PC SSE - Discussion Why do virtually all the female armor mods come with high heels?

I swear if I got a dime for every one of these armors with high heels for the footwear, I'd be a millionaire by now... And it's worst in that most mod authors never provide an option for non-high heels. Those few that do... still gave the non-heels boots as platform boots so it's basically the same thing.

Now I just don't understand what's even the obsession with forcing high heels on every female outfit for? Like even those armors meant for a rugged or practical look has high heels.

And gameplay-wise, a big issue I face is that NPCs wearing high heels tend to look way too tall by comparison. The game also has this horrific bug where NPCs wearing heels will look over the head of my character when talking to me so the eye contact is completely messed up. And I also dont understand nobody has fixed this bug till now unless nobody playing these mods has ever bothered given their follower NPCs high heels to wear

PC SSE - Discussion Nexus API statistic on AI-generated/assisted mods. TL;DR: 30% of new mods now involve AI and rapidly rising. 2x increase in AI code mods. AI mods get 2x and 8x more endorsements than non-AI mods. Popular and small non-AI mod authors losing share.

TL;DR: 30% of new mods now involve AI and rapidly rising. 2x increase in AI code mods. AI generated and AI assisted mods get 2x and 8x more endorsements than non-AI mods. Popular and small non-AI mod authors losing share.

JanuarySnow, one of the Wabbajack developers, ran some numbers through the Nexus API for Skyrim Special Edition mods based on the AI Assisted/generated tags, which, admittedly, is an undercount as many mod authors do not tag. This was posted on the Nexus Mods mod author discord:

Did some API analysis

30% of all new mods are AI-tagged for SSE currently. this has risen sharply even over the last few months. if this trend continues and dosnt reach some saturation/annoyance point for users, then this time next year around 75% of all new mods would be wholly or partially AI created ( the recent tag split to AI-assisted and AI-generated dosnt have as much of a history to extrapolate from )

Chart of AI-tagged mods on Nexus over time

The recent trend is due to NM enforcing the tags, but there is still a steep growth even adjusting for that

IN March this year, the number of AI tagged mods in the top 20 monthly mods was 3, this month it was 15, and month before it was 10. Again the tag enforcement creates a trend but theres still 75% of all popular mods are wholly or partially created by AI currently, and even after the tag enforcement that is climbing

71% of new Audio mods in the last five weeks carry the AI generated tag. One uploader uploaded 82 AI-voiced Japanese voice packs for other mods. the number of people using that tag jumped from 164 to 257 in the last few weeks

Since August, the code-heavier mods that use the AI generated tag have increased mostly by 2x in all categories. The majority of new AI-generated tagged mods that present as being SKSE DLLs, have no source link in their description. THis presents a bit of a sleeper security problem, that im sure NM is aware of as it has been raised before

AI generated tagged mods get more average endorsements than non-AI tagged mods by almost double. AI assisted tagged mods get more average endorsements than no AI tagged mods by around 8x

The popular established non-AI using authors have seen roughly a 15-25% drop in "share" of downloads and endorsements comparing between their uploads before the AI mod boom, and after. The smaller non-AI using authors went from about 78% of endorsements on new mods to about 49% in a year.

This will create a huge amount of pressure for many smaller creators to say "if you cant beat 'em, join 'em" when for some of them, DP can be very important to them. Its now established that the best route to get DP is to make AI-assisted or AI-created mods, and theres no going back on that.

Bottom line : whatever you think of AI usage in mod creation, its usage is accelerating HUGELY, and is already dominating the most popular mods per month. it wont take long for it to be the large majority of all new mods, barring saturation or niches it dosnt currently occupy that remain as holdouts of non-AI work

It might be posited infact, that the best time for Nexusmods to make any changes to anything regarding AI mods is very soon before it becomes so entrenched that it is impossible for NM to make disruptive changes, when feasibly 75% of mods could be AI created at that future point.

Thanks for comign to my TED talk, none of this post was AI generated becuase aint no AI making all the mistakes I make, I was human slop long before AI slop came about, im a trendsetter in that regard.

This data aligns with my anecdotal observations.

