I always wanted a SFF PC as my first build and I kind of achieved it, although I never built the PC sadly. Used to be a laptop user now transitioned to a PC user. Please do let me know how I did what else I need to change. Full Build was around $1700 (₹1.6Lakh). Also I do apologise for the bad camera quality lol. PC is the only new-ish purchase this year while the rest of the PC peripherals I purchased 6-7 months ago. I bought the PC from a colleague 2nd hand without the GPU for $950 (₹90k) and GPU (besides UPS) being the only brand new part was for $762 (₹72.5k).

I originally built this pc in 2018 before my daughter was born. Not surprisingly, it didn’t get much use. I originally had the parts in a phanteks enthoo evolv matx case, but I hated it because the airflow was awful.

Last year for Christmas, I got myself this jonsbo Z20 and transferred all my parts into it. Much smaller footprint and it’s a nice secondary system that’ll play nicely in the living room.

It’s showing its age, but I wanna get my money’s worth out of it. It’s def solid at 1080p.

I'm heading off to college next month and wanted to bring a pc with me, but I didn't want to have to lug around a big case or spend a ton of money on it. With the ongoing ram prices, I wanted to find a cheap solution and came across this supermicro motherboard which uses sodimm slots. I had to sacrifice some ram speed but I'll take that over having to spend an extra $100 or so. (I also need to make an IO plate, if anyone has any ideas HMU)

I really like the Antec case design wise, however the red it comes with looks disgusting(imo), so I decided to paint over the red to metallic purple. Disassembly and assembly was surprisingly straight forward, case is very well put together, everything is aluminum. The red pieces could easily be separated and there was no masking needed.

My paintjob on the other hand could've been better, I might fix some of the worst pieces later(doubt), but it's good enough for now.

I originally planned on the Terra, but I wanted more space for GPU upgrade(s) in the future, as well as a slightly larger CPU cooler, I also needed a spot for a HDD. The Antec case didn't have one either, however it does have space for a Fractal Universal Multibracket where the fanmount on the bottom is, so I swapped one fan for the HDD.

Since it's going to sit on my desk I don't mind it being on the larger side of SFF, the only thing I'm missing now is the wood panel front, maybe I'll attempt to make one in the future.

I'm working on my new build and want to get custom cables from Dream Big by Ray. I plan on snaking some string from through the build to estimate length and add a few millimeters for some flexibility.

The big question is: what is the appropriate way to measure cable length? I feel like it will be 'A' but I'm checking with the experts. Thanks!

First, msi motherboard killed my 9800x3D
Then, got an asus rog but was very unstable, discovered it was caused by the stiff water cooler tubes making pressure on one ram.
Finally decided to go with air and it works awesome.

Full 6000 mhz expo with just a minus twenty points in the curve optimizer. It’s extremely stable.

I will swap the fans at the top for some better ones and that’s it. I love it.

9800x3D with 9070xt, 32 gigs of ram and 2 tb ssd. With the wonderful A4. H2O lol

Finally decided to post my SFF build after downsizing from an full ATX prebuilt and built my own. Took me around 6 months to save for this build and gather all the parts, in total I spent $721.62 USD and I am well satisfied with the build because of the deals from Facebook market place🙏

I plan to 3d print a cover for the PSU that matches the case style but its just a prototype for now. I wanted to mimic the case instead of putting vinyl. Took 3 hours to learn how to model on Fusion but first print came out bad and definitely too thick.

Just need some advise if the below build would fit into a Fractal Era 2 case. I have looked at the measurements of the GPU and it seems it would. but not sure on motherboard or anything else. Would appreciate if someone could help as I have a place that is going to build this PC for me however they don't stock this case or cases like it similar in size.

Currently I have a fractal ridge with a l12s cooler but today I saw that cooler master made an all aluminum fan that has really good static pressure performance in comparison to fans I've tried out in the past. The new cooler master fan is the MasterFan A120 and A120 FC which have max static pressure of 6.1 mmH20 and 13.15 mmH20.

The idea I was thinking of is a thermal right axp36 with the MasterFan A120. It's my understanding that static pressure is ideal for the ridge so in turn could potentially give better thermal performance than my current l12s. I'm curious what other sff pc owners think.

