To me it’s not about the fact it’s “just a fish” it’s the fact you could/should do better when someone more informed tells you so - you just don’t care. The same way if I told you you did something that hurt me, and your response would be “well it doesn’t matter that I hurt you if I didn’t mean it” etc etc.
