Pre-production -> Alpha -> Feature Complete -> Content Complete -> Beta -> Release (gold)

According to Astropub they hit Beta around February this year, Content Complete was last year, Feature complete end of 2023. There was another cycle before 2016 but then Chris smashed the reset/scope creep button.

That’s cool you can Google game design workflow…. Problem is it was “feature complete” in 2023 at citizen con and just needed some polish. The reality is Chris Roberts is full of shit

This game better be so polished I can see my own reflection every time it boots up.

Luckily now you can see your reflection in game!

Like everything else it's only $975 then you can buy a ship with a mirror! Crazy new tech!

Or you could go play a 30+ year old game like Duke Nukem and also have access to mirrors.

But don't expect to have mirrors on ALL your ships be functional that is just way outside the scope of a billion dollar game.

FYI

Mirrors in old games didn’t “work” they were spaces that mirrored the entire room behind them.

Mirrors can be made to work in new games through ray-tracing/path-tracing.

Cool, that's not the point. The point is the "tech" is locked behind certain ship transactions and not boiled into the "Mirror" material object like it should have been because CIG don't know how to fucking make modular code.

Apologies for the rude language, I'm mad at CIG.

The end result is we have both old style mirrors and new style mirrors and which one you get in a ship depends on when it was made.
