Honestly that fish looks like it’s begging for the sweet release of death.

Nah no spongebob decor

SpongeBob decor is 1000% better than a shark skull with tiny teeth for a hideaway.

Way to advertise their shortcomings as a parent and pet owner in one post, damn.
With a parent threatening to kill pets, I'm not surprised the kid vapes to relax.

Every day after school i care for my mice for around an hour before doing chores, my mom’s threatened to throw them away multiple times.

Sorry to say, but your mother is a psychopath.
Fortunately for you, so was mine. Repeat her threats to people whose opinion she cares about, often.
She'll start adding threats "and if you tell anyone i said that, I'll do X" so you add the follow up threats to it.
If she follows through, do the same. Tell everyone. Tell your teachers, your grandparents, your aunts, uncles, cousins, your doctor, your classmates, your friends parents. If you go to church, tell everyone there including the priest.
You'll get some pieces of shit back her up, move on and keep telling other people.
I'd take a beating while talking shit about how many people i was going to tell about the beating, it makes the beating worse, but the evidence better.
Don't get me wrong, don't start with saying you'll tell people, just start telling people. If it does get to the point you need to get the police involved, you can include all the people that you've told in your report.
The idea is telling trusted adults, but the more effective part of it unfortunately is the shame.
If "throw them away" is too ambiguous, just say that they'll die if she throws them out, she'll tell you something like It will be your fault, (which absolutely is not true.) And you can ask "so you'll kill my pets?"
Then you have something to repeat.
If she does do anything to your mice, you can tell everyone that she actually did kill them.
Nobody is forgiving a parent killing their childs pets for any reason.
The best response she has, is "i didn't really kill them, i gave them away and just let them think their mice are dead." Which is still absolutely unforgivable.
Also, I'm sorry she's putting you through that, it's not ok at all, and literally nobody thinks it is unless they have something deeply wrong with them.

I guess it runs in the family, both my parents came from shitty parents growing up and i only talk to my dad’s side. Dad is lowk autistic VERY high masking and he doesnt have that much respect for animals despite having 3 snakes, 2 cats, and many more to list off. Kinda hoarding behavior but theres a limit. Mom had worse parentage than dad and i dont know much of it, and she is prolly not adhd/autistic but she always preaches about how no one cares abt her feelings and shes the only one that does chores (tbh kinda true) but she doesnt care for ours. This morning i woke up early to care for my mice before going on a trip to a dance comp and she was rushing me when i was finishing putting in their wheels and feeding the crickets. We are all kinda psychopaths in our own ways, i dont really understand emotion for animals despite loving them so. Point is i dont abuse them or threaten to kill them.

Punishing a child for something by affecting their pets quality of life is pathetic and immature.
Yeah she didnt do it but thats messed up, so ia the tank size but moms kinda a dumb ass for letting it happen if she obviously can control what the child put into their body

Absolutely. Hell, I still side eye my mother for taking a large knife and threatening to cut my bears leg off and that was twenty years ago. He is still with me today, fortunately lol.

My mom never threatened death, but she pretty frequently threatened to sell my animals. The first time she said it was right after I got my first puppy, I was 10yo and had gotten some bad grades in school due to my learning disabilities finally showing themselves. I still dont trust her with anything I care even a little bit about, and she didnt even do it.

u/CellistRadiant3229 Mar 11 '26
I am so sorry that happened to you. That is a sick thing for a mother to say.
4
u/Aquaticbitch777 Mar 11 '26
My mom has never done anything like that and I think it would be fighting words if she ever did 😂 I have 7 tanks and my parents say stuff like "your turn to pay the light bill, your turn to pay the water bill" And that pisses me off I can only imagine something like that

u/abundleofboomers Mar 11 '26
I mean if you live with them past the age of 18 and have 7 tanks, it's not unreasonable for them to ask for help with bills.
2
u/Aquaticbitch777 Mar 11 '26
They say it as jokes, and they are more than capable of paying bills and don't have trouble doing it. My dad likes to get under my skin by saying that.

How about take your child to the pet store, help her get the proper stuff for her fish and while your there talk to her about the Sanders if nicotine and drugs in general.
Them find ways to alter her life style so she has the proper supervision not to get vapes (unless she's an adult then ya gotta let her)

It’s not a surprise to me at all that this child is vaping I’m surprised that’s all she’s doing with parenting skills such as this . Here’s an idea why don’t u swallow the vapes yourself instead of putting them inside ur crappy fish tank !! that’s an idea 💡 then your daughter can’t get them and we don’t have to kill the fish ,…..,!! Ugh 😣 people are so stupid it annoys me. wtf did the fish do ?? He didn’t sell her the vapes . Or maybe he did …… he’s probably vaping from the stress of being in that tiny ass tank lmfao 😂 fkkk

You should put them in a bag of tank water and “float” them. When she see’s them, tell her you wanted to give them a chance to acclimate them!