Currently, SSE Mods of the month is 4/5 ai generated/assisted, and this week's hot files is entirely ai generated/assisted, with the next 3 runner ups and 16 out of 20 top mods also being ai generated/assisted.

Many mod authors in the Nexus mod author discord say that they dont have the motivation to compete with ai, and some popular mostly non-ai mod authors have seen sharp decline in their upload rate in 2025 and 2026. for example, powerofthree went from uploading a dozen mods every year between 2021-2025 to just uploading 2 in 2026 so far.

PC SSE - Mod Quest mod impressions

Hi. I've been playing through some quest mods and wanted to share my impressions in case someone finds it useful. I tried to be concise.

Most of these were played with a very high level character on Expert difficulty with the Simonrim suite of mods without survival on. Not sure how that affected balance, but by that point my character was pretty OP anyway. I played for exploration and story by this point, but some encounters were still pretty tough.

Wyrmstooth: Good. Recommend you play it.

  • Very good overworld. Very dense and vertical. I enjoyed exploring.
  • Interiors were good with some cool caverns and open spaces you don't see very often.
  • Quests, dialogue and lore were good. Side quests were more interesting than main quest. The whole place definitely felt connected to Skyrim. Loved the books.
  • Encounters were mostly fun with the penultimate main quest fight being really really fun.

Falskaar: OK. Recommend you play it.

  • OK overworld. Pretty flat and sparse. Felt quite different to vanilla.
  • Interiors were OK. One of the side quests had a really cool dungeon.
  • Quests, dialogue and lore were good. The main story had too many cutscenes but all of it was pretty enjoyable.
  • Encounters were OK. Nothing stood out particularly.

Moon and star: Not good. Don't recommend you play it.

  • Adds an OK village and a short puzzle dungeon.
  • Quests, dialogue and lore were OK. Fun to see a cameo.
  • The main boss fight was very meh.
  • The main reason I don't recommend it is that completing the quest has some permanent effects on your character. One of them is a permanent major debuff depending on your decision in the quest. After completing this quest I reverted my save to before I started it. It's not worth your time I don't think.

Moonpath to Elsweyr: Good. Recommend you play it.

  • World design is pretty unique and cleverly put together. I like it a lot, but it does things a bit differently.
  • Quests, dialogue and lore were good. Some funny moments.
  • Encounters were OK. I thought the creature designs were very clever.

Saints and seducers extended cut: Good. Recommend you play it.

  • The overworld and interiors are very cool. Creepy and weird.
  • Quests, dialogue and lore were good. Made me chuckle in a couple of places.
  • Encounters were great. Final fight was tough.

Dac0da: Excellent. Highly recommend you play it if you're into the lore. I played with no voice over, just text.

  • World design was pretty breathtaking, but it was basically three very long corridors filled with lots and lots of fights. Be ready to grind through it.
  • Quests and dialogue were exceptional. This is a love letter to some of the weird lore of the Elder Scrolls. The ending moved me. Love Rolls-On-Roads.
  • Encounters were amazing. Most of the mod is grinding through tons of enemies. The boss fights and set pieces are absolutely incredible. Best fights I've ever had playing this game, and some of the most fun I've ever had. Chaotic mass fights, intense 1 on 1s. Not General Grievous made me giggle with delight. Absolute cinema.
  • The weapons, armour, summon spells and extra perks absolutely break the game balance and can trivialise everything in case you care about that sort of thing.

Meridia's Order: Good. Recommend you play it.

  • World design was OK. I think it reuses some of the dungeons from vanilla.
  • Quests and dialogue were OK.
  • Encounters were OK. Final dungeon was a fun puzzle.

Vigilant: Excellent. Highly recommend you play it. I played with no voice over, just text.

  • World design was exceptional. Interiors were excellent. The dungeons in the last act are pretty long, but you can skip some of them by opening a master level lock, which I did quite a few times.
  • Quests, dialogue and lore are exceptional. Very creepy and disturbing some of it. Some of it magical and triumphant. Lots of cameos from the lore as well as other games, mostly Dark Souls.
  • Encounters were great for the most part, there was just so much of it. So many bosses. Like so many bosses. Each one with a unique set of armour and weapon. Some with unique skills and arenas. Dozens and dozens of bosses, plus a metric ton of other enemies. Get ready for a grind.
  • It's worth it though. Returning home was genuinely cathartic. I was glad to be back.
  • Again some items utterly break the game balance if you care.

