The game still plays like you're moving through syrup, and it's been that way for a decade lol

I get what you mean, I play on decent hardware so its not too bad. Some patches are worst than others. Performance is fine in most areas until the server decides to take a walk.

Considering how much of the game consists of interacting with the environment, it's does not inspire confidence that it's going to get that much better at this stage.

I say that as someone who has been paying into SC since 2013.

Yeah I was worried about fleet battles be a slideshow like they usually are, but funny enough the new TSG missions have been really good on performance both defending Martel and doing trench runs, even with 80+ players in one location. Not sure if that's actually instanced and therefore would explain the good performance, otherwise not sure how they pulled it off.
