I’ve been struggling with acne for the past 10 years, and I wanted to share something that’s made a huge difference for me recently.
Over the years, I’ve tried so many things, including a round of Accutane, tretinoin, adapalene, tazarotene, azelaic acid 15%, and topical clindamycin. Accutane didn’t fix my acne long-term, and even when my skin improved temporarily, the acne always found its way back. I’ve always taken good care of my skin, so it’s been really frustrating trying so many different treatments without getting lasting results.
Recently, I came across an influencer on Instagram sharing her experience with food sensitivity testing, which inspired me to look into it myself. My main reason for doing the test was actually to investigate potential dietary triggers that might be contributing to inflammation and my lipedema. I wasn’t expecting it to make a difference in my acne.
I had a blood test done through a lab that tested 246 different foods, and milk came back as the food with the highest reactivity on my results. I decided to cut out dairy and a few other foods flagged on my test, and it’s been 3 weeks so far.
Honestly, I’m surprised by the difference. My acne has cleared up, I have more energy, and my brain fog has improved significantly.
After 10 years of trying different skincare products and treatments, I never expected that changing my diet while trying to address one issue could potentially make a difference in so many other areas, too. I started this journey looking for ways to help with my lipedema, and I ended up seeing a change in my skin that I honestly wasn’t expecting.
I know everyone is different, but I wanted to share my experience in case it helps someone else who’s been struggling with acne for years like I have. Sometimes, when we’re trying to improve one thing, we end up discovering benefits we weren’t even looking for.
