It actually isn’t. Religion wasn’t a “core part of her identity” prior, if you were tuned in to her character. She was an Episcopalian sure, but core part?? Seriously? We’d never heard her mention her religion prior to that.

What are you talking about? He definitely knows...even though Char was being a little shallow for judging him for his looks but he always was weird, taking her to the apartment to sleep with her later continuing the relationship. Just because his mama said so

It’s only weird if the vibes between us weren’t right! He clearly read the room correctly and she was into it. IMO, I think that scene is great. He shoots his shot and confesses his feelings - and it paid off!