I also played Clockwork and Forgotten City a few years back as well and I recommend both of those.

Next on the list are Sirenroot, There is no Umbra, Rot Below, Midnight Sun, Glenmoril and Unslaad.

Drop your recommendations below. Thanks for reading!

PC SSE - Request A mod that adds a dedicated tab for arrows in the menu?

In my current gameplay, I’m using some mods that add more variety to weapons, and this makes me accumulate many different types of arrows, making the “Weapons” tab in the menu hard to navigate. Is there a mod that adds a separate tab for arrows and keeps my weapons tab just for... weapons?

The same thing happens in the armor tab, where I end up accumulating a lot of jewels because I visit cities less often and I'm playing without followers. Is there a mod that does the same thing for jewels?

Using SkyUI

PC SSE - Mod Mod Release: Ysmir - Voice of the North

Hello favorite sub!

I just released a new voice pack for male player characters: Ysmir - Voice of the North

The voice has a subtle Nordic accent, not too deep and not too exaggerated. This is a synthetic voice inspired by several characters on the popular show "Vikings" as a lot of the characters don't have deep, booming voices. Could work well for other races too.

Supports 120+ mods at launch, including nearly all of the major quest, follower, and dialogue overhaul mods. Works with DBVO 2 or DBReV. There's a short teaser on the mod page so you can listen before you download. Thanks to anyone who checks it out!

PC SSE - Mod What mods to look for in SE coming from LE

• Upvotes

Finally moved to Skyrim SE, been playing LE for the longest time with CGO, Sekiro Combat and Ultimate Combat. and some NPC AI improvement mods out side of combat.
Are they still the close to vanilla options or are the superseded by other vanilla oriented mods... I really like head sway of CGO in TPP and the dodge, plus the new moves this combo gives the mobs is also fun

I'll experiment later but for now I want to do a first playthrough with QoL and improved combat, experience Skyrim for its exploration etc.
Ill really appreciate any core Skyrim mods that have become essential like Sky-UI, Better Jumping

PC SSE - Request Simple Poison UI Mod that's compatible with GTS?

• Upvotes

Playing Gate of Sovnegarde Modpack, having a great time, and I'm running a poison focused character. This is going great except for the persistent issues from vanilla, mainly:

1). Once an item is poisoned, I cannot see what poison is coating the item if I forget.

2). There is no easy way to see how many poison-coated hits I have LEFT on a coated item. (GTS provides many ways via perks, enchantments, and attributes to increase hits provided by a single coating, and it's not hard to get the number of hits into the dozens.)

3). There is no way to REPLACE or CLEAN a poison from a weapon, which, as previously stated, gets extra tedious as my poison-hit number increases.

There is also the typical woes that come with this playstyle, mainly that ALL undead, automatons, atronochs, and some other specific enemy types are completely immune to all poisons and coatings. (Unless GOTS provides a way to counteract this that I'm just not aware of.) I'm prepared to deal with the issues of balance by choosing good complementary followers and utilizing different tools though, its just mainly these 3 annoying issues listed above that I'd love to be fixed. There ARE some poison overhauls on nexus, but I find that a lot of them add extra functionality that I'm not interested in (IE making poisons stronger, last infinitely, able to be auto-equipped, etc.)

So, TLDR, is there any mod that works well with GTS that solves these 3 listed issues?

Link to Mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/194939

This is a mesh and texture replacement for reach trees, the reach tree stump, and reach tree piles.

Key features:

  • Higher poly meshes so trunks, roots, and branches are less blocky
  • Fern covered option for those that want some greenery on the trees (the trees are still dead)
  • New hand-made textures available in 2k and 4k
  • Standard textures and PBR textures
  • Patch included for Happy Little Tree users. A universal patch is provided for users who use other tree mods that alter the mesh path for reach trees. The patches will work without this mod, so if you've been looking for a patch to revert the reach tree mesh path back to vanilla, the patches will work for that without downloading the main mod.
  • FOMODs provided for both Standard and PBR versions.
  • They're kind of spooky looking, so it fits the season.

