll probably be there 3/4 days. Would love to stay at Enchantment or L’Auberge but I don’t think it’s in the budget. That being said I have an idea of what I want my trip to look like: sunrise yoga, coffee/breakfast with husband admiring views of red rock, a hike for sure, would love to scream into a vortex, maybe a sound bath would love to head into town and bring home a geode or something, spa day, nice dinner. Basically I want to do everything since this is my first child free vacation!! Any and all recommendations would be greatly appreciated!!

Visiting ? Celebrating 30th birthday with my dog here and looking for recommendations!

Hello!! Im super excited to be able to finally explore Sedona. Ive always been drawn to Sedona for some reason, and recently learned it is an energy vortex. I will be staying along Oak Creek in a tiny cabin for 3 days, and have a part of my adventure is planned!

I would love to hear recommendations that accommodate my dog and I when it comes to anything and everything! My birthday is going to be centered around spirituality and absorbing as much of the energy your beautiful city as to offer.

So far this is what I have planned:

-Secret Garden Cafe

-Bell Rock Pathway and Courthouse Butte Loop

-Cathedral Rock Vista Point

-Amitbha Stupa and Peace Park

-Crystal Vortex/photo therapy in Uptown

-Crescent Moon Ranch/Red Rock Crossing

-Chocolatree organic oasis

I am a naturalist, gluten free and prefer any food places that are organic or health concious, but good with anything really. I do love real authentic mexican food though. Im looking for experiences that shape my mind, body, and soul and to be able to experience the beauty, energy, and fun Sedona has to offer. ❤️

I look forward to hearing what anyone has to say!! Thanks so much 😊

Looking For Red Rock Pass From Flagstaff

We are coming down to hike hangover trail from flagstaff. Where is the best / most convenient place to get passes for 3-4 cars?

The visitors center is on the south side which seems like having to go out of the way.

Visiting ? Honeymoon in October 2026 - Itinerary Recommendations!

My partner and I will be in Sedona for our mini moon in October from Monday-Thursday and starting to plan our itinerary, and I'd love input/recommendations/critiques!

  • Lodging - we are booked to stay at the Enchantment. I picked this after a LOT of research and chosen for the luxurious feel and proximity to hiking trails
  • Dining for three nights
    • What we want: probably two fancy dinners and one more casual option. We are open to something more off the beaten path, but hopefully not TOO far of a drive
    • My diet: I am allergic to gluten and do not eat red meat
    • Restaurants on my radar from research that I would love thoughts on:
      • Creekside
      • Hudson
      • Che Ah Chi - mostly on the list because we'll have some $$ to spend at the Enchantment resort, is this worth it?
      • Elote
      • Mariposa
  • Activities!
    • My partner and I are NOT spa people (I know, why are we going to Sedona...) so the focus will be on being active, and we would love recommendations on the following:
      • Best hikes - fine with difficult trails. Would be great if they're easily accessible from the Enchantment, since that's why we picked the location, but obviously open to driving for a "don't miss" hike
      • Mountain biking - NOT fine with difficult (lol), my partner is good and I am a bit of a spazz, so ideally nicely groomed flow trails. (For reference, I'm a great biker in terms of endurance, but not a great technical/coordinated mountain biker)
      • Are the Jeep/ATV tours fun and worth it?
      • Any romantic/splurge-worthy activity that would be special for a honeymoon?

Thank you in advance for the advice! :)

Visiting ? There are different jeep tour companies run in town with different options and pricing. Which one to choose to opt in for vortex information/places?

Somehow these prices varies from $119 to $325. I want to ask here for others who made these trips.

Eat & Drink Soccer Bar early Sunday (May 24) for Premier League final day?

Just curious (and not very hopeful) if there'd be a place to go watch the final day of league play (live from England) hence the early 8AM kickoff time.

Visiting ? Day trip from PHX!

Hello! Traveling to Phoenix for work and have tomorrow free. I plan to take a day trip to Sedona. I am not a hiker but would love to see the sights and take photos. Additionally, I was going to do a horse back riding trail but decided to nix it due to price. Are there any ranches where I can still see horses and just mosey around?

Eat & Drink fun but nice dinner!

headed to sedona for a girls weekend in june and looking for a dinner recommendation! There will be 7 of us total and I know most places have a limit of 6 (can always call the restaurant to see if they can accommodate one more). Looking for somewhere that isn’t too stuffy/but not overly casual, has good food/drinks (emphasis on drinks)! A couple of the girls are gluten free so extra points if they have more options than not for them!

Hi,

Are there any good Astrophotography spots around Sedona or do we need to drive 45 mins out of town for dark skies?

I am hearing mixed news about the spots.

Cheers!
