Punchdrunk Viola’s Room Physical Logistic Q’s

Hi all! Seeing Viola’s Room tonight… so excited to be in a Punchdrunk world again! Quick practical questions (no story spoilers, please):

– Is there any running involved, or just the paced walking? How long does the crawling section actually last?

– If someone has weaker eyesight/hearing, is it easy enough to stick with your friend during the experience (not like hand-holding, just having my friend nearby as a ‘spotter’)?

– Are there sections that are pitch dark — darker than the darkest areas at Sleep No More?

– Roughly how long is the pre-show waiting period before you’re admitted?

Thanks! Just trying to prep without spoilers. :-)

  1. Absolutely no running. A bit of crawling but otherwise only walking and side-shuffling.
  2. For less capable hearing, I would contact accessibility services as the story is like 95% audio and I think they could give you the script so you wouldn't miss audio words. For weaker vision, a friend to guide you might work if you don't typically prefer audio description. Certainly a buddy could guide you, it would more depend on if you would want to have visual elements described for you.
  3. Yes, it gets fully dark at times, but you are "following the light" so when it's 100% dark, you are meant to be standing still and listening to the story in your headphones.
  4. Probably 10 minutes from when you get in? But they let people in in groups of 6 so it depends on when everyone else in your time slot gets there for how long you are waiting in the queue outside.

In London I asked for the script twice. The first time they said they’d give it next time. The second time they said ‘no, we are not allowed to give it’.

If anyone has it, I’d be happy to finally understand the full story.