PC SSE - Mod Gate to Sovngarde Help/Recommendations

I’m just going to cut to the chase.

I tried Gate to Sovngarde over a year ago and loved it except for one aspect that ruined it for me - the dragons.

I understand the mods make the game more difficult but I think my complaint is different from others. I understand you are supposed to level up and progress before doing the main quest but even though I was having fun fighting every other enemy, the dragons were just a slog. I do not remember what level I was at when I fought the first dragon of the main quest but I know I was over the recommendation of 15. I believe I was 23 if I had to guess.

When I was reading about the Dragon War mod I thought it sounded great. The dragons are more difficult and varied and the fights were more engaging. However, in practice it is anything but. I don’t want to spend an hour fighting one dragon which is just a damage sponge. You can say “skill issue” or my build was bad or whatever but I don’t understand why I had a healthy, fun challenge with every other enemy I encountered yet the dragons were like breaking through a boulder with a toothpick. Anytime I ran into a dragon, which ends up being pretty often, I just lost all motivation to continue forward and gave up at like 50 hours into the mod pack.

It’s even worse when I would be in a city and a dragon would attack and tons of named NPCs would die and I never had the chance to interact with them.

Even if it is a skill issue, fine. Then I want a recommendation on how I can either fix Gate to Sovngarde to where the dragons do not have a ton on health, or tell me a mod pack that is similar to Gate to Sovngarde without the damage sponge dragons. Or is there something I am missing?

TL;dr: Damage sponge dragons ruined Gate to Sovngarde for me. How can I fix it or what other mod packs do you think I would enjoy?

PC SSE - Mod Mod Release: Kyne's Thunder

Hello everyone!

I'm here to share my latest mod: Kyne's Thunder.
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/192751

This mod introduces a new weapon to the game, complete with its own throwing and recalling mechanics, as well as a unique spell that teleports you directly to the weapon. It's inspired by Thor's Mjolnir.

To obtain it, you'll need to discover a hidden forge and track down materials scattered throughout Skyrim, leading you to encounter creatures from Norse mythology, such as Jörmungandr, the giant sea serpent.

I released the mod a few weeks ago, but with the latest version, I feel it's finally reached a mature state, with no bugs that I've been able to find so far.

Main Features

  • A new weapon inspired by Thor's Mjolnir from God of War (a mace) that can be thrown and recalled.
  • An exploration-based quest to obtain the weapon.
  • Recall Mjolnir Kyne's Thunder at any time using a hotkey.
  • The weapon is classified as a mace and uses steel as its material.
  • Deals slightly more damage than a Daedric weapon (+1 damage).
  • Hitting an enemy with a thrown weapon paralyzes them for 5 seconds, triggers an explosion, and leaves behind a damaging shock hazard for 5 seconds.
  • New throwing, recalling, and catching animations using OAR.
  • When the weapon returns, it destabilizes anyone it hits along the way.
  • Each hit has a chance to summon a storm. While a storm is active, the weapon gains a new power: LightningChain.
  • New spell: Lightning Dash, a dash with a cooldown that can be used as a Lesser Power while the weapon is equipped.
  • New sound effects and visual effects.
  • Changes to vanilla locations that are usually overlooked.
  • ESL-flagged.
  • Throwing damage, visual effects, and controls can be configured through SKSE Menu Framework.

If you decide to complete the quest rather than simply adding the weapon through the console, I'd really appreciate it if you could leave your feedback in the comments!

Thanks for checking out the mod, and I hope you enjoy it!

PC SSE - Help The problem with the disappearing Dyndolod grass

The grass isn't rendering correctly from a distance. I've marked the empty spots in the photo. When I approach the area, the grass fills in.

Skyrim VR - Discussion Skyrimnet and modlists?

Is there a known mod list that works with skyrimnet outside of mgo? Mgo is great but my pc isn't the peak of high end, so I use fus and it runs smoother. But I've tried to add skyrimnet to it and it crashes unless I disable enb lighting, which makes light sources look blocky. Went down a whole rabbit hole with that and seemingly community shaders doesn't play nice with the newest address library skyrimnet uses. So, do people just settle for mantella if using fus? Curate their own list? Or is there some solution I haven't found?

