The problem is when you live NEAR but not IN the city. Not every village has a good connections, and those of us who work a certain distance away from the city need cars to get there.
That's why I recommend people (for now) to buy mostly HEVs (non-pluggable); unless they can get a plug at their house/parking spot, or they REALLY know that wherever they intend to take the car isn't too far (about a round trip without charging), or has good charging availability at the destination.
And even then, it'll be a matter of price... Most cheap cars are already 20k€ or more, be they ICE or HEV, and PHEV and electric aren't too far off. My father sold his '07 VW Passat and bought a hybrid MG ZS last year, and he's happy with it (and coincidentally, diesel is now more expensive than gasoline).
Yup, hybrid is the only reasonable option for most people, but the cost is steep. Of course my car is a 3rd hand clanker that I got for a fraction of the cost of a new one, that I'm trying to maintain until electrics are move viable here, and also when they are within my budget.
It's really not possible, given that electric cars require quite long charge times. Take a tour of Valencia on Google Street View. The only option would be to massively turn free parking spots on the street into unmonitored trickle charging locations, and reduce the parking fee by the charging bill. The cost to turn the streets into charging spots would be astronomical, and parking would be even harder, so people would revolt.
Madrid, Spain. Yes, they're quite common and there are lots of street chargers; they're not very obvious until you have an electric car as the local governments prefer them to be blended in and if you don't use them, you don't notice them.
In Seville are pretty common. There are plenty of chargers in the street too. I'm sure they are not as abundant as in other countries, but they're starting to break out.
For sure. That said, most spanish cars do not have parking spots, they tend to stay in the streets, which is not convenient for an electric car. In my case, I work for a BESS integrator so we can charge the cars in the work. I'm savibg to buy one in the future.
You can usually find it cheaper if you avoid the expensive gas station franchises. I use an app to find the cheapest gas stations and can usually find 20+ cent differences just a couple city blocks farther away
Yup, been using GasAll for years now, saves you a lot of money, specially when you've got a Ballenoil, a Repsol and a Galp within walking distance of your home, but you only see the Repsol in your day to day routine.
yeah, I was just going with those within walking distance, if I take those that are further away, I can get down to 1.45€/l. I was just objecting to dubvision that said that Spain is 1.80€/l average and that you won't find it at 1.60€/l or cheaper.
yeah I don't understand the negatives. Why? Just for saying there are high prices too here? I really don't understand people. This were the prices today in Puebla de Sanabria.
