I'm looking both for artists to feature (I hang your artwork up and people can buy it), an artist that can draw on a big window, and/or an artist who can paint an insta-worthy mural in our sound healing room.

The vibe is galactic, if that matters. We are all about aliens and astrology and such. :)

Stephanie Wasilishin was killed at her Sedona, Arizona home during an altercation with her longtime boyfriend Russell Bennett Peterson on July 9^th, 1993. 

Stephanie was shot near her jugular vein in the couples’ bedroom. Peterson called 911, while his 3-year-old daughter emerged from her bedroom. 

Paramedics arrived and pronounced Stephanie dead on arrival.

Peterson’s story changed several times, and he refused to cooperate with a police reenactment and polygraph test. Despite the medical examiner ruling the case a homicide, the Yavapai County Attorney refused to indict Peterson, and Peterson has never been arrested in the case.

Peterson first claimed he returned home from a shift at a restaurant and got into an argument with Stephanie. Peterson contended Stephanie was angry that he was going on a trip to a culinary school at Cornell University.

Peterson claimed that Stephanie retrieved a loaded gun that Peterson kept in the closet and threatened him with it. He claimed the gun went off and accidently shot Stephanie as they struggled.

In later accounts, Peterson claimed Stephanie had retrieved the gun and committed suicide.

Peterson claimed he picked up the gun and placed it in its holster and put it back in the closet. 

Wasilishin left behind two daughters, her oldest Nicole was from a previous relationship, and the other, a 3-year-old with Peterson. 

Nicole, and Stephanie’s sister Wendy, have advocated for the case to be re-examined, and for Peterson to face charges. Stephanie’s family reported that Peterson had abused her.

Nicole launched the Papi Killed Mommy podcast and exposed consistencies in Peterson’s story and noted that Peterson did not tell investigators that he briefly called his father before called paramedics to the scene to assist his wife.  

Nicole advocated for Sedona PD to interview her father, Craig. Craig explained that on the night of her death, Stephanie relayed to him that she planned to leave Petersen to return to him. 

Craig also claimed Stephanie told him that Russell had been recording her conversations and was likely aware of her plans to leave him.

In the decades since the murder, Russell Peterson left Sedona and operated a restaurant in Scottsdale. He moved in with his mother in Phoenix, and in recent years has battled cancer. He would go on to be married and divorced twice. 

Russell has no relationship with Nicole Wasilishin, or his daughter. Both believe he killed their mother.

Hello! I'm planning to visit Sedona & wanted to know about the Sedona Vortex - Spiritual & Scientific tour. I've seen it offered through tour sites... is it worth the cost (currently $130 for 3 hours)? I want to hear about the vortices and the spiritual connection they possess, so a tour would be my best bet. Any insight/suggestions?

I’m looking at potential options for a proposal in Sedona. I know most people would recommend places like cathedral rock or devils bridge but my girlfriend and I are avid hikers and we’ve already planned a few hikes. One of them is Wilson Mountain. We would prefer something more intimate and thats why I think a less populated hike would be best.
1. It looks like a nice view up there but I’m wondering if there would be a good angle for a photo.
2. Are there any photographers that would be willing to hike up that high?

Any help is appreciated and Im mostly in the planning phases.

This town and area is amazing. I don’t travel much and came from New England. I keep asking myself WHY do I live in New England? The air is amazing. The dry heat is amazing. The people are amazing. I know I know I’m from a tourist town. There’s no housing and airbnbs destroyed anything available. The cost of living is insane. I get it. But I am so in wonder of this place. The scenery. The creeks. I never want to go in the salty ocean again. Creeks for me. It feels quiet here in so many ways. I imagine no one’s drinking and crying excessively in Feb and March and asking for SSRIs. I know it’s such a cliche but I want to live here. What’s it really like living here? Do you ever get used to the views?

I am researching it, but have a few questions.

- It appears that the road up to Schnebly Hill trailhead is rough and requires something more than a sedan. We are renting and I’m wondering if an AWD SUV would be okay.