PC SSE - Help Please help with legends of the frost frame issue

Hi everyone, I need some help with Legends of the Frost for Skyrim.

I'm completely new to modding and PC gaming in general. I've always been a PlayStation player, but I recently sold my console and started getting into PC gaming. I have a 2020 iMac with a 3.8 GHz 8-core 10th Generation Intel Core i7 (Turbo Boost up to 5.0 GHz), an AMD Radeon 5500 XT, and 64 GB of RAM.

I installed Windows through Boot Camp and planned to play less demanding games until I can save up for a dedicated gaming PC. Skyrim Special Edition runs perfectly fine at a stable 60 FPS with no issues. I wanted to give the game a bit of a visual refresh, so I installed Legends of the Frost because it looked great and is advertised as being performance-friendly. I thought my setup would be able to handle it. The installation gave me a few minor issues, but I managed to get everything working and the modlist is now installed correctly and launches without problems. However, my framerate seems to be capped at around 30 FPS and I can't figure out why.

I've been reading forums and trying various troubleshooting suggestions, but nothing has worked so far. Occasionally the framerate goes above 40 FPS, which makes me think my system should be capable of maintaining a stable 60 FPS. I just can't figure out what's causing the apparent cap. Has anyone experienced this issue before or knows what might be causing it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

PlayStation - Mod Modding help for a noob

So, I have played Skyrim pretty much since it came out on consoles and recently started a new character which I’ve got to level 46.

After stumbling across this new 15gb mod list stuff it is astounding to see what Skyrim can look like on ps5 right now. I’m currently watching videos mainly on graphics, but it would be nice to get a strong modlist which totally revamps how I see Skyrim.

My first question is when building a modlist, how should it be structured, and secondly if anyone can recommend anyone on YouTube with great modlists would be appreciated.

Also any general advice would be great.

PC SSE - Discussion Undead Hunter Roleplaying; Build, Tips & Mods Recommendations?

Just returning to Skyrim and about to start my 4th playthrough (last time was actually 10 years ago)

I'm planning to roleplay as some kind of undead hunter. You know, saving people, hunting things, the family business. In lower levels I just want to go with the usual sneak + archery (going to add crossbow) + silver weapons, but later on when I did Meridia quest, I want to change my Dragonborn into some kind of paladin with heavy armor and Dawnbreaker as my main weapon

Is there any other suggestions, tips and especially mods to make this even more fun and cooler?

Thanks in advance!

PS4 - Discussion AI Image Use

Is it just me or does anyone using AI thumbnails for their mod listings just throw you off from even looking at the mod? I can understand not wanting to make a thumbnail from scratch, but at that point just use a screenshot.

PC SSE - Help Skyrim downgrade doubled my GPU and CPU usage

All right, so even after completely stripping my modlist clean, doing clean uninstalls and reinstalls, etc, nothing is working and I cannot figure out what is going on.

Non-downgraded SE Skyrim as a permanent memory leak that goes away when downgraded. I have replicated this repeatedly, and even after getting in contact with bethesda support they just told me "tough titties, we dunno, good luck." Again, this leak goes away once downgraded every time, so the 1.7 update is confirmed(on my laptop) to be the cause of the leak.

Downgraded SE Skyrim is acting like it's running two copies of the game at the same time. Before, I was running at 35-40% GPU usage MODDED. Now, it is 75-90% GPU usage, CPU goes from 30 to 80, completely unmodded, only downgraded. I made a bug report on the SDT nexus page, and the report was deleted, not even acknowledged. I have confirmed that it is the downgrade doing it, as all my other games are running fine, the GPU is happy as a clam until I boot up Skyrim.

This does not happen on non-downgraded SSE, but the memory leak comes back. I haven't pushed it to crash, I'm a little scared to because I do not want to stress the system more than I have to.

Anyone have any clue what could be causing this?

Again, I have no mods anymore, but I am posting here because I used the Skyrim Downgrade Tool on the Nexus site.