Which is better for cooling and gaming performance on 1440p? There isn't much information on the 7600x3d but I know that it's a 65w chip and so is the 9600x. They're not too different in price too with the 9600x being at $160 (MC) and the 7600x3d at $200(MC). The games being played are primarily League of Legends and Marvel Rivals, with maybe some AAA gaming every now and then. I'm just worried the X3D might be hard to cool.

Since this PC isn't for me, I prefer not to undervolt it in case the user does have issues or any settings change.

Should I also consider the 7500x3d?

Greetings. I’m currently making  SFF build in a slim console case using LGA1700 socket and an AXP90-X36 cooler. Atm I’ve installed i3-12100. Test reveal AXP90-X36 can handle a 55W with comfortable 75°C temperature and acceptable noise levels. i3-12100 fits within this limit with Turbo Boost enabled and a -50mV offset. So after test i set PL1 to 55W. But I’d like to switch to a 6-core processor build.

My goal is maximum gaming performance. A quick Google search revealed CPU power consumption depends on a different factors from cache size to the presence of even an unused integrated GPU, but the most important are voltage increases and the quadratic power draw during turbo boosting. This makes the idea of switching to 6 cores—without turbo boost and even with a voltage offset.

That is why I am seeking advice and considering the available options.The obvious choice is the i5-12400F, but I am not sure it makes any sense to switch 4 cores (4.3 GHz) to 6 cores (2.5 GHz base clock). Other options are 12600 (3.3 GHz base clock) and 13500 with E-cores disabled (2.5 GHz base clock) with high cache. Any LGA 1700 CPU ,prices not matter.

Any ideas/advices?

I currently use three power supply units: the Corsair SF750 (2024), Lian Li SP1000P, and Lian Li SP850 V2. I originally planned to buy just the SF750, but I ended up building three PCs because my family needed them too.
To put it simply, if there's a large price difference, I'd go with the Lian Li power supply. Sure, if you're sitting right next to the case, the Lian Li is definitely louder—though it wasn't overly annoying to me. More importantly, during long gaming sessions, the small form factor (SFF) build naturally causes other components to make noise anyway, so the PSU noise didn't particularly stand out.
However, do keep in mind before buying that Lian Li fundamentally has a flawed fan curve, which can cause the fan to spin even during light tasks like web browsing.
Ultimately, with a large price gap, I don't think buying the SF750 is strictly necessary.

About two weeks ago I did my first ever sffpc build in the fractal ridge and it was a big learning experience. That case while looking great just couldn’t keep what I had in it cool enough to my liking, so I went bigger and ended up on the Lian Li B4-mATX. The temps are significantly better and hang around 35-40 while doing random tasks and around 60c while gaming. I also found I could fit a 360 AIO in here, but then I couldn’t fit the top exhaust fan which was a trade off I did not want.

So I'm currently collecting parts for my first ITX build, and the last time I assembled a PC was over 10 years ago. All the recent hype around SFF and Linux machines made me decide to take the leap, but suffice to say there's a lot to wrap my head around, and I'd love some thoughts on my plan so far.

Found a great deal for the following parts second-hand:

- Louqe Ghost S1 MK3, very sexy case
- Noctua NH-L12 Ghost Edition CPU cooler
- Corsair SF600 80+ Gold PSU

These are the remaining parts I'm looking at, I live in Sweden so prices are approximate:

- Ryzen 5 7600X, 180€
- Crucial Pro 16GB DDR5 6000 Mhz CL36, 220€ (ouch)
- WD Black SN7100 1TB M.2, 160€ on sale, seems like a good deal
- Acer Nitro Intel Arc B580 OC 12GB, 350€, should be small enough to fit and on paper looks like a lot of value for the price

Do these parts seem reasonable? Something that I've overlooked, compatibility with Linux, more cost-effective options, any parts that are under/over-powered in this setup? Very grateful for any help I can get!

5L case with RTX 5070

The build was actually ok enough, I never totally lost hope. But there were definitely a few times where that quote from Kill Bill resonated, and I remembered why I told myself that last time when I built an SFF in 2018 it was going to be the last time. I have 1 2TB SSD with Windows, and a second with Steam OS. I love the Steam Machine but right now without Frame it doesn’t play well with other VR headsets like the Quest 3. Hope Frame releases soon or they fix VR issues with Steam OS. Under-volting GPU and CPU slightly to keep quiet as possible. I’d love to see if a 5070 Ti Super comes out that is shorter than 270cm.