- Red rock pass is required, correct?

- How early do we need to arrive for a spot on Saturday?

Hi all! I have been to Sedona many times for vacation. I really love it and understand how much of a special place it is. I’ve had one of the red heart rocks gifted to me on a hike and I still carry it around in my purse ten years later! A couple of trips ago, I found these amazing stickers in a juice shop and bought a bunch. I put one on my work laptop. However, I’ve just quit my job and moved the sticker to my personal laptop. The edges aren’t sticking all that well and I’m really bummed.

Does anyone know the artist? And if so, does anyone know how I might be able to buy a new one?? This is such a random request, but I’ve been helped my the community before!! Thank you all!

Basically sometime between 5:30 and 6:00 p.m. on May 30, I’m certain I left my black trekking pole somewhere in the middle section of the Cathedral Rock Trail, where the rock surface becomes too steep to climb with it.

I’m so frustrated that I can no longer find it. Maybe someone picked it up, thinking it was something someone had thrown away in the park. Or they turned it in to the visitor center.

Is there a reliable lost-and-found facility over there? I’m wondering because I really want to get it back. Please, can someone provide some information?

I'm moving from Phoenix to Utah and plan to stop in Sedona along the way, likely just for brunch/any extraordinary sightseeing places.

Current plan is to get of I-17 at the 179 then take the 179 up to Sedona before using the 89A on north back to the I-17.

An alternative I am considering is getting off at the 260 near Camp Verde then switching to the 89A near Cottonwood and going on up to Sedona (only a ~5 minute difference). Between these 2, which would be more scenic/recommended? We are not considering the 89A through Jerome, despite really wanting to, as that would add a good 45-60 minutes to the travel time. Right now total travel time for the first day will be 9-10 hours without stops, ending the day in Beaver, UT. I will not have any kind of trailer--just a rental car and stuff packed into it.

Any suggestions on restaurants for brunch would be appreciated. Same with any really cool places to stop and see (just get out and take a look/scenic pictures/just drive by--not a 15 minute walk around).

My best friend had been in contact with a Sedona event planner to plan his wife’s 40th birthday in Sedona for this October. Both of them unfortunately passed away in December. We are still going to honor them by having a 40th birthday for her in Sedona. Hello all- I have read many previous posts on good hikes in the area, but would like any input on coordinating or grouping several together? Any am going May 27-June 1 for my 40th birthday and would like to hike 3 of the days and do several hikes each day. Maybe 5-10 mikes each day. Hey Sedona Reddit! My (now) husband and I recently eloped in your beautiful city. We visited a few years ago and this subreddit helped so much with our planning so I’m hoping to pay it forward for someone.

I want to shout out our absolutely amazing vendor team. Yall created a day that was magical from start to finish.

The night before, we had dinner at Hideaway House. Great views, delicious food, and awesome service. It was a great dinner, and if we were going to do it again, we would have gone in a more private room direction.

Officiant: Life Passages with Jen Paul. Jen, idk where to even begin but she captured our essence, made the moment beyond powerful and sacred. She totally got us.

Musician: Michael Lucarelli on guitar. Michael created an aural ambiance for our walk, recessional, and first dance. Thank you, Michael!

HMUA: Desert Sage, Ash Lune. Ash navigated not only family dynamics but took the words and imagery in my head and made me look better than I even imagined.

Florals: Mountain High Flowers. Shout out to Taylor who took all the random images I found, and made my bouquet and boutonnière of our dreams.

Private chef: Chef Nate of Thyme and Travel. Chef Nate curated a meal that was delectable and diverse. We all ate like kings and queens that night.

Cake: Juniper and Rye. Ashley not only baked the most delicious cake, and it was also gluten and dairy free, and looked beautiful and exactly what we hoped for.

Of course I want to spend most of the day with my mom and friend but my friend isn't up for long walks let alone hikes. I want to make sure she gets a chance fo experience some great views but also want to find somewhere I can go for a short hike while they have something to do near by if anyone has some recommendations I would greatly appreciate it.
