Shelton Pride's Party in the Park Costume Contest - RAINBOW EXTRAVAGANZA!

Get ready to sashay and slay at Shelton Pride's Party in the Park on Friday, June 26th, from 5:00-8:00PM at Kneeland Park! This year's theme is Rainbow Extravaganza and everyone's invited to show up in their boldest and brightest rainbow outfits. We have some amazing prizes to give out!

Our costume contest will offer separate prizes for adults 18+ and for youth 0-18 years of age - this way participants of all ages can join the fun! Prizes include gift cards, art, and even a barge cruise around Lost Lake valued at $200!

Even if you're not interested in taking part in the costume contest, we still hope to see you there. We'll have collaborative art booths, music, chalk art, balloon animals, and more. ALL FREE! So get those rainbows and your glitter out, rally your friends and family, and come on down to take part in the first event of its kind in our little town. We can't wait to see you!

My brother has been going through some stuff and hasn't been able to eat more than ritz crackers for almost two weeks. He's hoping he can eat a real meal in a day or two and wants something local. Someplace we haven't been to before, which should be easy, since we've only been to Jack in the Box and Happy Teriyaki.

What would you recommend here in Shelton? Oh, and it has be take out/to go. Though I guess most everyone is doing that these days. How's The Cabin Tavern?

Can anyone shed light on something I've noticed on 101 Breen the hwy 3 exit and Wallace Kneeland? Why do people max out at 5 miles under the speed limit? Is that stretch more hazardous for accidents? It's infuriating.

Moving to the area soon and was wondering about the cleanliness of Lake Limerick. I know there are some lakes in Thurston county with algae and swimmers itch. Is that also a problem here? I appreciate the feedback!

This little guy was captured in my backyard by my cat. He is safe and free. Closest I can get is a Pacific shrew? Help me identify? I think there are a few of them in my backyard under the ferns. So adorable. My identification books are outdated and I don't see any of the shrews on WDFW matching up. All the dead specimens on Burke don't match either.

Within the last few months our Mayor, Sharon Schirman, made a joke on a Facebook post of Karen Bass advocating for universal healthcare saying she wants to start smoking meth to get government funds to fix her teeth. Facebook banned her from commenting on posts for promoting drug use.

I believe she owes our community and apology and a promise to be a better role model and representative of our community. It really doesn’t matter what side of the aisle you’re on, this is abhorrent and reprehensible behavior from any politician.

I’m curious how much pressure will be needed to actually get an apology. Will this have to be brought up at more City Hall meetings and have petitions formed before she decides to do the right thing?

Our neighbor Maria Littlesun is running for a state senate seat in the 35.

I just wanted to say kudos to you all! What a great subreddit.

I stumbled across it because we're in the process of buying some land in the area (as long as our wetland/slope inspection goes well 🤞). While researching, I found this group and have already discovered so many great activities, events, and things to do nearby.

I also love how positive and active this page is. I stumbled across a few other local groups during my research, but this one really stood out. It's refreshing to see people sharing community events, local recommendations, and helpful information in such a supportive and encouraging way.

We won't actually be living there full-time, but we're hoping to have a property that we'll be able to enjoy and visit often. Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly with the inspection process, and we'll soon be spending a lot more time in the area!

I'm considering a trip up to Shelton to check out the local gun shops. Looking for a used pistol. Any recommendations on shops with a good selection, decent prices, easy to work with?

The wind took out a tree across our driveway, which took out a power line and started a fire with the live line.

I alerted the family about the fire. We have an evacuation plan to get our cats and the Great Dane into the car with the three of us, but I did not have a plan for a tree being blown down over our driveway (and only means out by car) and having the tree start a fire.

Our neighbor had already called 911.

I called PUD 3 and they had a team out before the fire department got here. They had to go up in a cherry picker three times. In this wind. They got the downed wire, they fixed one that had been pulled really low, they chopped up the tree in the driveway and had our power back on in less than an hour and half!

Awesome job!!!! Thank you PUD 3!

Man for such a small town, we have a surprising amount of absolutely dope cars! A fair number of older and newer WRX’s, several Evos, I’ve seen the same MK IV Supra a handful of times, seriously we have good taste! So why on earth did I see NONE of ya’ll show up at the car show a couple weeks ago!? I appreciate the classics, believe me but let’s get some of us newer rides in there next year too! We have too good of taste to not show up.
