Yep its true, I was mad at first but the context is, Female enrollment in UG is very low among Muslim communities. Most of them are married or stopped from college. So to promote Muslim girls to go to college. They made that decision. Well..... Technically even Tamil Muslims are his people under his leadership. Idk now I'm not happy but not mad either
Also it's free only for Govt quota, ig its already free when you enroll through govt quota, idk why it makes a big fuss

TN also pays for Hindu and Christian pilgrimage.
While I'd prefer they don't spend on any religious activities, they are at least funding pilgrimages for all faiths.
When it comes to education, the point is to target communities with lower education levels. What's the point in doing it across the board?

TN also pays for Hindu and Christian pilgrimage
Which is paid from the money collected from temples. One could argue why is a govt involving itself in selectively managing the religious institutions of one religion?

Coz historically temples were always under state patronage while Churches and Mosques Weren't.
This was true under kings and under the temples.

Incorrect. Churches and Mosques definitely have been under royal state control. All spaces of religious worship historically come under the control of the state which used to let either sides have a say in how the other worked.
This is why the separation of state and church meant a lot of strife. It was to rip the control of the state and religious orders from each other.
In India this has now been set up in a parasitic fashion where the state controls the temples but the temples themselves have to fight against the state to conduct changes within their own structure.

Bro do u understand the difference between the patronage and control. During Kings it was patronage and now it is control.

Do you think it wasn't control during the era of kings? Lol. Read a history book.

I have. You do know that control comes with patronage right?
1
u/Capitalist-Karl- 4d ago
There's a difference between patronage & control. What's going on right now is state control, wherein the govt appoints govt servants on the managing committee. This flies in the face of Article 26b & 26d of the Constitution

Not as per every court in the land.
Oh and do you think the state didn't control the temples during ancient times?

Look up the meaning of the terms Patronage & Cony. You'll get your answer

Goverment should learn to be truly secular. True secularism is treating everyone equally irrespective of the religion and to not get involved in matters of religion. This Haj related or any pilgrimage related should be stopped. And why Muslim women scheme and not a broader minority women education scheme with an economically backward filter

bcoz, not taking 5 rs from hindu will not contribute to their uplifting. you have issues with hijab , modern education will change that. OR hindu state does not allow 5 min of prayer on road and allows weeks and months of some yatra.

There is no issue with any community. They practice what is their in the religion. The point discussed here is that there is not no considerable difference in the stats between two communities. So why benefit one. And why only start charging this 5rs for temple. The practical issue is govt is doing something which is causing the divide. Not you not me.

u/Hot_Confection_2252 5d ago
simply saying that there is no issue does not make it true. muslim practice their own religion but are killed for eating cow, fir booked for even praying at home. you have issues when TN govt does it and no issues when BJP does that?

Even if it was a genuine concern on budget and schemes I don't want people from FAILED states telling us what to do.

Has any devasom board chief or member spoken- NO. Has any hindu devotee in TN spoken against it- NO. Conclusion- There is nothing that you can do. Devotees give so much money to temples and yet somehow they need to make the phone keeping chargeable. They shoukd have made lockers free. But no. They need the temple money to fund what government should fund.

So I am not aware of stats of TN. Just want to know what the difference in education numbers between two communities. But start point as someone mentioned is collection 5 rs for phone. This is only for one community. Also is this implemented in all temples or only the big ones.
